In 2050 it is expected that one in six people will be aged 65 years or over in the world. With a large population, China chooses to implement the elderly education policy to respond to the challenge of population aging. In the policy system, China absorbs international ideals, such as lifelong learning, and active aging, into the national policies. However, in the practice, the elder’s curriculum exists an unbalanced state. The situation on rural elderly education lags far behind urban elderly education. This paper takes a chronological and historical approach to examine policies and practice in elder education in China. Recommendations are: (1) the national standard of curriculum for elderly education should be promoted. (2) the rural elderly should be paid more attention.","PeriodicalId":93451,"journal":{"name":"International journal of learning and teaching","volume":"20 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"84897013","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Pragmatics is critical in developing learners' ability to communicate effectively in the target language. As a result, it is possible to conclude that the combination of TBLT and GBLL would be beneficial and meaningful for second language learners learning their target language. Furthermore, task-based games in language learning have the potential to motivate and engage learners in meaningful learning while promoting autonomy and reducing anxiety, particularly among second language learners. It was also discovered that digital game-based learning is more effective than non-digital game-based learning because non-digital game-based learning cannot cover all critical elements of TBLT during implementation. Therefore, this essay will explore the possibility of implying game design to TBLT classrooms to achieve students' language pragmatics. Finally, some potential shortcomings and future developments will also be mentioned.","PeriodicalId":93451,"journal":{"name":"International journal of learning and teaching","volume":"10 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"78779168","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

There are many existing problems in terms of the training of engineering talents at local fire engineering colleges, including unclear training objectives, an unreasonable curricular system, an overly standardized teaching method, the neglect of students' personal development, the limited practical capability of engineering teachers, overly standardized evaluation methods, and too great of an emphasis on learning results, etc.; all of which relate to the concept of so-called \"outcome-based education\" (OBE). We propose the following modifications in terms of the OBE training model employed by local fire engineering colleges: the strengthening professional construction, the definition of training objectives, the alteration of the curriculum system, the adjustment of curriculum content, the reform of teaching methods, increased attention to students' needs, the assembly of a contingent of teachers, the improvement of evaluation systems, and the cultivation of applied fire engineering talents for the society.","PeriodicalId":93451,"journal":{"name":"International journal of learning and teaching","volume":"140 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"80146405","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

However, it was unclear that if oral glucose intake has any effect on improving executive attention in human subjects. In this study, we firstly investigated the effect of one-shot intake of 29 g glucose on executive attention in human subjects using an internet-based Stroop color and word test (SCWT). The time interference score, defined by the reaction times in the SCWT under three different rules, was significantly lower in the glucose intake group than in the control group. The error rate in the color patch condition of the SCWT was also significantly lower in the glucose group. These results suggest that glucose enhances executive attention.","PeriodicalId":93451,"journal":{"name":"International journal of learning and teaching","volume":"25 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"83649592","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The industry counts on new talents and content for this to happen, which in turn motivates the education in the energy field to be developed. However, the resources available for creating new education are often poor. This puts a lot of stress on the education system, including higher education. Especially those educational programs that require specific environments, technologies, and equipment for practical learning, are dependent on adequate economical support. Consequently, various innovative ways of supporting education are therefore more than welcome. In this work, we show how the result of an energy storage project can be used to support engineering education. Within the same project, the Project-Based Learning (PBL) pedagogy has been implemented for several students in their final studying year. The energy storage project focused on here aims to build up various demos on energy storage technologies that will be available for students and research personnel in the Vaasa region, Finland. The project is discussed briefly as a whole, whereafter the demo on Phase Change Materials (PCM) is presented more thoroughly.","PeriodicalId":93451,"journal":{"name":"International journal of learning and teaching","volume":"57 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"77772268","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Teachers deserve more social attention and should be provided with appropriate care to ensure their welfare and mental health. Although previous teacher burnout studies focused on several variables (e.g. age, gender and experience), studies on migrant children schools are limited. Teachers in these schools face many unusual challenges in other schools. This article aims to explore how school climate, students, parents, and professional development lead to teachers' burnout in migrant children schools. It began with discussing the current situation of migrant children schools with reference to previous studies and reports. Then the findings showed a) that governmental support is limited; b) students are taught under the unified standard; c) the absent role of parents widens the gap of communication in the family and d) teachers in such schools see little hope in the future careers and might even want to resign. In addition, the mental status of the teachers is usually neglected, so that many teachers feel chronic helplessness.","PeriodicalId":93451,"journal":{"name":"International journal of learning and teaching","volume":"59 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"90262450","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

As the first adopter of children, parents' parenting style influences children's cognition, socialization and personality development. This is a quantitative study which aims to investigate the development characteristics of the executive function (cool and hot) in boys and girls aged 3-5 years in China. Then, the relationship between the parenting style and executive function will be further explored. Through the analysis of data statistics by SPSS, the following research results are obtained: Firstly, There were significant age differences in the development of cool executive function in children aged 3-5 years, but not in hot executive function. Children have a better performance on the cool executive function as their age grows. Secondly, There was no significant gender difference in cool and hot executive functions in 3-5 years old children. Boys and girls do not differ significantly in performance on executive function tasks. Finally, The emotional warmth dimension in parenting style shows a tentative significant correlation with cool executive function, especially the hand games task. The other dimensions of parenting style are unrelated to cool and hot executive functions.","PeriodicalId":93451,"journal":{"name":"International journal of learning and teaching","volume":"1 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"82974025","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Four hundred and sixteen Chinese College students participated in the study and completed the Social Support Rating Scale (SSRS), Adult Dispositional Hope Scale (ADHS), and Satisfaction with Life Scale (SWLS). The analysis of correlation showed that social support was positively correlated with hope and life satisfaction. The correlation coefficients were 0.48 and 0.40, respectively. Hope was positively correlated with life satisfaction with a correlation coefficient of 0.36. The results of the mediation effect confirmed that social support affected life satisfaction through hope. Specifically, the value of mediating effect was 0.17, accounting for 33.33% of the total effect. Therefore, the increase in social support can improve the level of hope, which further influences college students’ life satisfaction.","PeriodicalId":93451,"journal":{"name":"International journal of learning and teaching","volume":"7 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"82535215","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
