This paper reviews the perceptions and practices of green consumption through the viewpoint of social practice theories, with an emphasis on gender dynamics. In addition, several factors influencing green consumption behaviour explored. Social practice theories provide a comprehensive framework for understanding how daily routines, societal norms, and infrastructural contexts shape sustainable consumption behaviours. Findings of this literature review highlights that women's higher inclination towards green consumption is driven by social roles and environmental concerns, while men's engagement is influenced by traditional roles and material conditions. By reviewing green consumption behaviour through the lens of social practice, the article reveals how collective behaviours and societal structures, rather than individual choices alone, drive sustainability efforts. The findings underscore the significance of policy interventions within the context of socio-technological development, emphasizing the need to address structural factors and promote sustainable practices through the adoption of nudge approach, circular economy principles, technological advancements and fostering environmental consciousness. Finally, this review paper suggests that future research is required to explore the gender differences in detail to understand their varying inclination toward green practices, which would help inform policy development for sustainability. Furthermore, it recommends conducting a longitudinal study to assess the impact of social practice-based sustainable consumption on climate resilience in climate-vulnerable regions.</div></div>","PeriodicalId":74826,"journal":{"name":"Social sciences & humanities open","volume":"11 ","pages":"Article 101455"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2025-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"143705469","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"OA","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Mobile learning has emerged as a valuable approach to visualizing biological concepts or conducting practical activities. However, there is a dearth of literature studies related to the application of mobile learning in biology education. Thus, this literature review was conducted to present a mapping of empirical findings from the literature on the use of mobile learning in biology learning from 2013 to 2024. The literature review (SLR) study used the PRISMA method to review and select articles from the Scopus database. A total of 66 out of 1315 articles were selected and reviewed. Systematic analysis of the selected articles revealed a growing trend of mobile learning usage over time and researchers from different countries with various research methods that continue to expand the future direction of mobile learning research. This SLR reveals a mapping of mobile learning in four main aspects that can be an insight for educators regarding the type of technology used, content taught, instructional design, and learning outcome. Considering that technology strongly supports learning in biology education, the mobile learning trend will increase to achieve more effective and efficient learning in the coming years.</div></div>","PeriodicalId":74826,"journal":{"name":"Social sciences & humanities open","volume":"11 ","pages":"Article 101429"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2025-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"143641660","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"OA","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The new way of working represents an alternative to the purchaser–provider split model. Instead of decisions being made on behalf of the service user by an intermediate purchaser, small, interdisciplinary teams are to cooperate to make decisions. The study is qualitative and exploratory, and data were collected via workshops with home-based service professionals. Eight professionals with different backgrounds participated. Data were both collected and analyzed using the story dialogue method. Adopting a wider view on trust, this study contributes by discussing the results according to three interrelated platforms of trust: relational/interactional, pre-contractual, and structural/institutional. While freedom and security are often positioned as dichotomous concepts, striking a delicate balance between them for democratic country becomes a challenge. Autocracies, meanwhile, have adeptly engaged in information warfare, exploiting both the asymmetric nature of sharp power and the obligation of democracies to uphold freedom.</div><div>This is particularly evident in the realm of the Internet and social media, where the nature of communication amplifies opportunities for malicious actors. Additionally, the visual power of the Internet, largely embodied in memes, emotionally resonates with audiences. Memes act as agents of influence and change, shaping values and perceptions, and become instruments of information disorder by simplifying complex issues through emotionally charged content. They spread rapidly and are difficult to trace. Through this process, memes contribute to identity creation and transformation, advancing broader political aims, popularizing political leaders and regimes, exploiting sensitive topics from both the present and the past, and heightening the sense of social inequality.</div><div>This article aims at comprehending how meme as an information warfare tool functions in the democratic and autocratic contexts. We find that while well-coordinated dissemination of pro-authoritarian content could make open media markets in democracies vulnerable to manipulation, and state controlled in the autocracies makes the latter more resilient. However, we argue that this asymmetry should not lead liberal democracies to prioritize physical resilience methods over cognitive ones, as the mid-term effectiveness of the cognitive approach (“teaching people how to fish”) may ultimately prove more sustainable. Over-reliance on stricter measures in liberal democracies may have drawbacks, potentially undermining the very freedoms they aim to protect.</div></div>","PeriodicalId":74826,"journal":{"name":"Social sciences & humanities open","volume":"11 ","pages":"Article 101247"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2025-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"143093662","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"OA","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The primary objective is to understand how the integration of religious and cultural values contributes to achieving <em>Belum Ruhui Rahayu</em>, a state of peaceful coexistence. The research employs a qualitative approach, utilizing two main data collection techniques: systematic observation to monitor and record relevant behaviors, and in-depth interview. Key findings reveal that the villagers of Tewang Darayu effectively internalize and implement religious moderation through a harmonious blend of cultural practices and religious teachings. The study highlights that the values of inclusivity, unconditional love, openness to differences, and active engagement in community life are central to achieving <em>Belum Ruhui Rahayu</em>. These values align with the principles of religious moderation and contribute to social stability and cohesion. The contribution of this study lies in its demonstration of how traditional values and cultural practices can complement religious moderation efforts. It offers insights into the practical application of these values in everyday life, providing a model for other communities seeking to enhance interfaith harmony. The rapid mutation of the virus into numerous variants further exacerbated the policy puzzles faced by governments, health officials, and medical scientists. This study investigates the macroeconomic policy implications of the Japanese government's response to the COVID-19 pandemic using an exploratory data analysis (EDA) framework. The analysis compares Japan's COVID-19 statistics with those of selected OECD member countries as well as the economic implications of Japan's COVID-19 policy response, focusing on households and businesses. The results indicate that compared to selected OECD member countries, confinement measures and behavioral changes kept Japan's COVID-19 transmission rate low. In addition, less stringent measures, such as intermittent state of emergency and voluntary stay-at-home policies adopted by the Japanese government, appear to have paid off. Public debt increased, wages fell moderately, unemployment rose moderately, and private consumption slowed, but recovered quickly in the last quarter of 2020. Crucially, expansionary fiscal stimulus to both households and businesses staved the worst effects of the pandemic. The evidence points to post-COVID-19 economic recovery policy measures that ensure direct and robust government funding to SMEs, attractive investment climate to accumulate private capital, and investment in digital economy transformation that encourage and pave the way for hybrid working system.</div></div>","PeriodicalId":74826,"journal":{"name":"Social sciences & humanities open","volume":"11 ","pages":"Article 101452"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2025-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"143854974","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
