Numerosos autores reconocidos los han empleado en diferentes momentos de la historia para expresar de forma sintetica un determinado ideario arquitectonico, por lo que su analisis desde la actualidad permite comprender facilmente el contexto del que surgieron. Charles y Ray Eames encabezan la lista de arquitectos fascinados por los juguetes: los coleccionaban, los exhibian y tambien los disenaban para producirlos en serie. Uno de los juguetes mas innovadores y comercialmente exitosos que crearon fue la House of Cards: una baraja de cartas impresas con motivos graficos o fotografias que se encajaban entre si mediante seis ranuras para conformar varias estructuras tridimensionales. El pequeno objeto condensa conceptos presentes en todo su trabajo: el juego como objeto y como metodologia, el cambio de escala y el proceso de trabajo concatenado, lo individual en lo seriado, la importancia de lo cotidiano, de la coleccion y de la fotografia, el uso de la imagen multiple, el origen de la obra como regalo, la celebracion permanente y la conexion de la vida con el arte. El articulo se propone asi desarrollar los rasgos mas caracteristicos de la obra de los Eames a traves de este atractivo objeto, mostrar su influencia en otros autores y obras, y rescatarlo de su extenso legado como metodo creativo y laboratorio de experimentacion para futuras arquitecturas. SUMMARY Toys often arouse the interest of architects. Many recognized authors have used them at different times in history to express in a synthetic way a certain architectural ideology, so its analysis from the present allows us to easily understand the context from which it emerged. Charles and Ray Eames top the list of architects fascinated by toys: they collected them, exhibited them, and also designed them to produce them in series. One of the most innovative and commercially successful toys they created was the House of Cards: a deck of playing cards, printed with graphic motifs or photographs, that fit together with six slots to form several three-dimensional structures. The small object condenses concepts present in all their work: the game, as object and as methodology, the change of scale and the process of concatenated work, the particular in the mass produced, the importance of the everyday, of the collection and photography, the use of the multiple image, the origin of the work as a gift, the permanent celebration, and the connection of life with art. The article aims to develop the most characteristic features of the Eames’ work through this attractive object, showing its influence on other authors and works, and rescuing it from their extensive legacy as a creative method and experimentation laboratory for future architecture.","PeriodicalId":52067,"journal":{"name":"Proyecto Progreso Arquitectura","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.2,"publicationDate":"2019-05-18","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"49325245","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":4,"RegionCategory":"艺术学","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Since then we have sparked research in architecture and urbanism. However, progress is slow, with continual changes, and we are still entangled in an uncertain continuum. We celebrate our tenth anniversary with the issue More than architecture (Mas que arquitectura). El espacio de “lo eventual” muestra multitud de experiencias en relacion con ello, en las que distintas disciplinas artisticas y tecnicas han venido interactuando a lo largo del tiempo encontrandose unas con otras, muchas veces en sus zonas fronterizas, expandiendose asi hacia nuevos caminos. Jugando un papel especial esta la arquitectura, capaz de colaborar y enriquecerse con otros campos sin dejar de ser, por ello, una importante area especifica y propia de conocimiento. Asi ocurre en determinadas intervenciones desarrolladas en el “espacio evento” por el arquitecto Renzo Piano junto a equipos interdisciplinares de colaboradores, verdaderos laboratorios experimentales. Tal es el caso del espacio musical y escenico para la opera Prometeo (1984) y del espacio expositivo para la Fondazione Vedova en Venecia (2000-2009), ya en la actualidad de nuestro siglo XXI. En ellos, la produccion de movimiento se presenta como una estrategia proyectual que abre nuevas y diversas posibilidades de una experiencia de la arquitectura como autentico “acontecimiento”, lo que resulta ademas de especial interes en intervenciones de espacios patrimoniales, como sucede en ambos casos. Todo esto podria llevarnos a una mayor comprension del proyecto arquitectonico en el complejo momento actual: un proyecto generador de una arquitectura mas dinamica, abierta, participativa y social de cara al futuro. SUMMARY “ The mobile ” (lo movil) is a quality of undoubted presence in the shaping of our environment, and therefore important to be taken into account by the contemporary architectural project. The space for events shows a multitude of experiences in relation to it, in which different artistic disciplines and techniques have been interacting over time, meeting each other, often in their border areas, thus branching out into new paths. Playing a special role is architecture, capable of collaborating and enriching itself with other fields but without ceasing to be an important and specific area of knowledge. This happens in certain interventions developed in the “event space” by the architect Renzo Piano together with authentic experimental laboratories of interdisciplinary teams of collaborators. Such is the case of the scenic and musical space for the opera Prometeo (1984) and the exhibition space for the Fondazione Vedova in Venice already in our 21 st century (2000-2009). In them, the production of movement is presented as a project design strategy that opens new and diverse possibilities of an architecture experience as a real “event”, which is also of special interest in interventions of heritage spaces, as in both cases. All this could lead to a better understanding of the architectural project in this complex moment: a project able to generate a more dynamic, open, social and particip","PeriodicalId":52067,"journal":{"name":"Proyecto Progreso Arquitectura","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.2,"publicationDate":"2019-05-18","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"49012011","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":4,"RegionCategory":"艺术学","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

DE LA ARQUITECTURA NARRATIVA Y LAS NARRACIONES ARQUITECTÓNICAS AL ARQUITECTO COMO CONTADOR DE HISTORIAS","authors":"Luis Miguel Lus Arana","doi":"10.12795/PPA.2019.I20.03","DOIUrl":"https://doi.org/10.12795/PPA.2019.I20.03","url":null,"abstract":"RESUMEN Las ficciones, entendidas en un sentido amplio, forman parte del quehacer habitual del arquitecto. Desde la definicion del programa al proceso de proyecto, los arquitectos requerimos de narrativas que guien nuestra toma de decisiones. La ficcion, en sentido estricto, ha estado presente tambien en diferentes formas a lo largo de la historia de la arquitectura, proporcionando ideas alternativas u ofreciendo entornos propicios para la especulacion, la generacion de discursos y de criticas. “Ficciones…” propone un sucinto recorrido por los modos en que la ficcion ha interactuado historicamente con la disciplina como punto de partida para analizar el trabajo de una nueva generacion de arquitectos que, en un momento de particular difusion de limites entre aquella y su periferia, la utilizan de maneras diversas. La primera parte analiza el tradicional uso de la ficcion como catalizador de procesos de proyecto ejemplificado en el trabajo de la firma estadounidense Design With Company. A partir de este, el texto pasa a examinar el fenomeno que, agrupado en torno al debate sobre la arquitectura-ficcion, ve como profesionales de la arquitectura encuentran en la produccion de ficcion arquitectonica un campo alternativo de ejercicio profesional. SUMMARY Fictions, taken in a broad sense, are part of the architect’s daily practice. From the definition of the program to the design process, architects need narratives to guide their decision making. Fiction, in the strict sense, has also been present in different forms throughout the history of architecture, providing alternative ideas or offering favorable environments for speculation, and for the generation of discourses and criticism. “Fictions…” offers a quick overview of the ways in which fiction has interacted historically with the discipline as a starting point to analyze the work of a new generation of architects who, working at a time of blurring of boundaries between architecture and its periphery, use it in different ways. The first part analyzes the traditional use of fiction as a trigger for design processes, using the work of the American office Design With Company as a case study. Secondly, the text examines the phenomenon which, emerging from the discussion on architecture-fiction, finds architects gravitating towards the production of architectural fictions as an alternative field to practice the profession.","PeriodicalId":52067,"journal":{"name":"Proyecto Progreso Arquitectura","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.2,"publicationDate":"2019-05-18","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"43270280","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":4,"RegionCategory":"艺术学","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

El profesorado de la Escuela de Arquitectura y Diseno de la Pontificia Universidad Catolica de Valparaiso configuro una corporacion cuyos miembros desarrollaron su vida, tanto personal como profesional, en este mismo espacio en el cual llevaron a cabo su obra. Desde los anos sesenta se fueron gestando aqui una serie de construcciones que superaban el hecho puramente proyectual para aunar en si un discurso en el que, partiendo de un acto poetico sobre el lugar, se acababa materializando un elemento que era mucho mas que arquitectura, ya que podia ir desde el montaje de una escenografia a una escultura o una poesia. Una de estas obras sera la denominada Hospederia del Errante, una construccion que desde su origen intentara sintetizar, mediante un importante proyecto fundamentado en Amereida, toda la tecnica procedente del mundo de las ingenierias aeronautica y naval. A partir del acceso a las fuentes ineditas del archivo Jose Vial Armstrong, archivo de la Escuela de Arquitectura y Diseno, el articulo recoge la genesis y el desarrollo de este proyecto que fue capaz de aunar un importante ejercicio docente y experimental bajo el contexto poetico que ha caracterizado toda la trayectoria de esta singular escuela. EnglishThe Ciudad Abierta project, developed by the Amereida Cultural Corporation in Valparaiso (Chile), was created as a physical space which had a place for experimentation, learning and life from the experience of poetry and architecture. The faculty of the School of Architecture and Design of the Pontifical Catholic University of Valparaiso formed a corporation, whose members developed their personal and professional lives in this same space in which they undertook their work. From the Sixties, a series of constructions were being developed here, that went beyond the pure fact of design, to combine within itself a discourse which, starting from a poetic document on the place, ended up bringing to life an element that was much more that architecture, since it could range from the assembly of a scenography to sculpture or poetry. One of these works would be the so-called Hospederia del Errante, a construction that, from its beginning, would attempt to encapsulate all the techniques from the world of aeronautical and naval engineering, by means of an important project based on the Amereida. With access to the unpublished sources of the Jose Vial Armstrong archive, and the archive of the School of Architecture and Design, the article reviews the genesis and the development of this project, which was able to combine an important educational and experimental exercise, under the poetic context that has characterised the whole development of this unique school.","PeriodicalId":52067,"journal":{"name":"Proyecto Progreso Arquitectura","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.2,"publicationDate":"2019-05-18","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"47525101","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":4,"RegionCategory":"艺术学","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
