This study used a descriptive qualitative approach. The data of this study were 22 songs lyrics by E.L.Pohan. The source of the data was taken from kidung jemaat Hymn song book. The result of this study showed that there are three types of methods used in translating English Hymn song lyrics in to Indonesian language. The most dominant used by the translator is the Adaptation method (68,18%). The data were analyzed in descriptive qualitative research. The data of this research were from the utterance of Friends’ cast or character. The data were taken from all the words, phrases, clauses, sentences in Friends transcript which available on the internet. The data were analyzed by descriptive qualitative. The source of data in this research from subtitle english-indonesian subtitle of green book movie. The instrument for collecting data in this research is a documentary technique. the instrument of collecting data are used recorder and analyzed based on theory by Catford (1965). The results of the study show that 1) There are 303 data category shifts in the English-Indonesian subtitled Green Book film according to the results of the study. In total, there are four types of shifts: structure shift (24.8%), class shift (5.9%), unit shift (45.5%), and intra-system shift (which makes up the rest) (23.8%). The reason why the translation shift occurs in the green book movie subtitle is because of the textual equivalent. In translation shift, the shift occurs at the grammatical and lexical levels. Textual equivalent is a translation utterance between the source language and the target language. Some translations have no formal correspondence between the two language code systems. This study discusses the translation techniques used for translating. The data of this study is descriptive qualitative based on types and sentences that use translation techniques based on Molina and Albir's theory taken from the translation text. In gathering the data, the researchers use the interview method. Based on the data analysis, use 8 techniques found in the data. This study used the theory of Gender Inequality by Sylvia Walby (1990) and that there are 6 types of gender inequality, namely household production, paid work, the patriarchal state, male violence, sexuality and culture. It was conducted by applying descriptive qualitative method. The source of the data was taken from the dialogues and pictures of characterization of main character found in Ma film. The data were collected by using documentation technic. The data were analyzed by using descriptive qualitative analysis. The findings of this study showed that the characteristics of Sue Ann’s before she met Ben Hawkins and after she met him. There were factors that influence the changes of personality development by Hurlock (1976) included those condition are physical changes, environment, significant people, and social pressure. One of the most famous beauty influencer named Suhay Salim in her beauty product reviews videos on her YouTube channel often applying hyperbolic utterances. By following Claridge (2011) and Cano Mora (2006) theory of hyperbole, the study aims to find out the form of hyperbole that used by Suhay Salim in her beauty product reviews videos, and also how the hyperbolic utterance conveyed and why they used in the ways they are. In order to achieve the aims, the data is in the form of utterances that was selected from two of Suhay Salim’s most popular videos which contain skincare products review on her YouTube channel. The study adopts descriptive qualitative research method in order to give detailed explanation in describing the phenomenon. The results show that Suhay Salim uses six forms of hyperbole such as single word, phrasal, clausal, numerical, comparison and repetition hyperbole. And they are conveyed through variations of words, phrases and clauses. There are found some hyperbolic markers which can be grouped into two hyperbole form. There are found more than one hyperbolic marker in one example. And there are also found some examples have the same hyperbolic utterance. The translation of subtitles on movie is strongly influenced by grammar and culture. To get the right meaning, a translation strategy is needed in translating subtitles on movie that can adjust the cultural context from the source language to the target language. This study aims to find out the subtitle strategy applied in translating the movie subtitle \"Murder On The Orient Express\" related to culture and to clarify the reason subtitle strategy that related to culture context occur in the movie subtitle. This research was conducted using a qualitative descriptive method. The data found in this study were 563 data. The results showed that there were 7 translation strategies related to cultural context that were applied to the translation of the subtitle \"Murder On The Orient Express\" movie. They were direct translation found 269 times, generalization used 100 times, substitution used 76 times, retention used 49 times, specification used 43 times, omission used 25 times and official equivalent used 1 time. The subtitles in this movie contain cultural bound terms and the grammatical structure of the language used by the actors is influenced by their respective cultures. Therefore, the subtitle strategy related to the cultural context occurs in the subtitle of this movie. This study aims to (a) find out the signs that found in “Imperfect: Karir, Cinta dan Timbangan” film and (b) describe how the signs interpreted in “Imperfect: Karir, Cinta dan Timbangan” film. This reasearch uses descriptive qualitative method. The data were taken from words and phrases which are collected from ‘Imperfect: Karir, Cinta dan Timbangan’ film script. The results shows that there were 15 signs found in Imperfect: Karir, Cinta dan Timbangan film. Timbangan (balance) as the most frequent signs was about 8 data such as: stranded whale; stairs vibration; power head waste; eating tissue; broccoli hair; remember your thigh; you are so fat ya, but it’s OK it’s fresh; and both of you are so different, even you are sisterhood, followed by Cinta (love) with 4 data namely: moles; stretch mark, reduce the rice; and use sunblock, and 3 data for Karir (career) such as pregnant; round face; and she is so old school. The signs includes in Karir (career) when it relates to the development, growth, and progress of someone’s job/profession. The signs that associate to Cinta (love) connects to the deepest someone’s emotional and interpersonal affection. The signs Timbangan (balance) that have a correlation with someone’s weight and physical condition or appearance. Timbangan (balance) were realized by the utterance that refers to physical condition and closely to mock. Cinta (love) associate to the word, gesture, or utterances that express a love or deepest personal affection. The aims of this study were: to find out the types of politeness strategy used by male and female students by using Brown and Levinson (1987) politeness theory, to find out the differences and reason of politeness strategy used by male and female students in requesting on WhatsApp. The descriptive qualitative method were used in this research, and the data were derived from the WhatsApp message script. The findings of the study showed that male students applied 3 politeness strategies proposed by Brown and Levinson (1987): bald-on record (21 sentences), positive politeness (8 sentences), negative politeness (3 sentences). The researcher also found that female students applied 4 politeness strategies proposed by Brown and Levinson (1987): bald-on record strategy (5 sentences), positive politeness (7 sentences), negative politeness (17 sentences), and off record (5 sentences). The significant difference in politeness strategies used by male and female students are that there is no off record strategy used by male students, they apply the bald-on record strategy more often, while female students are more varied in using of politeness strategies and mostly applied the negative politeness. The difference of male and female students politeness strategy in requesting on WhatsApp because each gender has own way in conveying their want.
