It was prepared by direct reaction of oda in aqueous solution with stoichiometric amounts of Mn(II) and Ce(III). The structure of the complex exhibits a highly ordered 3D structure with [MnCe(oda) 3 ] - as building blocks. The charge is balanced with [Mn(H 2 O) 6 ] 2+ ions which occupy the holes of the anionic framework. Data suggest coordination of the ligand to Ag(I) through the oxygen atom of the carboxylic group. AgAsp was obtained as a mixture of AgAsp and Ag(I)-2-hydroxybenzoate (AgSal) due to decomposition by thermal and hydrolysis of acetylsalicylic acid into salicylic acid. AgSal structure was confirmed by FT-IR, NMR and X-ray diffraction. The five prepared ligands were characterized by elemental analysis, infrared, mass spectra, and 1H-NMR spectra.  The ionization constants of the ligands and stability constants of their Fe (III) complexes were determined potentiometrically in ethanol-water media at 25°C. HL1 ligand has two pKa values while the other ligands (HL2, HL3, HL4 and HL5) have one pKa value. It is a 5d 3 ion, and usually forms octahedral complexes which are reasonably stable against redox processes and inert to ligand substitution. This is the basis for the preparation of mononuclear species that can act as ligands towards other transition metal ions. For example, complexes containing dicarboxylic ligands, [ReX 4 (ox)] 2– and [ReX 4 (mal)] 2– (X = Cl, Br; ox = oxalato; mal = malonato), or N-donor ligands, [ReCl 5 (pyz)] – (pyz = pyrazine) have been used as building blocks to construct heteropolynuclear complexes. It does not maer if the applications include medicine, engineering, food, energy, or it is just the interest in creating new mole- cules. Most discoveries in chemistry include the synthesis of new materials and every day new compounds are created or found, and innovative preparation routes are test- ed. According to the Cambridge Structural Database (CSD), in 1993 only 38.9% of the records reported the presence of transition metal elements, with 20,439 structures. 17 year later that 0gure increased to 48.0%, with 120,638 new structures, and recent- ly, in 2012, a new record was reached, with 319,188 structures, representing 53.5% of the total in the CSD (1). For that reason it is common, even in many prestigious inorganic chemistry journals, to 0nd that in a large number of articles there is a sec- tion on synthesis and spectroscopic and/or structural characterization. 7e word \"synthesis\" appears in all papers and is one of the most common words in the titles of articles. In the last decades inorganic synthesis has evolved, reaching a great variety of tech- niques as published in the book \" Modern Inorganic Synthetic Chemistry \", with more than 20 chapters on di<erent aspects of such diverse areas as: high and low tempera- ture synthesis, hydrothermal and solvothermal synthesis, coordination polymers, cluster compounds, host-guest materials, ceramics, nanomaterials, among other chapters devoted exclusively to modern inorganic synthesis (2). But not only the traditional synthesis and preparation of inorganic compound is growing every day. Over the last ten years there has been an increasing number of new highly ordered structures called \"nanoparticles,\" expanding even more the family of inorganic materials with a great impact all the way from medicine to energy. Structural analysis reveals that the title complex is six-coordinate and connected by the azelaic acid and 4,4 ′ -bipy ligands to generate a 2D planar structure, further linked through the interaction of hydrogen bond of C–H···O to form a 3D supramolecular structure .
