However, when it becomes excessive and intense, it can lead to a generalized anxiety disorder. Validated and specific assessments related to parental worries are lacking in the literature.</p></div><div><h3>Objective</h3><p>This article presents a French adaptation and validation of a self-reported questionnaire assessing the parental worries about the child's health evolution: “le questionnaire d’inquiétudes parentales en santé” (QIPS-R15) [translating: the parental worry questionnaire in health]. Method. A sample of parents whose child suffers from a chronic disease (<em>n</em> <!-->=<!--> <!-->94) filled in three questionnaires: the parental worry questionnaire in health, the anxiety and depressive questionnaire and the intolerance of uncertainty questionnaire.</p></div><div><h3>Results</h3><p>The exploratory factorial analysis with an oblique rotation “Oblimin direct” confirms the two-dimensional structures of the QIPS-R15. The two dimensions are: the worry intensity (7 items) and the context and the management of worries by the parent (3 items). Significant and positive correlations were observed between the three questionnaires. {"title":"Are organisational politics responsible for turnover intention in French Firefighters?","authors":"M. Burakova , A. McDowall , C. Bianvet","doi":"10.1016/j.erap.2022.100764","DOIUrl":"10.1016/j.erap.2022.100764","url":null,"abstract":"<div><h3>Purpose</h3><p>The purpose of this paper is to examine the effect of different facets of perceived organisational politics and workplace attitudes onto turnover intention in the French Fire and Rescue service.</p></div><div><h3>Methodology</h3><p>An electronic survey was administered to fire department employees (<em>n</em> <!-->=<!--> <!-->255) to investigate the effects of different forms of perceived organisational politics (POP) onto turnover intention, and test for mediation by affective organisational commitment and job satisfaction with structural equation modelling (Lisrel 8.80).</p></div><div><h3>Findings</h3><p>Both pay-and-promotion and general perceived organisational politics indirectly predicted turnover intention in French firefighters, although the total effect of pay-and-promotion politics was greater than general politics. Affective organisational commitment and job satisfaction mediated the effect of perceived organisational politics onto turnover intention.</p></div><div><h3>Practical implications</h3><p>Public organisations, which have recently undergone reorganisations, should monitor perceptions of organisational politics to better understand the association with attitudes (such as affective organisational commitment and job satisfaction), as well as to predict turnover intention.</p></div><div><h3>Originality/value</h3><p>The study goes expands on the identification of various turnover intention's antecedents to contribute to consider understanding of its reasons, such as perceived organisational politics, where pay-and-promotion politics appears to be more salient factor than general politics. Affective organisational commitment and job satisfaction mediate the effects of POP onto turnover intention with nuanced effects. We also generated support for the order of factors in the model, where job satisfaction is a first-order predictor of turnover intention and organisational commitment second-order one. However, rarely is this interpersonal style considered alongside other facets of relational behaviours such as directive support and control.</p></div><div><h3>Objective</h3><p>The present study aimed to distinguish the three styles by providing a tool that can simultaneously assess them.</p></div><div><h3>Method</h3><p>A total sample of 710 French Canadians involved in a romantic relationship was used for factor extraction and test of dimensionality as well as reliability. Predictive validity was tested using multiple linear regressions with six outcomes: well-being, relationship quality, closeness, goal progress, cooperation and conflicts.</p></div><div><h3>Results</h3><p>Results suggested three distinct interpersonal styles, each of which showing a different pattern of prediction with the outcomes. Overall, autonomy support was associated with positive outcomes, whereas control was associated with negative outcomes. As for directive support, the global pattern was between the two others.</p></div><div><h3>Conclusion</h3><p>The present research offers a scale which simultaneously assesses and distinguishes the autonomy-supportive, directive-supportive and controlling styles in a romantic relationship context using three items each. The scale is designed in order to identify individuals with high sensitivity.</p></div><div><h3>Objective</h3><p>The objective was to develop a French version of the scale. We tested its internal consistency and test-retest reliability on a French population sample. Another aim of this study was also to question the multidimensionality of the scale, for which several different models are suggested within the literature.</p></div><div><h3>Method</h3><p>After translation and back-translation, a validation study was conducted on 814 adults. They were invited to complete an online questionnaire during the lockdown implemented due to COVID 19, between March 31st and May 11th (2020).</p></div><div><h3>Results</h3><p>The internal reliability of the French version of HSPS was very good, with a Cronbach's alpha of .90, as was that of the factors. Correlations between factors were significant (<em>p</em> <!--><<!--> <!-->.001). The intra-class correlation (ICC) for test-retest was .889 (0.874–0.903; 95% confidence interval). Factor analyses suggested a 4-factors structure, mixing the models found in the literature.</p></div><div><h3>Conclusions</h3><p>This study focused on a French adaptation of the HSPS scale. The results showed good psychometric qualities and stayed true to the original HSPS scale. The choices expressed here are compared to those made during a preference task performed by the same students, which consists of selecting the vignette they like the most among each series presented in the comprehension task.</p></div><div><h3>Results</h3><p>First, based on the analysis of the data collected in the comprehension task, children most often select inferential vignettes. Perceived service quality served as the dependent measurement.</p></div><div><h3>Results</h3><p>A main effect of mimicry was found on service quality: a cable TV representative was perceived more favorably when he mimicked the customer. Confirmatory factor analyses (CFA) were conducted to examine 2- and 3-factor solutions for the KPCS-F scale. Internal reliability and convergent validity were evaluated.</span></p></div><div><h3>Results</h3><p>The best model was a two-factor solution (PSE “infant care” and PSE “parental role”) restricted to 12 items. Sound internal consistency was indicated, with a Cronbach's alpha coefficient of 0.80 and a McDonald's omega coefficient of 0.80. Test-retest reliability was good. KPCS-F score was correlated with social support and psychological well-being scores.</p></div><div><h3>Conclusion</h3><p>The KPCS-F showed substantial validity and reliability for this sample. A qualitative content analysis","authors":"Marion Venus , Danja Greder , Martin grosse Holtforth","doi":"10.1016/j.erap.2022.100762","DOIUrl":"10.1016/j.erap.2022.100762","url":null,"abstract":"<div><h3>Introduction</h3><p>So far, no qualitative content analysis (QCA) has analysed pilots’ experiences and perceptions regarding weaknesses of fatigue risk management (FRM), flight time limitations (FTL), rosters, fatigue-severity, sleep problems, and how they relate to pilots’ mental health and well-being.</p></div><div><h3>Objective</h3><p>This research analyses pilots’ described perceptions of stress, fatigue, aviation safety and how regulations like FTL can affect their health and well-being.</p></div><div><h3>Method</h3><p>In total, 119 international pilots described their perceptions of FTL, rosters, aviation safety, and how they relate to fatigue and health. The QCA was conducted to analyse interactions of working conditions, stressors, fatigue, sleep problems and mental health of EASA-based and Australian pilots.</p></div><div><h3>Results</h3><p>Although pilots were rostered for only 60.8% to 62.5% of the legally allowed duty and flight hours/month, 78.6% reported severe or very high fatigue, 22.8% significant depression, 12.3% significant anxiety symptoms, 10.5% reported significant depression <em>and</em> anxiety symptoms. Pilots uttered severe concerns about FTL, sleep restrictions associated with early starts, minimum rest, etc. Pilots also expressed distinct fears regarding more fatigue-related crashes, and how adverse working conditions, work-related and psychosocial stress could impair their health.</p></div><div><h3>Conclusions</h3><p>This QCA provided valuable insights into interactions of working conditions, fatigue, sleep restrictions, physical and mental health. A structural analysis of SC-SRs (prototypical and co-occurrence analysis) was conducted comparing people with a high/low intention to donate UCBSC/BMSC.</p></div><div><h3>Results</h3><p>Similarly to other bioethically relevant issues, SR of SC seems to be ambivalent and dichotomously organized, with the donation procedure been a barrier.</p></div><div><h3>Conclusion</h3><p>These results are in line with studies finding two sets of dichotomies: on the one hand, a gift-of-life/replacement-of-body-parts dichotomy coexisting within people's SR of organ donation; on the other hand, a help/pain and needle dichotomy within blood donation's SR.
