This allows you to see the logic of the formation of the personality of the profession in a new way. Data from sociological research served as the basis for revealing the specifics of work motivation of young people at the stage of professional self-determination, professional self-actualization, and professional self-realization. The contradiction between external and internal motivational and value factors of professional self-development is revealed. The dynamism of the socio-economic situation of modern Ukrainian society requires professional flexibility from a person. Professional self-actualization today does not look like a linear process of achievements within the once chosen profession. Motivation for constant growth and self-improvement ensures professional mobility: professional development, development of related specialties, and, if necessary, a change of profession. A person realizes his vocation to be himself in various fields of activity - industrial, scientific, artistic, managerial, pedagogical and others, the basis of which is work. For the professional self-actualization of an individual, labor activity is fundamental. The understanding of work as a sphere of human self-actualization leads to the need to create such a quality of working life that would contribute to a person's disclosure of his subjects. A person is not simply \"integrated\" into the system of labor relations as an object, a kind of \"screw\", but reveals himself as a subject of a specific professional activity, with certain requirements for work, aimed at satisfying a wide range of needs and actualizing abilities. A person's labor activity, which is especially characterized by joint work with other people, allows meeting various social needs of a person in cognition, communication, developing cognitive, communicative and other abilities. The proposed approach is of great importance not only for the theory of professional self-development of the individual, but also for solving practical tasks of increasing the effectiveness of professional education.","PeriodicalId":55832,"journal":{"name":"Social Work and Education","volume":"43 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-09-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"135127354","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The conventional method of establishing social services is currently facing criticism due to an increasing acknowledgment of the advantages associated with tailored and customised social work interventions, particularly in the context of children and young individuals. The article explores the notion of deinstitutionalization, emphasising its importance in post-conflict areas and emphasising the value of a personalised social work approach in promoting the welfare of children and young people impacted by the Russia-Ukraine war conflict. The present article is grounded in a comprehensive conceptual review of pertinent literature, encompassing books, journals, and related scholarly articles within the specific field of study. Research has endeavoured to ascertain the challenges and ramifications associated with the implementation of institutionalised social work practices. This study has also explored the potential pragmatic benefits of personalised social work interventions in areas of conflict, particularly focusing on children and adolescents. This article could also elucidate the key factors that should be taken into account while engaging with individuals, particularly children and young people, in regions characterised by war. The comprehensive endeavour would serve as a valuable resource for further examination, particularly in relation to the use of a personalised social work approach within the specific circumstances of recurrent invasions and civil conflicts.","PeriodicalId":55832,"journal":{"name":"Social Work and Education","volume":"7 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-09-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"135127348","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Emphasis is placed on researching the impact of these challenges on internally displaced persons and other vulnerable groups. The purpose of the study is to analyze the issues of the humanitarian crisis in Ukraine and its impact on internally displaced persons and other vulnerable groups. Accordingly, the following tasks are defined: to reveal the main characteristics of the humanitarian crisis in Ukraine; to analyze the challenges related to the impact of the humanitarian crisis on IDPs and other vulnerable groups; to provide recommendations on further solutions to these challenges based on existing practices. The concept of a humanitarian crisis, its signs, and specific signs in the Ukrainian context are analyzed. Statistical data related to the impact of the humanitarian crisis on vulnerable groups are presented and compared. Issues with limited access to help vulnerable groups are analyzed in detail. The specific challenges of the humanitarian crisis for women and children, as well as people with disabilities, are given. The main challenges include loss of access to public services, provision of decent living conditions, employment, and access to education. The impact of the humanitarian crisis in Ukraine on the aggravation of crises in other countries and the challenges associated with these processes are studied. The most popular practices for overcoming the humanitarian crisis are considered. The conclusions confirm that the existing practices used by international organizations to overcome the humanitarian crisis are characterized by insufficient efficiency.","PeriodicalId":55832,"journal":{"name":"Social Work and Education","volume":"50 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-09-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"135127211","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

It is emphasized that the mentioned processes are accompanied by an increase in the risks of emotional burnout and conflict in the professional activities of medical profile specialist, the need to act quickly in extreme situations and make vital decisions, which increases the urgency of the issue of the readiness of professionals for effective, partly crisis communication, which in the medical field has be characterized by timeliness, accuracy, completeness and an unambiguous understanding of a specific medical situation. Modern approaches to the interpretation of the concept of «communicative competence» both as a universal concept and taking into account the specifics of the professional activity of medical profile specialists are analyzed. It was found that communicative competence is a system of knowledge, abilities and skills of an individual that ensure effective interpersonal interaction, and includes: speech, discursive, sociolinguistic, illocutionary, strategic, linguistic and intercultural competence. It is noted that the communicative competence of a medical profile specialist presupposes the formation of contact skills, readiness to collect and analyze information, plan and convey to the patient the essence of diagnostic and treatment procedures, completion of communication, structuring of a communicative act, the ability to use various communication mechanisms in order to ensure a therapeutic effect on the patient. It was concluded that a high level of communicative competence of medical professionals determines the effectiveness of providing medical services in general, promotes understanding between all subjects of the medical care process, increases the patient's trust in the medical professional, avoids unnecessary conflicts and delays in the treatment process, etc.","PeriodicalId":55832,"journal":{"name":"Social Work and Education","volume":"87 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-05-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"135692372","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The aim of our work is to translate the original questionnaire texts for studying gender biases into Ukrainian and to conduct their validation with both professionals and social work clients. The validation of the translated research tools was carried out at the Kyiv Municipal Center for Social Services and included three focus groups with 23 professionals (social workers, psychologists) and a survey of 83 candidates for creating family education forms who underwent training at the center. Mathematical processing of the results was carried out using the IBM SPSS Statistics program, using comparative, descriptive, and correlation analysis. During the work with the questionnaires, participants in the study did not have difficulties in understanding the statements contained in the questionnaires or using the questionnaire keys. Analysis of the survey results using our translation of the S. Bem questionnaire indicates that almost one-third of respondents' answers about women contain high scores on the femininity scale, while their responses about men score high on the masculinity scale. The respondents' answers suggest that their perceptions of women and men as androgynous personalities are complemented by sex-typed perceptions of their qualities. This may indicate support for the candidates for creating family education forms with ambivalent sexism views. The use of the Glick and Fiske questionnaires revealed that respondents demonstrate more benevolent than hostile sexism. At the same time, the level of hostile and benevolent sexism was higher in men than in women. Validation of the Ukrainian versions of two questionnaires in focus groups with professionals and during the survey of candidates for creating family education forms confirmed the possibility of using adapted Ukrainian versions to study gender biases in Ukraine.","PeriodicalId":55832,"journal":{"name":"Social Work and Education","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-05-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"135692721","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Mixed methods research (MMR) has also faced criticism for its conceptual and methodological challenges. Therefore, this study will explore the research’s criticism and strategies for overcoming them. Methodology - Most of the current research works employ a mixed research methodology. Researchers use the mixed methodology to investigate challenging research questions that a single methodology cannot answer. Findings - This research paper presents results related to using mixed methods research in various fields. Some critics argue that MMR lacks methodological rigor and can be time-consuming; others acknowledge its value in providing a more comprehensive understanding of complex social phenomena and marginalized communities. MMR has successfully employed to identify gaps in student knowledge, explore the interplay between psychological and physiological factors in health and illness, and develop more effective policies. However, balancing the depth of qualitative data with the breadth of quantitative data can be challenging, leading to compromises. Practical implications - The findings of this research have important practical implications for researchers and practitioners across various fields. It can be beneficial, specifically in education, health psychology, and public policy. Recommendations - Researchers should consider using mixed methods to examine complex research questions that require a multifaceted approach. Also, they should incorporate both quantitative and qualitative data to provide a more complete understanding of the research question. MMR can help capture diverse perspectives and experiences, particularly for underrepresented populations, providing a more nuanced understanding of social phenomena. These recommendations highlight the potential benefits of using mixed methods research and suggest directions for future research.","PeriodicalId":55832,"journal":{"name":"Social Work and Education","volume":"121 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-05-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"135692367","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

It is taken into account that the main way for pedagogical workers to obtain education is training, self-study based on the rethinking of self-development and self-improvement. Based on the analysis of psychological and pedagogical literature, the essence of the scientific definitions “development” and “self-development” was analysed. Thus, “development” is considered as an active process of personality formation based on improvement. Development involves conscious behavior aimed at improving personal and professional qualities and the desire to achieve effectiveness, increase independence, and the creative nature of activity. “Self-development” is a necessary condition for the self-realisation of an individual, which involves the inner independent desire of a person to enrich their own individual qualities. Active development as well as self-development of teachers is carried out in the system of postgraduate education on the basis of the acmeological approach. The implementation of the acmeological approach increases the need for achievement, motivates teachers to act successfully, promotes them to achieve “acme”. Postgraduate education allows improving objective, subjective, procedural and performance criteria of pedagogical activity. Within the framework of self-development of teachers in the system of postgraduate education, the acmeological approach is based on four main aspects: 1) organising the acmeological environment; 2) establishing the acmeological position; 3) developing the acmeological potential; 4) improving the acmeological culture. Based on the use of the acmeological approach, the following positive achievements were reached: there increased independence in goal setting, which was based on the formulation of strategic and tactical goals, setting practical tasks, choosing effective ways of achieving the defined goal; it became possible to ensure the creative nature of educational activity on advanced training courses as every student independently created the program of their personal and professional development. The article presents a range of educational programs aimed at improving the level of general competences (speech competence, communicative competence, inclusive competence, digital competence, managerial competence, moral and ethical competence) of teachers in the system of postgraduate education at the Postgraduate Education Centre of Ternopil Volodymyr Hnatiuk Pedagogical University. Innovations in the process of organisation of advanced training courses at the Postgraduate Education Centre were analysed. After all, the presence of deviant forms of behavior among minors, as the most vulnerable socio-demographic group, poses a threat to the stability, security and progress of society. Therefore, prevention, early detection, localization of antisocial phenomena, minimizing their negative consequences and creating optimally favorable conditions for successful socialization of the individual should become a priority area of activity of specialists whose professional activities are related to children and youth. The author substantiates the feasibility of a systematic approach to improving the professional training of future specialists in the social and pedagogical sphere in the context of global priorities of social work and the modern interpretation of the mission of social and pedagogical activity as an important mechanism for the implementation of social policy tasks regarding the creation of favorable conditions for life, life support and life fulfillment of all members of society and humanization of the system of social relations.
