If such a robot has some artificial intelligence, it can help children learn a variety of things. Therefore, by interacting with this robot, children can learn English and practice daily conversations in English, even learning how to get along with people and develop good social skills. Hence, the purpose of this research is to use an online graphical programming tool -CodeLab- to create a good interaction mode between humans and Kebbi Air robots, and help children learn and talk in English in an interactive way. By using this tool, this research created a function so that users can recognize English Words in a period of time. In this way, preschoolers can easily learn basic English Words and simple daily conversations to lay a good foundation for language education. In addition, parents can remotely observe their children's learning through the AI robot camera, and use the robot to discuss learning content with their children. The research results showed that artificial intelligence robots are beneficial to improve children's learning enthusiasm and attention, build their self-confidence, and encourage them to learn, listen and speak English.","PeriodicalId":93451,"journal":{"name":"International journal of learning and teaching","volume":"14 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"80282920","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The 21st-century learning practices emphasize music pedagogy’s applied purposes from performative and academic perspectives while outweighing the exam-driven nature to generate motivation and appreciation for music. This research defines curricular innovations that allow for a student-led music program with a particular emphasis on performative components of music education that – along with project-based and inquiry-based pedagogies – align students on a path to self-regulated learning. The paper discusses and analyzes the structures evoked by educators to allow students to produce a dynamic student-led curriculum. Furthermore, the article outlines the motivational advantages that the revised curriculum engraves within its four-step music performance framework in the context of McClelland's motivators.","PeriodicalId":93451,"journal":{"name":"International journal of learning and teaching","volume":"1 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"89989737","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This (2018) study invited Canadian elementary teachers (n=8) into a focus group and asked them how they successfully connected with students in their classrooms. Participants shared many strategies on how they connected with their students and their families (Reimer, 2020a, 2020b). On one occasion, participants noted that the establishment of consistent routines in the classroom played an essential role in connecting with students. While all teachers independently brought in many types of routines into their classrooms, some shared how the introduction of a school-wide “Balanced School Day” assisted them in finding an optimal ‘rhythm’ (Wilson, 2011) to their day.","PeriodicalId":93451,"journal":{"name":"International journal of learning and teaching","volume":"4 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"89672449","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

With \"Ketangpai\" as the teaching platform, teachers upload teaching resources to guide students to study independently and explore learning, strengthen communication between teachers and students in class and after class, and strengthen the process assessment. The whole teaching process data of a semester was stored in the \"Ketangpai\" server, with high teaching efficiency. Through the survey of students' satisfaction, we have obtained a good evaluation of the online and offline blending teaching mode of the course \"Foundation of Programming\". Through the analysis of the final examination of the course \"Foundation of Programming\" for two semesters, it was found that the students' test scores under the mode of online and offline blending teaching were better than those under the traditional teaching mode.","PeriodicalId":93451,"journal":{"name":"International journal of learning and teaching","volume":"43 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"73397628","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The current climate might undermine efforts to engage students from underrepresented minority backgrounds in science, technology, engineering, math, and medical (STEMM) fields. Students intending to major in a STEMM field from a 2-year, community college and 4-year, baccalaureate-granting institution completed a survey about psychological stress, science self-efficacy, and mental and physical health. Results indicate that college students (N = 219; Mage = 22.72, SD = 5.14; 74.4% female) during the pandemic reported higher stress levels than national norms for this age group during the last economic downturn in 2009 and at levels comparable to students experiencing a lab stressor pre-pandemic in 2018, particularly community college and female students. Higher stress was predictive of greater anxiety, depressive, and somatic symptoms. It was also related to lower confidence in exceling in science courses across the year, completing a science degree, and, ultimately, pursuing a science career. The findings suggest short-term and long-term consequences of COVID-19 on student health and science education that educators and institutions should address in continuing efforts to diversify the future STEMM workforce.","PeriodicalId":93451,"journal":{"name":"International journal of learning and teaching","volume":"242 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"79712338","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In this study, content analysis is used to perform semantic analysis on the content of the discussion posted by learners on online learning platform from the perspective of semantic similarity. The semantic similarity of different topics under the course is weighted to obtain the online discussion quality score of the learner. Then the evaluation results from experts discussed with the learner are divided into four levels. The Kappa consistency test and the McNemar paired chi-square test are performed. The experimental results show that there is consistency between the two evaluation methods, and the accuracy rates of the two ranked lower rankings are better. Therefore, the automated evaluation of the online discussion quality of learners based on semantics will play an indispensable role in the selection and sticking of comments on online learning platforms.","PeriodicalId":93451,"journal":{"name":"International journal of learning and teaching","volume":"353 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"82608529","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Despite the fast growth of AP high school curriculum programs, and high expectations from students and parents in China, empirical studies exploring the Chinese AP learners' perceptions of their university preparation are limited. This study aims at exploring the AP learners' perspectives on the AP high school curriculum program in equipping them for universities when they are studying in the US. Students’ responses to the Chinese AP program were collected through a questionnaire and individual semi-structured interviews. The findings show that students generally felt positive about the AP academic courses, which prepared them for their transition to universities. They also expressed that the English learning environment in the AP program developed English competence. However, they felt disappointed about the lack of teaching of paraphrasing skills, and were frustrated about not gaining much intercultural communicative competence in casual communication. This result sheds light on the under-researched area of the Chinese AP high school curriculum for the AP administrator and curriculum designers.","PeriodicalId":93451,"journal":{"name":"International journal of learning and teaching","volume":"13 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"81693776","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In this line, a qualitative quantitative study was conducted on sixty English as second foreign language seventh-graders over duration of fifteen weeks in grammar lessons. Thirty participants (experimental group) at Saba Zreik School (SZS) benefited from implementing the Interactive Whiteboard in grammar sessions, while thirty students (control group) at Tarbiya Hadith School (THS) did not receive such treatment. The study aims to increase educators' awareness of the efficiency of using the interactive Whiteboard in facilitating the teaching/ learning process and in boosting learners' motivation. For this reason, a grammar pre-test and a grammar post-test were conducted in order to compare and contrast the grammatical proficiency of the control and the experimental groups before and after the treatment period. The results were analyzed by SPSS; hypothesis one correlating Whiteboard usage with students' grammatical recognition level was confirmed; hypothesis two associating the implementation of Whiteboard to better proficiency in grammatical production level was asserted. Furthermore, the questionnaire analysis confirmed the research highlighting the positive role of the Interactive Whiteboard in boosting learners' motivation to learn English. Finally, recommendations for teachers, learners, curriculum designers, and future research have been incorporated.","PeriodicalId":93451,"journal":{"name":"International journal of learning and teaching","volume":"67 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"76330140","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
