On the other hand, alkaline reflux occurs in the case when alkaline intestinal contents enter the esophagus. The aim of the study was to examine the pharmaceutical properties of gels for the treatment of gastro-esophageal reflux, covering the mucosa, allowing prolonged contact with the esophageal mucosa. Formulations containing the PVP K-30 showed the lowest pH, which is an important feature and can be used in the treatment of advanced alkaline reflux. Gels containing PVP K-90 and chitosan can be used in the treatment of acid reflux. The addition of chitosan significantly increased the dynamic viscosity of the tested gels. The study of the work of adhesion showed the effect of PVP K-30 and PVP K-90 and their concentration on the value of the work of adhesion. The presented studies have shown that it is possible to obtain gels with high adhesion to the esophageal mucous membrane.

The intravaginal application of globules that transform into gel under natural conditions is aimed at achieving the physiological pH of the vaginal environment. Formulations were prepared with varying pH and rheological properties. The test showed the work of adhesion of gels. All gels with ratios of 1:1 and 2:1 of lactic acid to chitosan showed a pH in the physiological range at 37°C. Additional hydroxypropylmethylcellulose and excipients allows various formulations with a wide range of pH to be obtained. Rheological investigation revealed an increase in the dynamic viscosity of preparations containing lactic acid complexed with chitosan and hydroxypropylmethylcellulose in comparison to the gels without hydroxypropylmethylcellulose. The study of the work of adhesion showed the effect of hydroxypropylmethylcellulose and their concentration on the value of the work of adhesion. The determinations were performed in I a and II a range on a K-1 cone with a diameter of 36 mm and a 0.917 fissure at 37°C. The shear angle was measured using 12 shear rates in ascending direction and 11 rates in the descending direction. All gels were tested three times, and the results were reported as the average of three measurements. The values of the shear stress and viscosity were calculated from measurements at 37°C.

This problem is proposed to be solved by making a food product - fishballs - based on a combination of minced fish meat from pollock and salmon belly, containing the biologically active chitin mineral food supplement "Hizitel". Dietary supplementation is derived from the waste of processing shrimp shells. The influence of chitin-mineral nutritional supplement on the rheological properties of minced fish and the biological value of products based on it has been studied. The optimum modes of mixing minced fish compositions were identified and the nutritional and biological value of the functional foods developed were defined.

This effect is hampered by numerous anatomic and physiological conditions which do not facilitate prolonged contact of the drug with the application site. This study has shown the impact of the used excipients and the ratio of lactic acid to chitosan on pH, dynamic viscosity and adhesiveness of methylcellulose gels obtained from powders. The addition of sodium alginate and excipients to these complexes allows various formulations to be obtained over a wide range of pH. Rheological investigations revealed an increase in the dynamic viscosity of preparations containing lactic acid complexed with chitosan and sodium alginate in comparison to gels without sodium alginate. Particularly significant are nanocomposites made of chitosan, which is a linear aminopolysaccharide obtained in the process of deacetylation of chitin, and graphene oxide (GO).\u0000These systems, due to the atypical properties of both components such as non-toxicity, biocompatibility with human tissues and organs as well as bacteriostaticity, are characterised by a wide range of biomedical applications.\u0000They may be used in emergency medicine as dressing materials which accelerate wound healing, as well as carriers of drugs/genes and biological macromolecules, for example proteins, peptides and nucleic acids. In addition, CS-GO systems can potentially be used in regenerative medicine as scaffolds for cell culture.\u0000For this reason, the current publication presents the possibilities of the application of chitosan–graphene oxide nanocomposites in medicine considering the characteristics of the system components.

The dynamic swelling behaviour of Ch/Alg/TPP and ascorbic acid release from the membrane were characterised in different buffer solutions. It has been found that the pH of the buffer solution affects the swelling and release behaviour of AA. Ascorbic acid release, observed over a period of 360 min, exhibited a biphasic pattern, characterised by a fast initial burst release, followed by a slow, sustained release. Different mathematical models were used to study the kinetics and transport mechanism of AA from Ch/Alg/TPP hydrogels. Drug release data were fitted to the zero order kinetic model and first order kinetic model. To characterise the drug mechanism, the release data were fitted to the Higuchi and Korsmeyer-Peppas equations. The initial burst AA release followed zero order kinetics and was quasi-Fickian in nature. The second step of AA release followed first order kinetics.
