Methods: This study was conducted in outpatient Nephrology Clinic of Children's Hospital, Fayoum University. It included 27 children with nephrotic syndrome to be followed during both relapse and after 6 weeks after start of steroid therapy, and 27 healthy children as control group. Results: There were significant decreases in antithrombin III, albumin and total proteins levels in the study group during relapse and after steroid therapy their levels were improved while there were significant increases in platelet count, cholesterol, triglycerides levels during relapse which also improved after steroid therapy. There was no thromboembolic complications detected among the study group. Conclusions: Antithrombin III level is significantly decrease in children with nephritic syndrome and despite of the hypercoagulable state no thromboembolic complications can be detected in children with nephrotic syndrome.","PeriodicalId":436341,"journal":{"name":"Fayoum University Medical Journal","volume":"36 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115113279","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Overall, 98% of them were males, and all were older than 40 years. Patients were classified into three groups: mild, moderate, and severe. Amount of cigarettes was found to be directly proportionate to COPD burden. Regarding weight burden, obesity wasn’t found to be a sign of increasing burden of the disease, while cachexia was found in the more severe COPD stage. We found that dyspnea and other symptoms of the disease were found to be increased with increased disease severity indicating more health burden with the more severe COPD stages. Also ,Mental health status had a direct positive correlation with COPD severity.","PeriodicalId":436341,"journal":{"name":"Fayoum University Medical Journal","volume":"32 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-07-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125384779","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The pathogenesis involves androgen-induced minaturisation of terminal hairs into vellus hairs in affected regions of the scalp. Some degree of follicular minaturisation and consequential hair loss is universal and is considered to be a physiological secondary sexual characteristic. Various studies evaluated serum ferritin level and serum vitamin d levels in patients with alopecia. Most studies done on female patients with alopecia with very constracting results.Very few studies evaluated serum ferritin level and serum vitamin D levels in males with androgenetic alopecia , so we tried to spot light in that issue. The aim of this study is to measure serum vitamin D and serum ferritin levels in patients with male pattern hair loss compared to control. This study was conducted in Dermatology Department of Fayoum University Hospital. 60 male subjects were included, 30 patients had androgenetic alopecia and 30 apparently healthy volunteers as control group. Aim of Work: To evaluate the value of CT in assessment of CHD in pediatrics as a non-invasive presurgical planning method and to compare its results with those of ECHO. Patients and Methods: This research included 50 children with an age up to 12 years-old, evaluated first by ECHO and referred CT examination for further assessment prior surgical interference. Such was conducted in Fayoum University Hospital Radiology Department. The diagnostic susceptibility, relevance, KAPPA and P-values, and ROC was performed according to AUC values of 2 methods. Results: We compared relevance for ECHO and CT in the identification of congenital cardiac impairments which chowed superior susceptibility for ECHO in the detection of heart composition s and heart vascular communication aberrations, while superior susceptibility for CT for detection of vascular impairments. Conclusions: The diagnostic susceptibility of both methods for CHD is comparably high with high. Each has its own advantages and disadvantages. ECHO is superior than CT in the identification of atrial septal aberrations, ASD and septal aneurysm. The bair are good in double outlet RV and TGA. On the other hand, CT is sensitive in Aortic pseudocoarctation, Aortic arch aberrations, peripheral PS, and atypical systemic venous drainage and tracing of APCs.","PeriodicalId":436341,"journal":{"name":"Fayoum University Medical Journal","volume":"18 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122492581","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Other causes include genetic or metabolic syndromes and vascular tumors of the baby or placenta. Patients and methods: This crosssectional study is conducted on 200 Neonates, delivered by normal or cesarean section in Fayoum University Hospital& Fayoum General Hospital. Hemoglobin and Ferritin levels in cord blood are determined. Results: The mean ± SD of HB & Ferritin was: 12.61 ± 2.44% and 104.96 ± 98.17 respectively. About one eighth 24 / 200 (12.0 %) of studied neonates had ferritin deficiency (FD). Conclusion: In Our study, more than one third (39%) of study neonates had anemia. One eights 24/ 200 (12%) of neonates had Ferritin deficiency. 9.5% of study neonates had iron deficiency anemia (IDA).
