Then the complex relationships are explored by structural equation modelling. The results suggest heritage attraction and cultural experience positively affect tourists’ attitude towards heritage protection, while cultural experience, service facilities and market conditions positively affect tourists’ preference of tourism development. More importantly, tourists’ attitude towards heritage protection positively affects preference of tourism development, and they affect satisfaction positively. This study offers suggestions for rationally optimizing management and promoting cultural heritage tourism development.","PeriodicalId":46712,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Tourism and Cultural Change","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":2.2,"publicationDate":"2023-06-18","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"41945507","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":4,"RegionCategory":"管理学","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Results from the use of average treatment test of a combined propensity score matching and logit model indicate a significant difference between youths in MOCs’ CSR global memorandum of understanding (GMoU) households and non-GMoU households in the four parameters measured: availability of finance (3.76), access to adequate training (5.91), direct patronage (18.97), and economic capability of the youths (8.2). It shows that opportunities to supply products and services to the tourism sector can help ensure a sustainable market and increase incomes and other revenues in local communities driven from ecotourism-related activities, while minimizing economic leakages. This suggests that pro-youth GMoU ecotourism projects of MOCs have the potential to play in the formation of linkages to help promote local economic development through job creation and business opportunities. It implies that a younger generation can help to promote economic diversification and contribute to job creation and enterprise development, while helping to address underdevelopment in remoe areas and intractable environmental challenges of sub-Saharan Africa.","PeriodicalId":46712,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Tourism and Cultural Change","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":2.2,"publicationDate":"2023-06-12","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"48308496","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":4,"RegionCategory":"管理学","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In doing so we interrogate how tourism and migration meet, interrelate, overlap and merge in multifaceted and fluid ways. We draw upon literature on transnational migration and on Sarah Ahmed’s work on the relationship between ‘strange encounters’ and home. These theoretical perspectives enable us to move away from an ‘ontology of the stranger’ and polarised views on migration and tourism. We investigate these issues through semi-structured interviews with people with different migration backgrounds and migration-related experiences who revolve around the Sardinia tourism industry. Our discussion unveils the entrenched inequalities and unexpected resources that people with different experiences of migration live and mobilise to reconfigure and expand notions of home through their involvement in the tourism industry. Our discussion underlines how processes of regrounding and the shaping of transnational ties between countries of origin and migration can exceed the remit and frameworks of initiatives to ‘integrate’ migrants through tourism. Drawing on the participants’ accounts and experiences of uprooting and regrounding, we contend that different identities and multiple notions of home can emerge from the uneven relationship between tourism and migration.","PeriodicalId":46712,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Tourism and Cultural Change","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":2.2,"publicationDate":"2023-06-12","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"48248499","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":4,"RegionCategory":"管理学","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

We collected data from 402 Gen Z participants in the museum at Göbeklitepe, one of the first human settlements in Turkey. Study results suggest that visual appeal and enjoyment affect AR technology and that enjoyment and escapism affect revisit intention. In addition, AR had a mediating effect between the enjoyment experience and RVI. There was no moderating effect of emotions between AR and revisit intention. Through the lens of tourism, it scrutinises the language on public transport signs, billboards, street names, shop names and commercial posters, as well as public signs of government agencies, on Wailingding Island off China’s southern coast. Its purpose is to explore the question of to what extent and with what characteristics place meaning ‘translates’ into the linguistic landscape. A predominantly qualitative approach is employed. The research finds that the text content of the linguistic landscape is fundamental to making a meaningful place. Its cultural connotation is related to the social environment, manifesting deeper the meaning of a place beyond the displayed content. Nonetheless, the symbolical meaning of the linguistic landscape is fluid, with the subjective consciousness of the creative subject and the cognition, perception and understanding of the linguistic landscape by different agents of interest.","PeriodicalId":46712,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Tourism and Cultural Change","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":2.2,"publicationDate":"2023-05-02","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"43205175","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":4,"RegionCategory":"管理学","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The rising marketing trend of crime fiction literature significantly impacts literary tourism. Famous writers and their works are exploited by destination management organizations and used as a marketing tool; however, this is not happening in Greece. This research explores the sub-niche market of crime fiction literary tourism in Greece and focuses on its potential and limitations. To the best of our knowledge, this research is the first to explore the perspectives of crime fiction authors, publishers, and agents on the subject of crime fiction literary tourism, conducting qualitative research. The results indicate the lack of a national policy in the general market of literary tourism and the lack of understanding concerning the dynamics of crime fiction novels constituting tourism in Greece.","PeriodicalId":46712,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Tourism and Cultural Change","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":2.2,"publicationDate":"2023-04-21","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"44625919","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":4,"RegionCategory":"管理学","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

These cultural theme parks or gaikoku mura (foreign villages) embrace foreign cultures and landscapes rather than rollercoasters. They offer Japanese tourists the foreign travel experience adapted and modified for the Japanese market. Set within place-based branding, imaginaries, and authenticity, this paper compares the Eurocentric theme parks of Huis Ten Bosch in Nagasaki and Yufuin Floral Village in Oita. Opening in 1992, Huis Ten Bosch is a large-scale cultural theme park based on Nagasaki’s historical connection to the Netherlands. Recreating Dutch cities and landscapes, it offers hotels, restaurants, shops, and attractions. Within the hot springs area of Yufuin, the Floral Village opened in 2012, modelled after The Cotswolds, UK. Houses with storybook architecture contain souvenir shops and tea rooms featuring characters from British literature and Studio Ghibli anime. Based on site visits, photographic documentation, and qualitative sentiment analysis of comments written by visitors on TripAdvisor, the paper investigates the perceptions of Japanese tourists. They are positive about Huis Ten Bosch with developers having successfully created and branded a Dutch environment, while mixed messages at Yufuin demonstrate the importance of product-market match for these ‘exotic’ attractions.","PeriodicalId":46712,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Tourism and Cultural Change","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":2.2,"publicationDate":"2023-02-17","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"45427368","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":4,"RegionCategory":"管理学","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
