It can provide complementary information to enhance recognition rate, and it can further enhance the reliability and stability of the identity authentication system. However, although the use of multimodal biometric feature has the advantage to maintain the maximal entropy, yet it will also affect at the same time the training result and operation performance of the classifier at the back end. In this study, we have associated face feature and iris feature to set up multimodal biometric feature vector with high identification rate, meanwhile, PSO is used to perform the optimization design of WPNN classifier architecture so as to realize high performance classifier applicable to multimodal biometric authentication. From the experimental results, it can be proved that the multimodal biometric authentication system as mentioned in this paper, in addition to possessing the feature of reliability and correctness, has also excellent characteristics such as simplified feature vector and fast operation, in other words, it has pretty high practical value.","PeriodicalId":442380,"journal":{"name":"2013 IEEE International Symposium on Consumer Electronics (ISCE)","volume":"69 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-06-03","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114778183","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Multiple cues are fused through defining the likelihood probability terms in particle filtering framework. Skin color has been proven its robustness toward hand region localization in complex background. Thus, we describe it by a Gaussian distribution and further define a skin-color likelihood term. For lighting invariance, we also incorporate the contour information to define two contour likelihood terms. They respectively model the fingertip contour and two-side boundaries of finger. However, the particle filtering generally has degradation problem. To overcome this, we embed the mean shift to the particle filtering framework for convergence consideration. Finally, we validate the proposed approach by providing some experimental results.","PeriodicalId":442380,"journal":{"name":"2013 IEEE International Symposium on Consumer Electronics (ISCE)","volume":"33 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-06-03","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128128092","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

It is proved that the method can effectively extend the tag access range since the tag operating power is almost always satisfied. However, the extension is confined due to waveform distortion of reader command at the tag's demodulator. This work discusses this problem and proposes a solution by adding an additional bandpass filter before the envelope detector. Computer simulation results show that the proposed solution effectively mitigates the demodulation problem.","PeriodicalId":442380,"journal":{"name":"2013 IEEE International Symposium on Consumer Electronics (ISCE)","volume":"18 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-06-03","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114945260","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The management of a large number of computer and peripheral equipment becomes an important issue. For centrally managing such a large number of computers and peripheral equipment scattered in many long-distance locations, the IP-based peripheral equipment is presented in the market today. The smart automatic management which includes automatically handling the common equipment status and controlling the number of running computer is neglected. In addition, managers will usually want a semantic way to think about how to control these devices. This paper presents a user-configurable semantic control system which allows users define their own automation control processes. The prediction of computer status is used for energy control, and the intelligent home language SHPL is also adopted to describe the semantics of the process. The system achieves the cross-device automatic management using device status and the power-saving functionality is also provided.","PeriodicalId":442380,"journal":{"name":"2013 IEEE International Symposium on Consumer Electronics (ISCE)","volume":"174 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-06-03","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116109731","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
