This study uniquely conducts a bibliometric analysis of the 100 most-cited journal articles on Halal supply chain management based on data retrieved from Scopus (2008–2023). The study involved VOSviewer and Harzing's publish or perish as the main tools for data analysis. A total of 100 journal articles and reviews were analysed using keyword co-occurrence analysis and bibliographic coupling to identify several themes within the context of Halal supply chain management. The keyword co-occurrence analysis produced six themes, including “consumer behaviour and the application of blockchain in Halal supply chain”, “bibliometric analysis and literature review in the Halal food supply chain”, and “Islam and Halal logistics in Malaysia”. While bibliographic coupling produced seven themes, such as “food integrity and blockchain in Halal supply chain management”, and “the analysis of Halal logistics and supply chains on aspects such as adoption of Halal logistics, challenges and opportunities, service quality, and consumer behaviour”. Despite its limitations, the study highlights the novel insights and knowledge gaps on aspects linked to Halal supply chain management. With this aim, a bibliometric and content analysis of the journal articles indexed to the Web of Science database and Scopus on this topic (through September 2023) was carried out. Bibliometrix and VOSviewer were used for data processing. The results revealed that the University of Tarapacá (Chile) is at the center of scientific production in the field, standing out for its productivity and influence, which has allowed the consolidation of a body of researchers recognized for their impact in the area. Regarding the topics addressed, three main areas of study were found: 1) pathologies and toxicity, 2) life, society and cultural interactions, and 3) funerary traditions and mummification. The inclusion of the settlements and the artificial mummification process of the Chinchorro Culture on the World Heritage List by UNESCO has been the impetus behind this study. The primary objective is to understand how the integration of religious and cultural values contributes to achieving <em>Belum Ruhui Rahayu</em>, a state of peaceful coexistence. The research employs a qualitative approach, utilizing two main data collection techniques: systematic observation to monitor and record relevant behaviors, and in-depth interview. Key findings reveal that the villagers of Tewang Darayu effectively internalize and implement religious moderation through a harmonious blend of cultural practices and religious teachings. The study highlights that the values of inclusivity, unconditional love, openness to differences, and active engagement in community life are central to achieving <em>Belum Ruhui Rahayu</em>. These values align with the principles of religious moderation and contribute to social stability and cohesion. The contribution of this study lies in its demonstration of how traditional values and cultural practices can complement religious moderation efforts. It offers insights into the practical application of these values in everyday life, providing a model for other communities seeking to enhance interfaith harmony. The novelty of this research is its socio-theological perspective, which bridges theoretical concepts with practical implications, offering a comprehensive understanding of how religious and cultural dimensions interact to foster a peaceful and inclusive society.</div></div>","PeriodicalId":74826,"journal":{"name":"Social sciences & humanities open","volume":"11 ","pages":"Article 101271"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2025-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"143093961","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"OA","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The new way of working represents an alternative to the purchaser–provider split model. Instead of decisions being made on behalf of the service user by an intermediate purchaser, small, interdisciplinary teams are to cooperate to make decisions. The study is qualitative and exploratory, and data were collected via workshops with home-based service professionals. Eight professionals with different backgrounds participated. Data were both collected and analyzed using the story dialogue method. Adopting a wider view on trust, this study contributes by discussing the results according to three interrelated platforms of trust: relational/interactional, pre-contractual, and structural/institutional. The results indicate that to build trust after transferring autonomy to horizontally organized teams, work needs to be done to develop relational and pre-contractual trust before the new practice has been formalized in new routines, new structural trust bases have been formed, and trust has become institutionally embedded.</div></div>","PeriodicalId":74826,"journal":{"name":"Social sciences & humanities open","volume":"11 ","pages":"Article 101251"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2025-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"143103370","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"OA","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Employing a survey design, we analyzed data from administered closed-ended questionnaires to academic staff and students. The research identified key factors influencing students' engagement with educational research paradigms, including educational background, access to resources, supervisory practices, and institutional culture. Findings revealed that there is no single factor that determines postgraduate students' awareness and utilization of educational research paradigms and approaches in universities. Rather, there are multitude of factors ranging from students’ background and interests, the influence of the supervisors and the institution, nature of research topics, the teaching of research methods, and peer influence. The study underscores the need for enhanced curriculum design and supervisory support to improve paradigm-specific knowledge and application. Australia has now followed the UK in legislating for industrial manslaughter within the various workplace health and safety laws across many of its states and territories. The aim of this paper is to explore the industrial manslaughter legislation across Australia and discusses the lessons which may be learned from the UK. An analysis of the CMCHA was undertaken to determine whether it has lived up to expectations and if there may be lessons to be learned for Australia as it embarks on its post-harmonization journey. A review of publications found that the CMCHA had fallen short of expectations within its first decade of existence in the UK in both the number of successful prosecutions and in the severity of the punishments handed down. The purported deficiencies in the prosecutorial success of the United Kingdom's CMCHA provides an opportunity for Australia to heed and avoid these deficiencies.</div></div>","PeriodicalId":74826,"journal":{"name":"Social sciences & humanities open","volume":"11 ","pages":"Article 101209"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2025-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"143094259","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"OA","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This transition to emergency remote classes, however, involved a number of challenges for universities to keep operating and maintain education quality during lockdowns and other restrictions on mobility. Although the pandemic is over, recent disease outbreaks such as influenza, Mpox, and other new viruses call for reflection about lessons learned from COVID-19, and whether universities are ready for future similar events. To address this concern, this study proposes a research model based on the activity theory to understand the factors driving students’ learning outcomes and satisfaction with emergency remote classes. In terms of methods, this study follows a post-positivism approach, and used a non-experimental quantitative design based on a survey to statistically make inferences from a sample of students from four South American countries (Chile, Peru, Ecuador, and Paraguay) who faced emergency remote classes during the two semesters of 2020. Based on the results, this study: 1) identified the characteristics of an average student of this region and their interaction with the learning platform and other stakeholders; 2) determined an emergency remote classes ecosystem, highlighting the factors driving the learning process in these contexts; and 3) assessed the required balance between the capacities of faculty and academic standards to achieve meaningful learning. These findings may be of interest to universities and policymakers in these countries and in other countries facing similar problems, even for situations at smaller scales than epidemics or pandemics.</div></div>","PeriodicalId":74826,"journal":{"name":"Social sciences & humanities open","volume":"11 ","pages":"Article 101235"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2025-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"143094261","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"OA","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
