In recent years, the consumers' behaviors have changed from the demands of functional commands to intelligent interactions. As a result, industrial research activities have also evolved to the integration of multiple disciplines. In this presentation, we will give overviews of the key technologies in the areas of electronics and optoeletronics in the industries. The topics include advanced roll-to-roll technologies on ultra-thin substrates, touch panels, optical object human interface, OLED lighting, LED lighting, advanced semiconductor technologies, advanced packaging technologies, interface technologies beyond 60 GHz, and technology integration for bio-medical devices. For example, the roll-to-roll technologies on ultra-thin substrates will change the product “design concepts” of consumer electronics. In addition, it is also a revolution of manufacturing technology. It will replace the conventional stationary chamber process with a continuous rolling process. The former requires an environment of high-voltage, high-temperature, and high-vacuum, while the later can be completed in low-voltage, atmosphere pressure, and room temperatures. Another example is the applications of lighting technologies in our daily life with smart phones and digital camera.","PeriodicalId":442380,"journal":{"name":"2013 IEEE International Symposium on Consumer Electronics (ISCE)","volume":"48 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-06-03","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116542543","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The proposed system captured the real-time video via 17 IP (Internet Protocol) cameras and used self-developed software to perform the judgment computing of different campus abnormal conditions. The judged abnormal situation was recorded, and alerts were automatically sent to pre-specified mobile devices to notify the campus security personnel. Experiments show that the developed system can effectively achieve the performance of immediate monitoring of campus anomalies.","PeriodicalId":442380,"journal":{"name":"2013 IEEE International Symposium on Consumer Electronics (ISCE)","volume":"23 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-06-03","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122649476","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

It is modified from conditional random fields framework and have been shown its advantages for acoustic modeling in speech recognition. This paper extends HCRF methodology to develop a robust technique for noisy speech recognition. We rearrange the linear chain structure of HCRF to its associated HMM and then take approximation of the Gaussian mixture models of the HMM with Taylor expansion. This makes it possible to obtain the proper relation in statistics between HCRF and HMM and then we propose a operative transformation for adapting the seed HCRFs to a set of noise matched HCRFs. This study addresses the following related issues: (1) how to implement the HCRFs-based compensation for noisy environment; (2) the integration of noise and channel bias compensation in HCRF frameworks; and (3) comparison of performance between HMM-based and HCRF-based noisy mixed-lingual (Mandarin and English) speech recognition. The experimental results indicate that proposed HCRF-based model compensation framework enjoys potential for development in robust speech recognition.","PeriodicalId":442380,"journal":{"name":"2013 IEEE International Symposium on Consumer Electronics (ISCE)","volume":"87 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-06-03","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127423874","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The employed AL-FEC scheme can effectively recover the missing Wi-Fi multicast packets in a scalable way. The entire architecture is developed as an Android app \"Power Monitor v2\" and is deployed to the smart devices. A monitoring module of the app periodically collects several data from the devices and stores them locally. A learning engine then operates on the raw data to generate multiple usage patterns over time and space, which characterizes the user contexts. The engine then processes the patterns to generate power saving profiles dynamically within the devices. The profiles contain several system settings of the smart devices and intelligently optimize power consumption. We also present a real life usage pattern and the power saving profile. The overall battery life for the device estimated to increase by 82%.","PeriodicalId":442380,"journal":{"name":"2013 IEEE International Symposium on Consumer Electronics (ISCE)","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-06-03","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130683033","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The results suggest near-infrared spectroscopy (NIRS), representing central nervous system activity, to be a potentially useful index for evaluating emotional states that include “feeling of involvement.” The low frequency/high frequency ratio (LF/HF), which represents sympathetic nervous system activity and emotional state, appears to depend on the type of content. Our results also indicate the potential for improving accuracy of evaluation by combining complex emotional states into a physiological index, and for separately analyzing each group according to participants' preferences.","PeriodicalId":442380,"journal":{"name":"2013 IEEE International Symposium on Consumer Electronics (ISCE)","volume":"41 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-06-03","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114481161","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The major difference between 3GPP Release 10 (Rel-10) LTE-Advanced and the original LTE (Rel-8) is a new entity called relay node (RN) introduced in Rel-10. Since both backhaul link and access link of relay node are radio interface, the RN might be a portable device to move like a UE, and furthermore RN could move with its served UEs in some wireless network environments (e.g. both the RN and UEs inside the vehicle). When one RN handover to new DeNB as group mobility, it will cause a mount of UEs' handover simultaneously. How to manage huge handover signaling and radio resource in DeNB is an important issue in LTE-Advanced networks. In this paper, we try to design some possible solutions and analyze the performance of proposed schemes.","PeriodicalId":442380,"journal":{"name":"2013 IEEE International Symposium on Consumer Electronics (ISCE)","volume":"102 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-06-03","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130363484","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
