Concretely, the hybrid tracking method is a video tracking system based on tracking a uniquely designed marker, and present a scenario where the electromagnetic system can be combined with the video based system to obtain a cost-effective system. A developed objective function is adopted to merge tensor representing the 3-D locations of optical and electromagnetic signals and, estimated instruments trajectory, updated simultaneously using Kalman filter. The proposed approach has been implemented and shows the results on both synthetic and animal data.","PeriodicalId":442380,"journal":{"name":"2013 IEEE International Symposium on Consumer Electronics (ISCE)","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-06-03","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129998975","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The proposed algorithm does not need training data and can be applied in dynamic and complex environments. The proposed method can directly find the palm area and fingers. It needs neither segmenting the wrist nor finding the contour. The detecting procedure is simple and fast. The experimental results show that the proposed method can detect hands in real time with low computing consumption under up to 3 meters of the distance between webcam and hand.","PeriodicalId":442380,"journal":{"name":"2013 IEEE International Symposium on Consumer Electronics (ISCE)","volume":"54 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-06-03","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130135834","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

To improve power efficiency of body area network, data compression was studied in this paper. Moreover, an analytical model was developed to evaluate the power efficiency of BAN system. Simulation results show that good power efficiency can be achieved by data compression. It also proved that higher data rate can help to improve energy efficiency. When its compression factor is bigger than 2 and its power consumption does not exceed 40% of the transceiver, better energy efficiency always can be guaranteed by processing unit insertion.","PeriodicalId":442380,"journal":{"name":"2013 IEEE International Symposium on Consumer Electronics (ISCE)","volume":"16 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-06-03","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129087039","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The MV images are firstly preprocessed to enhance contrast in the treatment field. To deal with large variations in projected marker shape, we propose a learning-based approach to detect marker locations in the enhanced MV images. We also show that marker tracking can be accomplished much more efficiently and reliably by exploiting temporal correlation between consecutive MV images. Thus, the proposed framework can accurately localize multiple markers in low-contrast MV images while satisfying the real-time constraints imposed by the IGRT. Our method has been validated using manual marker annotations as ground-truth. The marker detection rate on patient images was at least 96% for the cases collected from multiple treatment fractions.","PeriodicalId":442380,"journal":{"name":"2013 IEEE International Symposium on Consumer Electronics (ISCE)","volume":"136 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-06-03","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123208124","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In this scope, one of the most used techniques is “fusion”, where High-Resolution (HR) images are constructed from several observed Low-Resolution (LR) images. In this paper, a fusion SR algorithm is enhanced introducing an intelligent selective filter which decides the best LR frames to be used in the process. Additionally, an adaptive Macro-Block (MB) size decision maker has been developed to specify an appropriate frame division into MBs. This not only improves the quality but also reduces the computational cost of the baseline algorithm, avoiding the incorporation of non-correlated data. It is also presented how this new algorithm performs well with typical SR applications, such as underwater imagery, surveillance video or remote sensing. The algorithm results are provided on a test environment to objectively compare the quality enhancement of images processed by bilinear interpolation and the two aforementioned methods: Baseline and Enhanced SR, presenting a quantitative comparison based on the PSNR (Peak Signal-to-Noise Ratio) and the SSIM (Structural SIMilarity index).","PeriodicalId":442380,"journal":{"name":"2013 IEEE International Symposium on Consumer Electronics (ISCE)","volume":"63 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-06-03","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126355459","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In the 802.11 wireless sensor network, the hosts in the power saving mode must have to wake-up every beacon interval to check if they have to remain awake in the remaining of the beacon interval. In our study, the authors proposed the adaptive grid-quorum method to involve the power saving idea in the event-driven wireless sensor network. With the fuzzified balancing algorithm proposed, the system not only can solve the mentioned network problem, but also can remain the efficiency enhancement and energy-saving issues at the same time.","PeriodicalId":442380,"journal":{"name":"2013 IEEE International Symposium on Consumer Electronics (ISCE)","volume":"50 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-06-03","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"134485740","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The DCT embedding region size grows as the maximum number of interference-free watermarks increases. In previous methods, each CCC-based watermark was embedded as a cyclically shifted zero-inserted sequence. An alternative embedding method is proposed where the zeros are removed, leading to a significant reduction of the embedding region size without affecting the performance.","PeriodicalId":442380,"journal":{"name":"2013 IEEE International Symposium on Consumer Electronics (ISCE)","volume":"3 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-06-03","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133857735","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
