A key scientific premise of this approach is that significant research has demonstrated the importance of entrepreneurial activities by university-educated entrepreneurs in contributing to economic and social development worldwide. This study aims to identify the key factors that determine the propensity of university students to engage in entrepreneurship in selected Central European countries and to present a comprehensive model. The empirical research, focused on investigating university students’ attitudes towards entrepreneurial opportunities, was conducted in the V4 countries (Slovakia, Hungary, Poland, and the Czech Republic) between March and June 2024. The research included 2310 respondents, defined as students currently studying at higher education institutions providing economic-social, university, or college education. Data collection was conducted using Google Forms. Structural equation modelling (SEM) was used to evaluate the statistical hypotheses. The strongest influence on university students’ propensity to engage in entrepreneurship was demonstrated by government support for entrepreneurship. The second most significant factor was the quality of the macroeconomic environment, followed by access to external financing. The final statistically significant factor in the model was the effect of education. Surprisingly, factors such as the quality of the entrepreneurial environment and the perceived advantages and disadvantages of entrepreneurship did not show a statistically significant effect on shaping students’ entrepreneurial inclination. The results of this study are relevant not only for the academic community but also for policymakers and education management, as they reveal considerable gaps in the field. These findings provide clear signals to national government officials that entrepreneurship education receives insufficient attention at universities in the selected Central European countries. Furthermore, a broader societal debate on the importance of entrepreneurship among university-educated individuals should be encouraged, as they are better positioned to ensure sustainable company growth through continuous innovation and the application of sophisticated business management approaches.</div></div>","PeriodicalId":46792,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Innovation & Knowledge","volume":"10 4","pages":"Article 100758"},"PeriodicalIF":15.6,"publicationDate":"2025-06-24","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"144364705","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":1,"RegionCategory":"管理学","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Despite NIC research making up for less than five percent of the research on Intellectual Capital, it has become an important pillar of IC research tradition, extending the understanding about intangible capital and the dynamics of value creation from the organizational level to the level of broader ecosystems and nations. Special foci and interest in global intellectual capital are visible in modern NIC research. Interest in social, environmental, and economic responsibility within the research has increased. National competitiveness as a focus seems to be shifting toward a focus on sustainability and responsibility in the global context. New countries with universities engaging in active research and new types of intellectual capital have emerged. The definition of NIC has remained quite unchanged. Higher education institutions (HEIs) are expected to play a critical role in preparing future leaders; however, many HEIs lack structured pathways for leadership upskilling within their curricula. Leadership education often remains largely theoretical, leaving graduates underprepared for real-world leadership challenges. This qualitative study explores how leadership upskilling is structured in U.S. HEIs by conducting interviews with 18 directors of leadership programs. The findings underscore the key strategies employed by HEIs, including adaptability training, real-world experiential learning, mentorship initiatives, and partnerships with external organizations. Despite increasing awareness of the need for leadership upskilling, empirical research on its implementation in HEIs remains limited. This study addresses that gap and offers targeted recommendations for faculty, administrators, and policymakers on embedding structured skill development into leadership education. By integrating more applied and collaborative upskilling approaches, HEIs can better equip students to navigate complex, rapidly changing professional environments and assume leadership roles in the 21st-century workforce.</div></div>","PeriodicalId":46792,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Innovation & Knowledge","volume":"10 4","pages":"Article 100754"},"PeriodicalIF":15.6,"publicationDate":"2025-06-18","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"144306925","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":1,"RegionCategory":"管理学","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This study employed panel data sourced from 276 cities throughout China, covering the time frame from 2003 to 2022. It sets up a multi-stage difference-in-differences (DID) model to explore the impacts of the innovative city pilot policy on income inequality. Results indicate that this policy significantly reduces income inequality, a conclusion that remains robust across various tests. Meanwhile, the effects are more pronounced in central and western regions, non-border cities, Yangtze River Economic Belt cities, non-old industrial bases, ethnic-minority areas, low administrative cities, low initial income inequality and non-resource-based cities. The mechanism analysis indicates that these policies mitigate income inequality largely by fostering labour resource agglomeration, structure optimisation and innovative vitality. Through an analysis of the impacts of innovative city pilot initiatives, this study enriches our comprehension and provides significant perspectives for promoting income equality in the new epoch. In addition, it provides strategic guidance for expanding and scaling these pilot policies to broader contexts.</div></div>","PeriodicalId":46792,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Innovation & Knowledge","volume":"10 4","pages":"Article 100749"},"PeriodicalIF":15.6,"publicationDate":"2025-06-18","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"144306924","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":1,"RegionCategory":"管理学","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Using data from 4291 Chinese A-share listed companies between 2004 and 2021, we applied a novel long-difference multi-level fixed-effects approach to gain new insights. The findings suggest that the impact of green innovation on return on assets (ROA) is contingent upon the type of innovation, time frame and market conditions. During the transitional phase, the overall level of green innovation and its quality positively influence ROA. However, in the long run, the quantity of green innovation may adversely affect ROA. In addition, leverage emerges as a significant determinant of ROA across firms. Quantile analysis further revealed that green innovation benefits firms with lower ROA but may negatively impact those with higher ROA. These results offer valuable guidance for policymakers and corporate strategists seeking to optimise green innovation strategies for sustainable financial performance.</div></div>","PeriodicalId":46792,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Innovation & Knowledge","volume":"10 4","pages":"Article 100740"},"PeriodicalIF":15.6,"publicationDate":"2025-06-09","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"144243628","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":1,"RegionCategory":"管理学","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Employing a convenient sampling technique and cross-sectional design, data are collected through a self-administered questionnaire from professionals in the field and analyzed using structural equation modeling. The findings reveal that knowledge acquisition exerts a positive and significant impact on ENS, paralleled by the similarly positive and substantial influence of knowledge conversion. In addition, both knowledge preservation and utilization have beneficial and considerable impacts on ENS, highlighting the multifaceted nature of knowledge management processes (KMP). Notably, KNE significantly enhances the effect of the four KMPS dimensions on ENS. Overall, this research not only substantially contributes to the literature, particularly by examining KNE’s moderating role in the interaction between KMPS and ENS, but also provides a comprehensive analysis of the symbiotic relationship between these factors. It expands the research landscape by providing insights into the complex mechanisms through which knowledge management and entrepreneurship interact within the IT sector. Furthermore, the findings offer practical relevance to managers and policymakers, underscoring the critical importance of effective knowledge management practices in fostering ENS. The supplier sells wholesale products to consumers through the retailer and may also sell directly to consumers via an online channel. Given that the supplier’s initial working capital may be insufficient to cover production, investment, or online channel expenses, they have the option to borrow funds from a bank—a practice referred to as bank credit financing (BCF). We develop models with and without direct selling and BCF to analyze the supplier’s optimal decisions regarding cost-reducing investments and the BCF policy. Our findings indicate that, in the absence of direct selling, the supplier’s optimal BCF decision depends on its initial working capital and the investment cost factor. Notably, BCF can enable the supplier to shift from forgoing cost-reducing investments to actively engaging in them when the initial working capital falls within a certain range. Although AR improves travel experiences and destination branding, there is limited research on parents’ perceptions of AR when traveling with children. This study combines the unified theory of acceptance and use of technology (UTAUT) with the concept of sustainability education to investigate how parents’ perceptions of AR technology shape visit behavior and destination branding, improve family vacations, and strengthen ecotourism sustainability. A mixed methods approach was applied, combining partial least structural equation modeling (PLS-SEM) with fuzzy-set qualitative comparative analysis (fsQCA). An online survey questionnaire (distributed via the Prolific platform) was completed by 181 parents who visited Romanian ecotourism destinations with their children and had previous AR experience. The PLS-SEM results indicate that facilitating conditions, performance expectancy, social influence, and sustainability education have significant effects on parents’ intentions to use AR technology. Furthermore, these intentions significantly influence destination visit behavior and AR branding. The fsQCA results show that sustainability education is the sole necessary condition for AR technology to influence families’ ecotourism experiences, possibly enhancing destination branding.
