The EEMD method [1] is developed to alleviate a key drawback in the original empirical mode decomposition (EMD) algorithm. In a previous research, Huang et al. [2] developed an adaptive and efficient EMD method for nonlinear and nonstationary signal analysis. The physical meaning of a single intrinsic mode function (IMF) is obscure, and the original EMD algorithm cannot separate signals with different scales into appropriate IMFs. To overcome this major drawback, a noise-assisted data analysis (NADA) method called EEMD is developed. Heart sound signals are fed into the proposed system to simulate the EEMD-fixed-point performance. A comparison of the floating-point and fixed-point results exhibits satisfactory consistency and demonstrates that our design can accommodate wide variations of dynamic ranges and complicated calculations.","PeriodicalId":442380,"journal":{"name":"2013 IEEE International Symposium on Consumer Electronics (ISCE)","volume":"67 6 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-06-03","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128356939","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

We adopt the YUV color space for expanding a set of images due to the color space has components representing luminance, saturation, and hue. Therefore, rely on the edge energy of the cropped image area, and ranking of expanding images set from a single input image. The method only deal with the channels combination which chose the maximum scalar values of red, green and blue channel images, respectively. The experimental results show the proposed method is efficient for observing colon polyp.","PeriodicalId":442380,"journal":{"name":"2013 IEEE International Symposium on Consumer Electronics (ISCE)","volume":"41 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-06-03","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123343988","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The proposed system is composed of two units: image acquisition unit and image analysis unit. To evaluate the proposed scheme, several images containing different species of leaves are captured by using low-cost webcam. Experimental results show that our proposed system can detect leaf regions well in images. In addition, the accuracy rate of the proposed system for measuring leaf area is more than 99%. In addition, the average execution time for each image is 143.8 msecs. These results demonstrate that our proposed system can not only efficiently locate and measure leaf areas but also count leaves in real-world noisy images.","PeriodicalId":442380,"journal":{"name":"2013 IEEE International Symposium on Consumer Electronics (ISCE)","volume":"27 6","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-06-03","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114013613","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In the proposed system, sensors obtain behavior of elderly people living alone. Then, suspicion of dementia is determined by calculating a score of sensed behavior. Two different analytical methods are applied to determine suspicion of senile dementia. In the experiment, Suitable analytical methods were determined for this system in environment by pseudo patients with dementia. The problem is formulated as invariant image feature matching among opposite viewpoints of cameras, i.e. complementary object matching. For example, a front vehicle object may be given as a query to retrieve a rear vehicle object of the same vehicle. To solve the complementary object matching, invariant image feature is first extracted based on ASIFT (affine and scale-invariant feature transform) for each detected vehicle in a camera network. Then, the ASIFT feature is expanded via a special vehicle database. As a result, cross-camera vehicle matching with the help of complementary part can be greatly improved. Experimental results demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed algorithm and the feasibility to video forensics applications.","PeriodicalId":442380,"journal":{"name":"2013 IEEE International Symposium on Consumer Electronics (ISCE)","volume":"63 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-06-03","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129385871","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
