A structural equation modeling was applied to examine the relationship among variables using the data collected from Bangladesh's crowded and popular tourist attractions. The study found that neutral crowding has significant negative effects and personal crowding has significant positive effects on destination attractiveness, but social crowding has no relationship with destination attractiveness. Moreover, social crowding directly affects tourist loyalty, but neutral and personal crowding indirectly affect tourist loyalty by mediating destination attractiveness. This study suggested a new result: TPC has both negative and positive impacts on destination attractiveness in overcrowded destinations. From the management perspective, the study suggested interesting insights for crowding and destination management, which ultimately affect tourist loyalty.
","PeriodicalId":51375,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Tourism Research","volume":"27 2","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":4.1,"publicationDate":"2025-02-28","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"https://onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/epdf/10.1002/jtr.2764","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"143513678","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":3,"RegionCategory":"管理学","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"OA","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Drawing upon social identity framework, gender affirmation contributes to membership and belongingness within a gender group, enhancing social acceptance. Medical tourism is often the only option for some transgender individuals due to local social stigma and discrimination, exposing them to greater vulnerability. However, there is limited research that explores transgender perspectives. This study deploys planned behavior and protection motivation theories to identify influential factors in transgender medical travel intentions. Employing a structured survey, rigorously designed and distributed among 435 Thai and Filipino transgender participants, the research quantitatively assessed how attitudes, norms, efficacy, and identity factors significantly influence their decisions, overshadowing health threat perceptions. Findings suggest responsible strategies that promote holistic transgender well-being and highlight the need for a nuanced approach when navigating sociocultural and legal dynamics in transgender medical tourism.
\u0000
","PeriodicalId":51375,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Tourism Research","volume":"27 2","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":4.1,"publicationDate":"2025-02-28","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"143513680","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":3,"RegionCategory":"管理学","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This study aims to reveal which elements of tourism short videos can effectively trigger psychological and behavioral engagement. Based on informational ecosystems, resonance theory, and stimulus–organism–response (SOR) theory, this study used SPSS 26.0 and AMOS 26.0 to analyze data from an online survey conducted with 712 participants. The analysis revealed that information quality, perceived similarity, decision support tool, recommendation signal, and community atmosphere motivate cognitive and emotional resonances, which in turn triggers psychological and behavioral engagement. Furthermore, the community atmosphere moderates these above effects. In partnership with Cumbria Tourism (local DMO), this study conducted in Cumbria, UK, home of the Lake District National Park, the research utilized 1217 quantitative surveys to analyse visitor personality traits, motivations, and activities. Through factor and cluster analysis, five unique visitor segments were identified: Reserved Explorers, Culturally Curious, Diligent Adventurers, Social Explorers, and Balanced Explorers. Each segment displayed distinctive traits, motivations, and activities, further supplemented by chi-square tests that highlighted socio-demographic differences. The findings underscore the value of incorporating personality traits through digital footprints for dynamic segmentation. This methodology not only offers deeper insights into visitor profiles, but it also aids in developing customized marketing strategies and products, determining activity preferences and providing a competitive edge for tourism destinations globally.
","PeriodicalId":51375,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Tourism Research","volume":"27 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":4.1,"publicationDate":"2025-02-20","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"https://onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/epdf/10.1002/jtr.70006","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"143455964","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":3,"RegionCategory":"管理学","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"OA","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Empirical data were collected from 183 flight attendants with over 1 year of experience in the airline industry. Initial responses were analyzed using confirmatory factor analysis, revealing that burnout symptoms are driven by four factors: physical, emotional, socio-relational, and attitudinal. Subsequent data analysis indicated that all four factors significantly impact absenteeism and turnover intentions. Furthermore, emotional intelligence was found to play a significant moderating role in the relationship between burnout symptoms and absenteeism. As burnout symptoms increase, absenteeism levels rise, leading to higher turnover intentions. Finally, absenteeism was found to lead to turnover intentions. Drawing upon the technology acceptance model (TAM), the study seeks to find out the context-specific considerations that exert a greater influence on the intention to visit destinations associated with the mobile game. Using a quantitative approach, data from 263 respondents were collected in Malaysia via an online survey. Partial least-squares structural equation modelling was used to perform latent variable analysis. The findings show the significant effects of perceived ease of play and motivation to play on attitude and intention towards visiting the game destination. In particular, motivation to play is found to exert a greater effect on visit intention. Contradictory results about perceived enjoyment and the importance of motivation are also highlighted. This study adds to the literature that calls for the expansion of the TAM to include context-specific considerations to articulate tourism gamification behaviour and the (un)intended effect on tourism visit intention. Specifically, the importance of context to TAM is unveiled through the motivation to play games related to tourism on a mobile phone. In contrast, this study points to the negligible influence of perceived enjoyment of games on intention to visit.
\u0000
","PeriodicalId":51375,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Tourism Research","volume":"27 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":4.1,"publicationDate":"2025-02-03","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"143111297","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":3,"RegionCategory":"管理学","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This study examines how pandemic-induced spatial motives and changes impacted disparities in leisure mobility, specifically urban-to-rural tourism, in Sweden. Analyzing pre-pandemic, during pandemic, and post-pandemic periods, using anonymized mobile phone and socioeconomic data, the paper explores urban–rural leisure mobility variations. Despite a decline in professional geographical mobility, mainly of people in affluent urban areas, due to remote work, the spatial leisure activities remained rather stable? Our findings, based on a negative binomial regression analysis, reveal also exacerbated socioeconomic segregation in recreational trips. The disruption in mobility accessibility due to COVID-19 appears to amplify existing socioeconomic disparities, notably in urban-to-rural leisure travel.
