Behavior for dental and oral health is related to knowledge, past experience, economic status, and visit frequency of each treatment. \u0000Aim: The purpose of this study was to know the correlation between the determinant factors of tooth extraction and tooth extraction demand. \u0000Method: This study is a cross-sectional analytic study with time-sequential sampling. A sample of 53 people aged 26-65 years at the Dental Polyclinic Sanglah Hospital was given a questionnaire calculated on the Guttman scale. \u0000Result: The results of the Chi-square test analysis showed a significant relationship between knowledge (0.001), economic status (0.000), visit frequency (0.001), and financial sources (0.001) with permanent tooth extraction demand. Different results were found in the past experience variable (0.623) where there was no relation between the variable and permanent tooth extraction demand. \u0000Conclusion: The conclusions of this study are knowledge, economic status, and visit frequency affect the tooth extraction demand while the past experience factor do not affect on the tooth extraction demand. \u0000 \u0000Latar Belakang: Perawatan untuk berbagai permasalahan yang ada di rongga mulut sangatlah bervariasi sesuai dengan kebutuhan dan juga kondisi dari masing-masing pasien. Perilaku akan kesehatan gigi dan mulut sangat berhubungan dengan tingkat pengetahuan, pengalaman sebelumnya, status ekonomi masyarakat, dan frekuensi kunjungan dari masing-masing perawatan. \u0000Tujuan: Penelitian ini memiliki tujuan untuk mengetahui hubungan antara faktor determinan pencabutan gigi dengan permintaan tindakan pencabutan gigi permanen di RSUP Sanglah. \u0000Metode: Penelitian ini adalah penelitian analitik cross-sectional dengan teknik pengambilan sampel yaitu time-sequential sampling. Sampel sebanyak 53 orang dengan rentang usia 26-65 tahun di Poliklinik Gigi RSUP Sanglah diberikan kuisioner yang dihitung dengan skala Guttman. \u0000Hasil: Terdapat 53 sampel yang terdiri dari 28 orang (52,8%) berjenis kelamin laki-laki, 25 orang (47,2%) berjenis kelamin perempuan. Hasil uji Chi-square pada penelitian ini menunjukkan adanya hubungan yang signifikan antara tingkat pengetahuan (p=0,001), tingkat ekonomi (p=0,000), frekuensi kunjungan (p=0,001), dan sumber pembiayaan (p=0,001) terhadap permintaan pencabutan gigi permanen (p-value <0,05). The specific objectives of the study are to 1) find out the procedure of dental health services at Dental Poly of Community Health Center Abiansemal IV Badung; 2) obtain an overview of the dimensions of the dental health services quality at Dental Poly of Community Health Center Abiansemal IV Badung; 3) obtain an overview of the characteristics of the patients at Dental Poly of Community Health Center Abiansemal IV Badung; and 4) obtain an overview of patient satisfaction with the dental health services quality at Dental Poly of Community Health Center Abiansemal IV Badung. \u0000Method: The research design used is descriptive research with time-sequential sampling. The sample size is determined with the Slovin formula. \u0000Results: The results of the study at Dental Poly of Community Health Center Abiansemal IV Badung were the dental health procedures starting from the patient registration to the patient's return, all dimensions of health services quality have been implemented. The majority of patients were 68.4% female, the age group 20-29 years were 34.2%, the senior high school education level was 53.9%, the funding source of BPJS was 90.8% and the frequency of the first visit was 50%. The quality of dental health services is expressed well by 3% of patients, and is expressed very well by 97% of patients \u0000Conclusion: According to this study, patients were satisfied with the quality of dental health services at Community Health Center Abiansemal IV Badung. \u0000 \u0000Pendahuluan: Puskesmas perlu meningkatkan mutu pelayanan kesehatan gigi untuk meningkatkan kepuasan pasien. \u0000Tujuan: Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk memperoleh gambaran tentang mutu pelayanan kesehatan gigi dan kepuasan pasien di Poli Gigi Puskesmas Abiansemal IV Badung. Manalagi apples are fruits that are very easy to find, the fruit peel contains antibacterial compounds derived from polyphenols including catechins, quercetin, phloridzin and chlorogenic acid. The use of apple manalagi peel extract can be used as an antibacterial natural product especially in the oral cavity. The purpose of this study was to assess the inhibition of Manalagi apple peel extract (Malus sylvestris (L.) Mill) against the growth of Streptococcus sanguinis. \u0000Method: This type of research is experimental with Post Test Only Control Group Design. There are 5 treatment groups, extract concentration of 25%, 50%, 100%, positive control with chlorhexidine 0.2%, and negative control with aquades. The antibacterial test method uses the disc diffusion method by saturating each extract into disc paper which then diffuses into the media to contain Streptococcus sanguinis bacteria. \u0000Result: Phytochemical test results of manalagi apple peel extract showed saponin, fenol, terpenoid, flavonoid and alkaloid. The antibacterial activity test result showed of zone diameter at a concentration of 25% is 0 mm, a concentration of 50% 7.3 mm, a concentration of 100% 7.5 mm, positive control 14.3 mm and a negative control 0 mm. Data analysis used the Kruskal Wallis tests and showed p< 0,05. \u0000Conclusion: The conclusion of this study is manalagi apple peel extract at a concentration of 50% and 100% has an antibacterial effect on the growth of Streptococcus sanguinis. \u0000 \u0000Latar Belakang: Streptococcus sanguinis merupakan salah satu bakteri gram positif penyebab penyakit gigi dan mulut yang berperan dalam proses pembentukan plak gigi. Buah apel manalagi adalah buah yang sangat mudah ditemukan, kulit buahnya mengandung senyawa antibakteri turunan polifenol diantaranya katekin, kuersetin, phloridzin, serta asam klorogenik. Penggunaan ekstrak kulit apel manalagi dapat digunakan sebagai produk alami antibakteri terutama dalam rongga mulut. Penelitian ini bertujuan guna menilai daya hambat ekstrak kulit apelmanalagi (Malus sylvestris (L.) There are several alternatives for whitening teeth, for example, the use of fruits. Previous research stated that watermelon (Citrullus lanatus) is able to whiten teeth because it contains malic acid. The purpose of this study was to compare the hardness of tooth enamel in the bleaching process using 100% watermelon fruit extract and 10% caramide peroxide. \u0000Method: An experimental research has been done using true experimental with pretest-posttest control group design with a sample of 27 post-extraction permanent premolar teeth divided into 3 treatment groups, namely 100% watermelon extract group, 10% carbamide peroxide group, and control group. The time for bleaching is 1 hour per day for 2 weeks. During the treatment all samples were stored in an incubator at 37oC. The enamel surface hardness was measured before and after treatment using the Vickers hardness tester. Data were analyzed by the Wilcoxon signed-rank test and Kruskall Wallis test. \u0000Result: The results showed a significant decrease in enamel surface hardness in the 100% watermelon extract group and there were insignificant changes in the 10% carbamide peroxide group and control group. Statistically the results of the Kruskall Wallis test obtained a value of p > 0.05 indicating that there were no significant differences between the three groups. \u0000Conclusion: There was no significant difference in changes in surface hardness of tooth enamel in the treatment group of 100% watermelon extract and 10% carbamide peroxide. \u0000 \u0000Latar Belakang: Bleaching merupakan teknik pemutihan warna gigi yang menggunakan bahan kimia seperti karbamid peroksida yang dapat menimbulkan efek samping pada jaringan keras gigi. Terdapat beberapa alternatif untuk memutihkan gigi misalnya adalah pemanfaatan buah-buahan. Penelitian sebelumnya dinyatakan bahwa buah semangka (Citrullus lanatus) mampu memutihkan gigi karena mengandung asam malat. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk membandingkan kekerasan permukaan enamel gigi pada proses bleaching dengan menggunakan ekstrak buah semangka 100% dan karbamid peroksida 10%. \u0000Metode: Penelitian eksperimental dilakukan dengan pretest-posttest control group design dengan jumlah sampel 27 gigi premolar permanen post-ekstraksi dibagi menjadi 3 kelompok perlakuan yaitu kelompok ekstrak semangka 100%, karbamid peroksida 10%, dan kontrol. Waktu perlakuan bleaching adalah 1 jam per hari selama 2 minggu. Selama perlakuan seluruh sampel disimpan dalam inkubator dengan suhu 37oC. Composite resin used in this study are fiber and non-fiber composite resins. Fiber composite resin provides lower polymerization shrinkage and flow, it is easy to adapt to the cavity, while non-fiber composite resin will reduce volumetric shrinkage so polymerization shrinkage decreases, too. \u0000Aims: This study aims to determine the differences of microleakage between fiber and non-fiber composite resins in class I cavities. \u0000Method: This research is a laboratory experimental study with a post test only control group design. Thirty two premolar maxilla were prepared in class I cavities and randomly divided into two groups, group I uses fiber composite resin restorations and group II uses non-fiber composite resin restorations. Samples were immersed in saline solution for 24 hours, then it was thermocycled, 100 cycled at temperature between 5oC and 55oC. Samples were immersed in methylene blue for 24 hours then microleakage was observed and measured by method of dry penetration using stereomicroscope. Statistical analysis used univariate analysis with frequency distribution tables and non parametric Mann Whitney Test. \u0000Result: The results showed that microleakage in group I was smaller than in group II. The results of the analysis showed that there were significant differences between two groups (p<0,05) \u0000Conclusion: The conclusion of this study was fiber composite resin has a smaller microleakage than non-fiber composite resin \u0000 \u0000Latar Belakang: Kebocoran mikro didefinisikan sebagai terbentuknya celah akibat adaptasi yang kurang baik antara bahan restoratif dan permukaan dinding kavitas. Resin komposit yang digunakan pada penelitian ini resin komposit fiber dan non fiber. Resin komposit fiber memberikan polymerization shrinkage yang lebih rendah dan lebih flow sehingga mudah beradaptasi pada kavitas, sedangkan resin komposit non fiber akan mengurangi volumetrik shrinkage sehingga penyusutan saat polimerisasi berkurang. \u0000Tujuan: Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui perbedaan kebocoran mikro antara resin komposit fiber dan non fiber pada kavitas kelas I. \u0000Metode: Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian eksperimental laboratoris dengan rancangan post-test only control group design. Penelitian dilakukan pada 32 gigi premolar maksila yang dipreparasi kavitas kelas I dan dibagi menjadi dua kelompok, kelompok I menggunakan restorasi resin komposit fiber dan kelompok II menggunakan restorasi resin komposit non fiber. Bacterial growth can be inhibited by utilizing herbs such as white frangipani leaves (Plumeria acuminata) which are contained antibacterial compounds, namely saponins, phenols, tannins, steroids, flavonoids, and alkaloids. The aim of this study was to know the inhibitory power of ethanol extract of white frangipani leaf on the growth of Streptococcus sanguinis (in-vitro). \u0000Method: A true experimental research has been done using post-test only control group design. White frangipani leaf extract was made by maceration method using 70% ethanol solvent. The number of samples used in this study was 30, which were divided into 3 treatment groups and 2 control groups. Treatment groups were given white frangipani leaf extract with 25%, 50%, and 75% concentrations. Control groups were given 0.2% chlorhexidine as positive control and aquadest as negative control. The inhibitory test method used in this study was disc diffusion method. \u0000Result: Phytochemical test results of white frangipani leaf extract showed the presence of saponins, phenols, tannins, steroids, flavonoids, and alkaloids. The inhibitory test results showed the average diameter of the inhibition zone of 25%, 50%, and 75% concentrations were 7.17 mm, 9.17 mm, and 12 mm respectively. The result of Kruskal-Wallis comparative test was p<0.05, it was mean the average diameter of the inhibition zone between the three treatment groups and the two control groups were significantly different. \u0000Conclusion: Ethanol extract of white frangipani leaf (Plumeria acuminata) with concentrations of 25%, 50%, and 75% are able to inhibit the growth of Streptococcus sanguinis (in-vitro). \u0000 \u0000Latar Belakang: Streptococcus sanguinis berperan menginisiasi pembentukan plak gigi dan berkontribusi terhadap perkembangan karies. Pertumbuhan bakteri dapat dihambat dengan memanfaatkan bahan alam seperti daun kamboja putih (Plumeria acuminata). Daun kamboja putih diketahui mengandung senyawa antibakteri seperti saponin, fenol, tanin, steroid, flavonoid dan alkaloid. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui daya hambat ekstrak etanol daun kamboja putih terhadap pertumbuhan Streptococcus sanguinis secara in-vitro. \u0000Metode: Penelitian true experimental dilakukan dengan post-test only control group design pada bakteri Streptococcus sanguinis. Ekstrak daun kamboja putih dibuat dengan metode maserasi menggunakan pelarut etanol 70%. Jumlah sampel dalam penelitian ini adalah 30 yang dibagi menjadi 3 kelompok perlakuan dan 2 kelompok kontrol. Kelompok perlakuan diberikan ekstrak etanol daun kamboja putih dengan konsentrasi 25%, 50%, dan 75%. As a Tourism Ambassador it requires the ability or expertise in promoting tourism potential and has an attractive appearance that is able to influence the people. The task of a Tourism Ambassador will be directly into the community to promote regional tourism. So that people are interested to listening, the Tourism Ambassador must pay attention to his appearance. Face is a part that becomes the center attention, while the mouth is the most prominent part because the condition of the tooth affects the appearance of a person. Oral hygiene can cause bad breath that can affect the confident in the task of being a tourism ambassador of Klungkung Regency. Caries can cause toothache that can also interfere with the task. \u0000Objective: To know the condition of oral hygiene and dental caries in the tourism ambassadors of Klungkung Regency. \u0000Research method: This research is a descriptive research conducted on the tourism Ambassador of Klungkung Regency with a total of 50 respondents. \u0000Results: Through OHI-S examination the results were good (92%), moderate (8%). Through DMF-T examination obtained very low results (82%), low (6%), and moderate (12%). Conclusion : Oral Hygiene conditions in Ambassadors Tourism of Klungkung Regency is on good criteria and condition of caries The teeth are on very low criteria. \u0000 \u0000Pendahuluan : Pariwisata menghasilkan miliaran dolar dalam pendapatan dan jutaan pekerjaan di seluruh dunia. Upaya pencegahan yang dapat dilakukan yaitu dengan mengunyah makanan yang berserat seperti buah bengkuang dan buah apel manalagi. Bengkuang mengandung isoflavon, dan flavonoid sedangkan apel manalagi mengandung cathechin, tannin, dan quercetin yang dapat menghambat aktivitas enzim glucosyltransferase (GTFs) sehingga menghambat pembentukan plak gigi. \u0000Tujuan: Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui perbandingan efektivitas mengunyah buah bengkuang dan buah apel manalagi terhadap penurunan indeks plak. \u0000Metode: Penelitian ini adalah penelitian eksperimental dengan rancangan pre-test and post-test comparative two group design. Sampel sebanyak 58 siswa usia 10-12 tahun di SD Negeri 2 Dauh Puri, secara acak dibagi menjadi dua kelompok yaitu kelompok mengunyah buah bengkuang dan kelompok mengunyah buah apel manalagi. Indeks plak diukur dengan indeks plak Turesky-Gillmore-Glickman modification of Quigley-Hein. \u0000Hasil: Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa mengunyah buah bengkuang dan apel manalagi efektif dalam menurunkan indeks plak. Analisis independent sample t-test menunjukkan tidak terdapat perbandingan efektivitas yang signifikan antara kelompok mengunyah buah bengkuang dan kelompok mengunyah buah apel manalagi dalam menurunkan indeks plak (p>0,05). \u0000Simpulan: Kesimpulan penelitian ini adalah tidak terdapat perbandingan efektivitas yang bermakna antara kelompok mengunyah buah bengkuang dan mengunyah buah apel manalagi. \u0000 \u0000Background: Dental caries is one of the dental health problems caused by the low hygiene of the oral cavity which facilitates the occurrence of dental plaque accumulation. The prevention that can be done is by chewing fibrous foods such as yam fruit and manalagi apples. Yam fruit contains isoflavon and flavonoids, while manalagi apples contain cathechin, tannin, and quercetin which can inhibit the activity of glucosyltransferase (GTFs) which inhibit dental plaque formation. \u0000Aim: The purpose of this study was to compare the effectiveness of chewing yam fruit and manalagi apples against decreasing plaque index. \u0000Method: This study was an experimental research with pre-test and post-test comparative two group design. The sample were 58 students aged 10-12 years at SD Negeri 2 Dauh Puri and randomly divided into two groups, namely the group chewing yam fruit and the group chewing manalagi apples. The plaque index was measured by plaque index from Turesky-Gillmore-Glickman modification of Quigley-Hein. \u0000Result: The result showed that chewing yam fruit and manalagi apples was effective in reducing the plaque index. Submission of dental and oral health promotion for children should be made as attractive as possible, in this study we used two different methods: the audiovisual method and the demonstration method. The audiovisual method contains animated cartoon characters and stimulates interesting motion effects for children, while the demonstration method shows a process so that respondents can see, observe, hear, and feel the process shown. This study aimed to determine the differences in effectiveness between the audiovisual method and the demonstration method for brushing teeth of children aged 6-8 years in 1st Rendang elementary school. \u0000Method: The design of this research is quasi-experimental study with a two groups pre-post test design approach consisted samples of 44 children aged 6-8 years which were divided into two groups, audiovisual groups and demonstrations groups. Data were analyzed by the Independent T Test. \u0000Result: The results showed that the average score of brushing teeth of respondents in the audiovisual group increased by 26.6 from pre test to post test 1, and 27.9 from pre test to post test 2. In the demonstration group showed that the average score of brushing teeth of respondents increased by 32.5 from pre test to post test 1, and 9.9 from pre test to post test 2. \u0000Conclusion: The conclusion of this study is both methods is effective in increasing the average score of the action of brushing the teeth of respondents. \u0000 \u0000Latar Belakang: Promosi kesehatan gigi dan mulut merupakan upaya untuk memengaruhi seseorang agar berperilaku baik dalam menjaga kesehatan gigi dan mulut. Penyampaian promosi kesehatan gigi dan mulut untuk anak-anak harus dibuat semenarik mungkin, pada penelitian ini menggunakan dua metode yang berbeda yaitu metode audiovisual dan metode demonstrasi. Metode audiovisual menampilkan karakter animasi kartun serta menstimulasi efek gerak yang menarik untuk anak-anak, sedangkan metode demonstrasi memperlihatkan suatu proses sehingga responden dapat melihat, mengamati, mendengar, dan merasakan proses yang ditunjukkan. A simple deep bite is limited to the dentition and its alveolar process. Untreated deep bite tends to increase anterior crowding, maxillary incisors protrusion, and also generate periodontal and temporomandibular problems. This serial case report aims to describe the management of deep bite using removable appliances in Udayana University Hospital. \u0000Case report: Two deep bite cases with overbite more than one-third of clinical crown height mandibular incisors. Both cases were treated using a sved bite plate and maxillary inclined bite plate. Deep bite in both cases was corrected after 3-4 months of treatment using the bite plate. \u0000Conclusion: Anterior bite plate can be effective in the management of dental deep bites. \u0000 \u0000Latar belakang: Deep bite merupakan suatu kondisi vertical overlapping yang berlebihan gigi insisivus maksila terhadap gigi insisivus mandibula pada oklusi sentrik, yakni lebih besar dari 30% atau 1/3 panjang mahkota klinis insisivus mandibular. Faktor dental penyebab deep bite hanya melibatkan gigi-gigi dan tulang alveolarnya, Deep bite yang tidak dirawat cenderung akan memperparah kondisi crowding anterior, protrusi, masalah periodontal dan temporomandibula. Laporan kasus ini bertujuan untuk memaparkan penatalaksanaan kasus deep bite menggunakan peranti lepasan di RS Universitas Udayana. \u0000Laporan Kasus: Dua orang pasien dengan kasus deep bite memiliki tampilan klinis gigi insisivus maksila menutupi lebih dari 1/3 tinggi mahkota klinis gigi insisivus mandibula.
