In the model, all actors in the Smart Grid can be treated as object things. When the push-based managerial operations with form of query initiated from head-ends, a Resource Discovery System can analyze the intension of the query and recommend the list of object things meet the criteria. The managerial operation can therefore be either directly sent or semantically/selectively flooded to destination object things. The bi-directional and targeted operations between headends and data concentrators can be implemented in AMI with scalable, flexible and effective manners.","PeriodicalId":442380,"journal":{"name":"2013 IEEE International Symposium on Consumer Electronics (ISCE)","volume":"84 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-06-03","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127354280","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

A simple detection method which uses the spreading sequences in the RFID protocol is considered. The number of unreliable bits n taken into account in the detection scheme influences the packet error rate (PER) and the false negative rate (FNratio). The performance of the detection for varying n is compared.","PeriodicalId":442380,"journal":{"name":"2013 IEEE International Symposium on Consumer Electronics (ISCE)","volume":"2 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-06-03","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115523640","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The proposed scheme allocates resources based on the knowledge of buffer statuses and channel conditions to reduce the waste of system resources and improve the aggregate throughput. We conducted simulations to compare the performance of our proposed BA scheme with that of other approaches. The results illustrate that our scheme can effectively improve the aggregate throughput and decrease the system resource waste in comparison with other approaches, and thus enhance the overall LTE uplink efficiency.","PeriodicalId":442380,"journal":{"name":"2013 IEEE International Symposium on Consumer Electronics (ISCE)","volume":"33 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-06-03","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114985726","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The approach makes use of partitioning to divide the LUT entries into multiple small LUTs in parallel, where their outputs can be further selected to obtain the equivalent binary number. Pipelining architecture is also incorporated to improve the operation speed. These techniques are hence suitable for general moduli set with large moduli value. Implementation results based on FPGA further demonstrate the feasibility and effectiveness of the proposed approach.","PeriodicalId":442380,"journal":{"name":"2013 IEEE International Symposium on Consumer Electronics (ISCE)","volume":"27 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-06-03","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129467988","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

A multi-DSP device has been used to parallelize the execution of the processes. The battery powered switches and relay unit are the basic components of the system. Conventionally, the communication between switches and the relay unit is implemented in a wired fashion. In this study, a wireless network has been established based on the IEEE 802.15.4 personal area network standard. The relay unit and switches are configured as the coordinator and end devices in the wireless network, respectively. The experimental results show that the battery powered switches are able to provide service for more than 5 years with a relatively small capacity battery.","PeriodicalId":442380,"journal":{"name":"2013 IEEE International Symposium on Consumer Electronics (ISCE)","volume":"3 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-06-03","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128743456","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
