In this article a simple strategy is described to stabilize a grid-connected wind farm by controlling reactive power and minimizing voltage fluctuation using a simple 6-pulse Static Synchronous Compensator (STATCOM). The STATCOM is controlled by using voltage control loop with PI controller and Pulse Width Modulation with carrier frequency of 9 times fundamental and varying dc voltage. This paper also presents a comparative study of stabilizing a wind farm using this STATCOM or using only a capacitor bank during wind speed change. Simulation results show that the wind farm could be more effectively stabilized by using STATCOM. Directional constraints are imposed on the weights of an antenna array to obtain solutions of some constrained beamforming problems. For broadband antenna arrays, formulation of a constrained beamforming problem typically requires presteering the array using steering delays. These delays create implementation problems and cause loss of system performance in the presence of array imperfections. This paper presents new kind of constraints referred to as convolution constraints with robust diagonal loading techniques, which are easy to implement and eliminate the need for presteering delays. At first, we derive the expressions of secrecy spectral efficiency considering finite number of antennas at the MRC, ZF and MMSE receivers. Then, we consider the case when the number of antennas at the receivers tends to infinite and reduce the expressions of secrecy spectral efficiency. Finally, we compare the performance of MRC, ZF and MMSE receivers in enhancing security of cellular MIMO interference networks with different number of antennas at the receivers. Our results show that the performance of MRC receiver is worse than ZF and MMSE receivers. The sensor recorded centripetal acceleration profiles were tried to match with the profiles obtained by pendulum dynamics imposing the initial and final conditions. During the matching techniques the radius of rotation was varied to obtained high correlation between the two profiles. Then the drives were assessed by the radius of rotation profiles while got satisfactory matching. However, the damping constant for the pendulum dynamics for the drives was chosen constant as the same batter did the straight drives. To generate spirals, single-frequency, slowly varying amplitude sine and cosine waves are applied to the X- and Y-piezos, respectively, of the piezoelectric tube scanner (PTS) of an AFM. To demonstrate the performance improvement with the spiral scanning method, a comparison of spiral and raster scanning techniques is presented. Using fossil fuel for the generation of electricity has been the norm but alarming reasons such as depletion of fossil fuel at an increased pace and their tremendous negative impact on environment have led to growing interest in using renewable resources for generating electricity which can ensure the fulfilment of energy demand both for us and our posterity. This paper has done a pre-feasibility study on a hybrid renewable power system in Nijhum Dwip of Bangladesh which is a detached island from national grid system. The prospect of Solar, Wind and Biomass as renewable components of a hybrid system has been explored with the inclusion of a diesel generator to compare the renewable vs. conventional system both economically and environmentally. Using HOMER the most efficient system was found to have an electricity generation cost of almost BDT 20/kWh for an average load of 5.5 MWh/day with a 950 kW peak. An assessment visit to the island contributed towards load calculation.
