{"title":"Exploring the metaverse in the education of healthcare students: A scoping review.","authors":"Andrea Bernardes, Lucas Gardim, Agostinho A C Araújo, Rodrigo Jensen, Raquel Acciarito Motta, Denise Maria de Almeida, Roberta Rubia de Lima, Heloísa Helena Ciqueto Peres","doi":"10.1590/1518-8345.7256.4347","DOIUrl":"10.1590/1518-8345.7256.4347","url":null,"abstract":"<p><strong>Objective: </strong>to map the literature on the incorporation of the metaverse in the education of undergraduate healthcare students.</p><p><strong>Method: </strong>scoping review following the recommendations of the JBI and Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses Extension for Scoping Reviews (PRISMA-ScR), performed on Web of Science, Medical Literature Analysis and Retrieval System Online (MEDLINE) via PubMed, Embase, Scopus, Cumulative Index to Nursing and Allied Health (CINAHL), Latin American and Caribbean Health Sciences Literature (LILACS) and ProQuest.</p><p><strong>Results: </strong>a total of 23 records were included, published between 2020 and 2023, and developed in 10 countries. The metaverse allows the simulation of hypothetical cases, making education interactive and attractive. However, it faces limitations, including the possibility of depersonalizing students, concerns about data security and privacy, and the high cost of implementing and maintaining its infrastructure.</p><p><strong>Conclusion: </strong>the metaverse enables the development of clinical competencies that support the construction of students' professional identity. Maternal-fetal attachment (outcome), sociodemographic and clinical variables, social support, family functionality, depressive symptoms and perceived stress were assessed. Multivariate analysis was adopted using structural equation modeling.</p><p><p>maternal-fetal attachment had an average of 92.6 (SD=±15.3). The adjusted structural model showed that the following factors had a direct effect on the outcome: gestational weeks (β=0.29; p<0.001), household crowding (β=-0.07; p=0.027), depressive symptoms (β=-0.11; p=0.003), social support (β=0.08; p<0.001) and family functionality (β=0.19; p<0.001). Indirect effects of social support (β=-0.29; p<0.001) and family functionality (β=-0.20; p<0.001) were identified, mediated by depressive symptoms.</p><p><p>a set of interrelationships was identified between maternal-fetal attachment, gestational weeks, household crowding, depressive symptoms, social support and family functionality. The data was collected through a semi-structured interview with twelve Primary Health Care nurses and analyzed using the deductive technique proposed by the Theorical Domains Framework, the methodological reference adopted.</p><p><strong>Results: </strong>the data analyzed made it possible to draw up two themes: \"Nurses' work: material and social determinants\" and \"Nurses' subjective conditions in the face of mental health crisis situations\". Nurses' work was guided by the protocol execution of \"technical\" steps related to clinical psychiatry, with an understanding of the crisis as a \"psychiatric outbreak\".</p><p><strong>Conclusion: </strong>the study made it possible to analyze the nurse's work in crisis situations, describing the objective and subjective contradictions, their understanding of the crisis phenomenon and the emotional repercussions of this work on the professionals. Information retrieval was performed using a specific instrument, including: title, authorship, year of publication, journal, objective, study design and description of the protocols' content.</p><p><strong>Results: </strong>a total of 24 studies were included, which resulted in different protocols. The most frequent recommendations were the following: three sessions per day; with a frequency of six to 15 contractions per session; performing the exercises in the lying, sitting, and standing positions. The most cited guidelines in the protocols were anal sphincter and bulbocavernosus muscle contractions. All protocols followed the principle of regular pelvic floor muscle contraction, but there was no consensus regarding the start of the protocol, treatment duration, contraction/relaxation time, and intensity of the contraction force.</p><p><strong>Conclusion: </strong>different orientations were found in the pelvic floor muscle training protocols post-prostatectomy urinary incontinence, with emphasis on contraction time, relaxation time, number of contractions per session, training position, and protocol duration time. Different concepts were adopted to define urinary continence in the protocols. This instrument, before the intervention, was associated with age, education, number of pregnancies and having had prenatal care; after the intervention, in addition to these, it was associated with other variables, such as place of residence, being in school and having used contraception. Acting on parental norms and perceptions is vital to success in addressing children's time spent on mobile devices. {"title":"Complications in the use of peripherally inserted central catheter associated with peripheral intravenous therapy: retrospective cohort.","authors":"Elizângela Santana Dos Santos, Elaine Barros Ferreira, Fernanda Titareli Merizio Martins Braga, Amanda Salles Margatho, Paulo Sousa, Renata Cristina de Campos Pereira Silveira","doi":"10.1590/1518-8345.7173.4341","DOIUrl":"https://doi.org/10.1590/1518-8345.7173.4341","url":null,"abstract":"<p><strong>Objective: </strong>to analyze the occurrence of difficulty in the peripheral insertion of the central catheter and the presence of complications in the use of this device in hospitalized adults who received peripheral intravenous therapy through a short peripheral intravenous catheter and to identify whether there is an association between peripheral intravenous therapy and the presence of complications in the use of the peripherally inserted central catheter.</p><p><strong>Method: </strong>retrospective cohort, with patients aged 18 years or over, in a tertiary teaching hospital, with a peripherally inserted central catheter, who had at least one previous short peripheral intravenous catheter. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics and Poisson regression.</p><p><strong>Results: </strong>the sample consisted of 76 patients. There was an association between difficulty in the insertion procedure and number of punctures (p<0.01) and insertion in the external jugular vein compared to the upper limbs (p<0.01). The insertion site was also associated with the removal of the peripherally inserted central catheter due to complications in the robust analysis of variance (p=0.02). No associations were identified between: difficulty inserting the device and time on peripheral intravenous therapy (crude model p=0.23; adjusted model p=0.21); difficulty in insertion with administration of irritating and vesicant medication (crude model p=0.69; adjusted model p=0.53); complication in the use of peripherally inserted central catheter and time of peripheral intravenous therapy (crude and adjusted models p=0.08); and secondary migration of the catheter tip with the device insertion site (p=0.24).</p><p><strong>Conclusion: </strong>it was possible to identify secondary migration as one of the main complications, resulting in premature removal of the device. Furthermore, the greater the number of puncture attempts to insert the PICC, the greater the difficulty in inserting it. {"title":"Promoting mental health in the workplace: web software development and validation.","authors":"Evelin Daiane Gabriel Pinhatti, Regina Celia Bueno Rezende Machado, Rosangela Aparecida Pimenta, André Estevam Jaques, Maria do Carmo Fernandez Lourenço Haddad","doi":"10.1590/1518-8345.7181.4353","DOIUrl":"https://doi.org/10.1590/1518-8345.7181.4353","url":null,"abstract":"<p><strong>Objective: </strong>to develop and validate the content and technical aspects of a web software program for promoting mental health in the workplace.</p><p><strong>Method: </strong>applied methodological study and technological development, carried out in three stages: 1) Umbrella review development; 2) Web software development; 3) Content and technical validation carried out by 14 judges. The data was submitted to descriptive statistical analysis and calculation of the content validity index.</p><p><strong>Results: </strong>based on the guidelines' recommendations, information was defined and extracted in order to develop the web software consisting of the following dimensions: mental health education, support among coworkers, promotion strategies and mental health self-assessment. For the technical development, the objectives, general functions and technological infrastructure were defined. After development and functional testing, the version was made available for content and technical validation by judges.
