Operation of wind turbines has an impact on the power quality and reliability at the connected electric network. Power quality problems such as voltage flicker and harmonic distortion along with reliability issues are some major concern and in this work the flicker & harmonics issues are considered. Wind turbine connected to an induction generator and synchronous generator is modeled using PSCAD software to analyze power quality and reliability problems. Due to continuously varying wind speed components, the active and reactive power along with terminal voltage fluctuates continuously. A new type of static synchronous compensator (STATCOM) unit is developed to inject reactive power by switching IGBT(s) to mitigate power quality problems and to get stable grid operation. At first, zinc thin film has been deposited on bare fluorine doped tin oxide (FTO) glass substrate by a modified thermal evaporation system with chamber pressure 0.05 mbar, source temperature 700°C, source substrate distance 3 cm and deposition time 5 min. For obtaining ZnO thin film, the prepared zinc film is annealed at 500°C for 2 hours in atmosphere. The classification is carried out to distinguish the seizure segments from the non-seizure ones. The higher order moments (specifically variance) have been calculated in various sub-bands in the wavelet transform domain and utilized as the discriminating feature in the Support Vector Machine(SVM) classifier. The method is tested on 175 hours of continuous EEG data from five patients and on an average, 99% accuracy has been achieved with very high values of sensitivity and specificity. The analysis is also extended to Rake receiver with Maximal Ratio Combining (MRC) technique with multiple receiving antenna. The results are presented in terms of BER and improvement of receiver sensitivity due to diversity. Finally, optimum values of system parameters like number of OFDM sub-carrier, optimum code length and order of receive diversity for a given BER are determined. It performs dispersion (D) in the negative flattened region. The providing bandwidth supports bands of E+S+C+L+U into the infrared region (IF) including the window III. The proposed PCF is analyzed for their properties by finite element method (FEM). A perfectly matched layer (PML) boundary is used in FEM. The application of polarization maintaining and residual dispersion compensation (RDC) can be easily performed by the proposed design as it offers high flattened negative average dispersion of -(478±8) ps.nm-1.km-1 in the wavelength (λ) limits of 1.4 to 1.7 μm (300-nm). Typically, the curvelets-based reconstruction better preserves the image features while the wave atoms-based reconstruction better preserves the oscillatory patterns of the typical ultrasound RF signals. We exploit the advantages from both the sparsifying bases via concatenating them where the RF reconstruction is done from the larger coefficients of the combined basis. We show that the CCW-based reconstruction method better recovers the RF oscillatory patterns as well as preserves the image features better than those of the curvelets- and wave atoms-based reconstruction methods alone. We find improvement with respect to the current methods of approximately 58% and 64% in terms of the normalized mean square error for the reconstructed synthetic phantom and in vivo RF data, respectively. The integration of the bifacial module into a new static Sea Shell concentrator have been accomplished to take the benefits from a large range of acceptance angle (+36° to -36°) and an average optical gain 2.815. The dependency of the short circuit current (Isc), maximum power output (Pm), and efficiency (η) on the incident angle of illumination and optical gain of the concentrator have been analyzed in this manuscript. Simulation of the performance parameters of the bifacial module has been accomplished to estimate the average electrical output from summer to winter solstice. It has been possible to obtain more than 180 % enhancement in Isc, 250 % in Pm, and 35 % in η from the rear surface of the module when integrated into Sea Shell concentrator. It is a very challenging task in respect of developing country like Bangladesh where around 2.4 million people use Bangla sign language. In this respect we propose a simple, low cost Bangla sign language translation (BSLT) system that can translate sign into Bangla text. We report on the development of universal interpreter software (UIS) that can be used by both the American and the Bangladeshi users. For this, an efficient method is proposed for skin detection & feature extraction. Our system can recognize 16 Bengali words & 11 Bengali numbers. We train our system using a database of (27×10×20) images, i.e. 10 persons containing 20 images per sign & for testing we use another 2700 (27×10×10) images.
