Therefore, the present study was performed aiming to examine the prevalence of FEDs and its involved key factors among schizophrenic patients and non-clinical controlsIn this cross-sectional correlational study, a total of 268 Iranian participants (including 134 schizophrenic patients and 134 non-clinical controls) were selected through the convenient sampling method from people living in Zahedan, Iran. They were assessed using demographic information form, Eating Attitudes Test-26 Item (EAT-26), and Structured Clinical Interviews for DSM-5: Research Version.The findings of this study showed that almost one third of schizophrenic patients had FEDs that this prevalence was about 2.5 times that in non-clinical controls (32.1% vs. 12.7%, p<0.001). in schizophrenic patients, the results of regression analysis also revealed that higher scores of EAT-26 were associated with higher levels of anxiety, depression, and body mass index (BMI), Type 2 diabetes, tobacco smoking, earlier stages of disease, more severe psychotic symptoms, and taking atypical antipsychotics (R2=0.93, p˂0.001). Contrarily, no relationship was observed between the EAT-26 scores and both gender and different phases of schizophrenia.Clinicians need to assess the risk of FEDs during the entire course of schizophrenia, particularly in its earlier stages.It is necessary to address the role of key factors, such as anxiety, depression, BMI, Type 2 diabetes, tobacco smoking, severity of psychosis, category of antipsychotic medications in the modeling of eating pathology among schizophrenic patients.","PeriodicalId":44856,"journal":{"name":"Archives of Psychiatry and Psychotherapy","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.6,"publicationDate":"2021-12-04","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"43705127","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The paper integrates the knowledge of environmental and genetic factors as well as neurobiological processes mediating the development of dissociative symptoms in a holistic way. Material and method: The literature review was performed with the use of the following databases: EBSCO, PsycINFO, PubMed, Google Scholar. The databases were searched using the following keywords: “attachment style”, “dissociation”, “trauma”. These terms were combined with the words ‘secure’, ‘disorganised’, ‘epigenetic’, ‘genetic’ and the term ‘monoaminergic system’. Results: Literature analysis suggests that the pathomechanism linking traumatic experiences in the attachment relationship with dissociative symptoms is mediated by neurobiological factors. These include: dysregulation within monoaminergic systems and atrophy of neuronal structures that play a role in affective regulation. Discussion and conclusions: Research suggests that traumatic experiences in the attachment relationship are a risk factor for the development of dissociative symptoms in the future. There is still a lack of research verifying the relationship between attachment experiences and epigenetic changes in genes regulating the activity of monoaminergic systems. These processes may play an important role in the aetiology of many nosological units, the development of which is mediated by dissociative symptoms. The consequences of climate and environmental changes for physical health are increasingly well-documented. In contrast, psychosocial changes due to climate change and, in particular, the impact on mental health, remain unrecognized. Material and method: Psychologists and psychotherapists were asked to share their clinical experience in diagnosing and treatment of patients reporting climate change-related mental symptoms. Climate change-related mental issues were operationalized as clinically significant symptoms meeting the criteria for anxiety and depressive disorders or adjustment disorders, and are known in literature as a solastalgia and ecological anxiety. The collection of data with the use of an on-line survey started lasted 4 months. Results: Issues relating to ecology and climate change were present both in the contents of patient concerns (48.6% of respondents) and in patients’ hypotheses regarding their symptoms (16.7% of respondents) in the past 6 months of the respondents’ clinical work. Mental health professionals considered psychoeducation (62.5%), psychological support (73.6%), short-term psychotherapy (45.8%) and self-help groups (40.3%) to be appropriate mental health support interventions. Discussion: The presented study provides evidence that mental health issues related to climate change are recognized by Polish psychologists and psychotherapists. The professionals can need comprehensive knowledge of climate-related mental health, including appropriate interventions. Conclusions: These findings may be a ground for designing further research on this topic. climate change; mental health; ecological anxiety; solastalgia","PeriodicalId":44856,"journal":{"name":"Archives of Psychiatry and Psychotherapy","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.6,"publicationDate":"2021-11-13","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"46836856","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

We also determined the types of psychological gender in our study groups and evaluated the differences between them. The study involved 78 persons (who dance Argentine tango and the control group). The set of administered tools included: Communication in Marriage and Partner Relationship Questionnaire, Psychological Gender Inventory and a self-designed demographic survey. Our data indicated that dancing tango was related to the overall quality of partner communication. Tangueros exhibited significantly better communicative behaviours and assessed their partners’ communicative behaviours better as well. We did not observe any differences in the distribution of psychological gender in the two groups. Our analyses show that the hypotheses concerning the relationship of practising tango and the quality of communication in a close relationship are predominantly accurate. The dancers evaluate their partner’s contribution to communication significantly better – especially their support and commitment, and consider them less prone to diminish their worth. Argentine tango practitioners’ overall assessment of the quality of communication is also significantly higher – both when it comes to their own behavior, and the behavior of their partners. Dancing tango helps to improve communication and can be an effective form of assistance for persons with difficulties in communication in partner relationships. communication; close relationships; psychological gender; Argentine tango","PeriodicalId":44856,"journal":{"name":"Archives of Psychiatry and Psychotherapy","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.6,"publicationDate":"2021-11-13","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"44829378","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Also, the effects of lifestyle, physical activity and clinical characteristics of these patients on metabolic syndrome were explored. Method: In this cross-sectional study, 150 patients, 16-65 aged years were included. All subjects were re cruited from the Psychiatric clinic of a tertiary hospital, Rasht, Iran. The severity of symptoms was assessed by the Positive and Negative Syndrome Scale. Physical activity and lifestyle were evaluated by the Baecke and Lifestyle questionnaires. Results: Fifty AN-SZ patients and 100 C-SZ patients participated. The rate of abdominal obesity was 29.2% for females and 10.3% for males. The C-SZ patients had significantly fewer healthy habitual physical activity and lifestyle, compared with AN-SZ patients. The prevalence of MetS in the AN-SZ and C-SZ groups was 8% and 23%, respectively (odds ratio [OR] 3.13). Binary logistic regression revealed age and unhealthy lifestyle to be significant predictors of MetS (adjusted OR 1.09 and 0.65, respectively). Discussion: We found with increasing each 10 years, the odds of MetS to increase 2.37 times. There was a significant negative association between a healthy lifestyle of SZ patients and MetS. For lifestyle habits, a de crease in the LSQ score by each one-point increases the odds of MetS by 45%. Conclusions: We found a higher prevalence of obesity and MetS in C-SZ patients. The results of the present study showed a significant relationship between age, LSQ score and MetS development. Future studies are recommended to explore the importance of weight management and nutrition control for reducing the rate of MetS.","PeriodicalId":44856,"journal":{"name":"Archives of Psychiatry and Psychotherapy","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.6,"publicationDate":"2021-09-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"49340499","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
