GenAI's ability to produce original content using data from human-created sources raises critical ethical and legal concerns. Current copyright and IPR frameworks, designed around human authorship, are insufficient to address these challenges. This study, using a multi-perspective approach, explores GenAI's disruptive potential in replicating or transforming copyrighted materials, challenging established IPR norms. Findings highlight gaps in legislation and the opacity of GenAI platforms. To address these issues, this study presents a Dynamic Ethical Framework linked to a future global <em>fair use</em> policy, aiming to guide responsible GenAI development and use. By incorporating insights from domain experts, this study contextualizes emerging challenges and potential solutions within broader societal and technological trends. Here, we explore the technological collaboration between Silicon Fen (SF) firms and University of Cambridge (UoC) as a cluster of high-tech businesses and a main research university located in close proximity, respectively, focusing on the involvement of female inventors, based on the evaluation of join patent ownership, and examination of technological collaboration strength (<em>TCS</em>), with respect to the characteristics of firms such as age, size and sector. A quantitative bibliometric approach is utilised to analyse more than 93,000 patents generated by UoC and SF firms. According to the results obtained, smaller and older businesses exhibit greater collaboration bonds with the university, accommodating a greater proportion of collaborative female inventors. Pharma/Biotech sector of Silicon Fen has a greatest value of <em>TCS</em> (1.6 × 10<sup>–2</sup>), and accommodates the greatest ratio of female inventors (20.8 %). Our findings suggest the need to encourage younger and larger businesses, and those beyond the Pharma/Biotech sector to involve more female inventors in their technological collaboration with university, given that university policies can have a positive impact in addressing the gender gap in technology and innovation. However, existing research on the influence of customer participation (CP) and supplier participation (SP) remains inconsistent. This study addresses this gap by investigating how CP and SP affect different types of innovation performance of SMEs in China. Furthermore, by addressing the gap regarding the unclear mechanisms of CP and SP in SMEs’ innovation performance, this study explores the mediating role of a firm's absorptive capacity on innovation performance and the conditions under which absorptive capacity will be more effective. Based on a sample of 1861 SMEs in China, the findings highlight that CP positively impacts product innovation performance, with absorptive capacity acting as a partial mediator. Additionally, both CP and SP influence process innovation performance directly or through absorptive capacity. Meanwhile, the business environment moderates the effect of absorptive capacity on product innovation performance. These findings contribute to the theory of open innovation and offer valuable insights for SME managers, entrepreneurs, and scholars in enhancing innovation outcomes.</div></div>","PeriodicalId":46792,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Innovation & Knowledge","volume":"9 4","pages":"Article 100607"},"PeriodicalIF":15.6,"publicationDate":"2024-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"142651414","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":1,"RegionCategory":"管理学","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"OA","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This study attempts to address this gap by examining how emotions influence efficient managerial decision-making, generating a modern perspective for organizational theory beyond the existing theoretical paradigm. The concept of managerial decision-making is approached through three dependent variables: strategic planning, innovative crisis management, and pragmatism. This study analyzed the responses of 151 managers of small- and medium-sized firms in Greece collected during field research in 2023. Emotions are perceived as unique information that interacts with other factors, such as the conscious evaluation of inputs. The analysis of emotions was based on a modified understanding of the anthropological term of emotional culture. The findings demonstrate that emotional culture contributes to managerial decision-making. Influential variables included basic emotions, emotions that communicate motives, cultural values, fast and slow thinking, and demographics. These variables highlight the interaction of pure emotional and rational factors in managerial decision-making. This study provides insights into how “human-related” traits contribute to or affect decision-making processes. This interdisciplinary perspective has both micro- and macro-level implications. At the micro level, the study explores strategic management, managerial skills for effective decision-making—especially considering the rise of artificial intelligence—and modern perspectives of organizational theory based on behavioral economics. At the macro level, it offers insights into cumulative behavioral expressions and how emotion analysis could be used to understand cultures and stereotypes within societies. The study has implications for the relationship between policymaking and production structure.</div></div>","PeriodicalId":46792,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Innovation & Knowledge","volume":"9 4","pages":"Article 100588"},"PeriodicalIF":15.6,"publicationDate":"2024-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"142534249","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":1,"RegionCategory":"管理学","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"OA","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
