Employee embeddedness includes organizational and community embeddedness. Previous studies showed that employee embeddedness is a good predictor of turnover. However, other studies have subsequently demonstrated different results in employee embeddedness-turnover relationship. The present study hypothesizes that commute time, availability of nearby replacement jobs, and family embeddedness moderate the relationship between employee embeddednessturnover intentions. Data were obtained from a sample of 330 full-time employed nurses in two hospitals in Jakarta, Indonesia. Results showed that commute time and family embeddedness moderated the organizational embeddednessturnover intention relationship. Availability of nearby replacement jobs did not moderate employee embeddedness turnover intentions. Theoretical and practical implications of the findings are discussed.","PeriodicalId":53785,"journal":{"name":"Makara Hubs-Asia","volume":"19 1","pages":"39-51"},"PeriodicalIF":0.3,"publicationDate":"2015-07-10","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"71342055","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Unfortunately, studies that specifically designed to provide more understanding about the behavior of the knowledge seeker with regard to their acceptance of KMS are still quite rare. The purpose of this study is to investigate the factors that influence the behavior of knowledge seeker(s) in KMS acceptance. A research model for this study was developed using the Theory of Reasoned Action (TRA), and the data was collected from 125 knowledge seekers from three companies in Indonesia. By utilizing the Squares Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) techniques with Smart PLS V2 software, the results of the statistical analysis confirmed that there is a positive correlation between the factors of management, effort and social relationship and the intention of knowledge seeker(s) in KMS acceptance. However, the correlation between the benefit factor and the intention of knowledge seeker(s) in KMS acceptance was not found.","PeriodicalId":53785,"journal":{"name":"Makara Hubs-Asia","volume":"19 1","pages":"63-74"},"PeriodicalIF":0.3,"publicationDate":"2015-07-10","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"71342104","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This research showed that the application of cultural control by the Government clashed with the interests of local wisdom and socio-economic communities around the forest. The local community have developed strategies and tactics to resist the Government through controlling the land, determining the types of plant, and by implementing community-based forest management system. These resistance strategies and tactics is the manifestation of the socio-economic conditions which are integrated in the community culture. Through the perspective of power (Foucault) and resistance (Scott), this research shows the urgency to put culture and behavior as the focus of an analysis particularly in the midst of a strong influential political ecology perspective. The focus on culture and behavior means that an analysis on controlling culture is not only to discuss the strategy of fulfilling the formal rights of the government, but also to discuss the arrogant, repressive and proud behavior of the government of its authority and power. Equally, the analysis of the culture of resistance does not only discuss the strategy to get the formal rights of the community, but also deliberate on the behavior of the community to implement their strategy quietly, secretly, and • while avoiding the forest staff.","PeriodicalId":53785,"journal":{"name":"Makara Hubs-Asia","volume":"19 1","pages":"27-38"},"PeriodicalIF":0.3,"publicationDate":"2015-01-07","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"71342043","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The study was conducted on 100 employees from various levels and positions in a company that produce and trade electronic solar equipment. To measure the organizational memory, we used Organizational Memory Scale developed by Dunhamm (2010) with α=0.75. Then, to measure innovative work behavior, we used Innovative Work Behavior Scale from Janssen (2000) with α=0.80. The results show that there is positive and significant correlation between organizational memory and innovative workbehavior (r=0.35; p<0.01). Hierarchical-regression analysis shows that (1) altogether education level, job type and organizational memory influences 19% of variance in innovative behavior; (2) when these variables are analysed together, only education level shows significant impact on innovative behavior. We discuss theoretical and methodological reasons for these results and offer future direction for research. This assessment also ranks the participant countries based on their performance and makes inferences about factors affecting achievement and learning. However, the study may not function as it was expected because of differences in curricular, cultural, or language settings among countries. Consequently, this challenges assumptions about measurement equivalency. The present study aims to assess the equivalency of mathematics items on the TIMSS (2007) study across Australian and Indonesia. Students’ responses were subjected to Rasch analysis to determine DIF items. The results revealed that many items of mathematics tests are problematic because they showed significant bias. The study also found that Australian students performed better and found mathematics items on the test easier than their Indonesian counterparts did. Several factors such as curricular differences, methods used to solve mathematics problems, availability of textbooks and teachers’ quality might explain the existence of DIF between the countries. These findings indicate that serious limitations of using TIMSS results in comparing the performance of students across countries. Thus, further empirical evidence is needed before TIMSS 2007 results can be meaningfully used in research. Statistical analyses show a number of significant correlations between these variables, among which gender ideology seems to be of particular importance. Perhaps the most enlightening finding of all is that despite their lower GEM rank compared to Japan, the Indonesian respondents have relatively egalitarian division of labor in their households. This finding provides a new insight that GEM, which emphasizes the political economy aspects of a country, may not be sufficient to capture gender disparities without considering other socio-cultural factors in the complexity of day-to-day actual division of housework. The study aims to understand the process of social change as well as other theoretical problems with attention to contextual factors of the emergence of such variations. Individuals are active agents in interpreting phenomena and make decisions. Using an ethnographic approach and progressive contextualization, I am able to describe the variation in responses of Kahuman village farmers, Polanharjo Subdistrict, Klaten Regency, when Inpari 13 Programme was carried out. During the growing season of Inpari 13 in 2011, Kahuman’s farmers responded differently to program admission process, realization of planting, and pest control through spraying. This study tries to answer “Who or what are the main reasons of smoking for Indonesian adolescents, especially in DI Yogyakarta?” through Theory of Triadic Influences (cultural environment, social situation, and biology/personality). Current studies have focused only on cultural environment (mass media) and social situation (family and friends) influence. The sampling was conducted through convenience sampling method to 390 adolescents from 12 junior high schools in DI Yogyakarta. The average age of the subjects is 14 years old, with male to female ratio 55.6%:44.4%. The data were collected through anonymous questionnaires consisting of seven parts. Descriptive analysis was applied to the collected data by means of Chi Square test and logistic regression. The result showed that friends' influence was the strongest compared with mass media and family to adolescents' smoking behavior. Among several sub-agents of mass media, it was not television but billboards that had stronger influence. Parents' influence was not significant compared with siblings and other family members. School friends' influence was not significant compared with friends from school and other friends. Library study, participatory observation, and in-depth interview are methods used in this research, while the analysis uses functional-structural method. The result of this study shows that the Seblang ritual is a social institution functioned by Using people as an integral part of their social structure. The sacredness of Seblang also become a meeting point between “alam alus” and “alam kasar”; between the spirits of village's ancestors (dhanyang) and human beings; between macro cosmos and micro cosmos. The existence of the Seblang ritual's institution crosses over the temporal boundaries, so until now Using people still maintain the practice as their social and cultural condition support its preservation. The cultural condition relates to religious and knowledge system, while the social condition relates to social structure and geographical environment of village. Such cultural and social conditions become the belief of Using people toward socio-cultural function of Seblang, particularly for fertility in agriculture and their welfare. “The outer power”, both state's authority and political parties, cannot intervene the Seblang ritual. Implicit memory and meta-cognition constructed in the minds of the public have contributed to their belief in the value of sacred Seblang ritual.
