To improve power efficiency of body area network, data compression was studied in this paper. Moreover, an analytical model was developed to evaluate the power efficiency of BAN system. Simulation results show that good power efficiency can be achieved by data compression. It also proved that higher data rate can help to improve energy efficiency.
