They are mostly asymptomatic and may disappear without treatment within three months. The appropriate management of functional ovarian cysts is the most controversial problems facing gynecologists today despite the different treatment modalities. Aim of the study: The study aimed to assess the efficacy of Doxium versus chymotrypsin on the resolution of simple ovarian cysts. Subjects cysts management before. The patients were divided into two equal groups, each with 50 women. Group A included women treated with Doxium, where group B had the women treated with Alphintern. All patients attended the outpatient clinic after the end of menstruation for three consecutive months for a transvaginal ultrasound. Results: Both lines of treatment resulted in the management of FOC, with persistence percentage in doxium and alphintern (20% and 5%, respectively), but doxium has better results in a patient with normal BMI than obese and overweight than alphintern. Conclusion: Doxium and Alphintern proved their effectiveness in FOC management (new novel), but we need to increase the dose of doxium in overweight and obese patients. Moreover, alphintern is more efficient in the improvement of functional ovarian cyst in overweight and obese patient.","PeriodicalId":436341,"journal":{"name":"Fayoum University Medical Journal","volume":"25 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-04-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130376952","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

However, general anesthesia is mandatory for most cases, concomitant local anesthetics administration is preferable to improve patient satisfaction, decrease post-operative analgesic requirements, post-operative pain and oculocardiac reflex (OCR), which is a noted serious com-plication that accompanies such surgeries. Aim of the study: The study aimed to evaluate the efficacy of adding peribulbar block (PBB) to general anesthesia on incidence of oculocardiac reflex, postoperative pain, nausea, and vomiting (PONV) in patients undergoing unilateral strabismus surgery. Subjects and Methods: 70 patients undergoing strabismus surgery were recruited in the current study. Participants were equally divided into two groups; Group (1) didn’t receive PBB, while Group (2) had a combination of general anesthesia and PBB. Pain evaluation by visual analog score (VAS) was assessed at 2-, 6-, 12-, and 24-hours post-operation. Results: Incidence of OCR was higher in group (1) than in group (2) (25.7% vs. 5.7%), which was a statistically significant, P=0.022. Also, incidence of nausea and vomiting (PONV) was a statistically significantly higher in group (1) than in group 2 (42.9% vs. 17.1%), P=0.019. As regarding VAS score for pain was statistically significantly lower in group (2) than group (1) at two hours (40 vs. 20), six hours (40 vs. 20), twelve hours (20 vs. 0), and twenty-four hours P<0.0001. Conclusion: PBB had a great benefit in strabismus surgery when combined with general anesthesia. It reduced the incidence of OCR, post-operative pain score, and PONV.","PeriodicalId":436341,"journal":{"name":"Fayoum University Medical Journal","volume":"43 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-04-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123373128","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The cause of RA is unknown but there is a combination of genetic and multiple environmental factors dietary resulting in systemic inflammation. Vitamin D not only plays a major role in the regulation of bone mineral homeostasis but also plays a role in in the regulation of the immune response through a different mechanism, these data support a vitamin D deficiency role in the development and progression of RA and other autoimmune diseases. Long-term vitamin D deficiency may lead to decreased immune response and chronic inflammation, which may cause disabling pain. Individuals with vitamin D deficiency often report increased pain perception, which has been referred to hyperinnervation and hypersensitivity in nerve fibers.","PeriodicalId":436341,"journal":{"name":"Fayoum University Medical Journal","volume":"56 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-01-06","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121648783","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Infected patients with COVID-19 exhibit a wide spectrum of symptoms and severity; ranging from totally asymptomatic carriers to severe symptoms such as ARDS, septic shock with MOF. ARDS is the most critical clinical manifestation of COVID-19, induced mainly through immune response (i.e., cytokine storm). ACE2 is the main receptor for SARS-COV2, definitively play an important role in the pathogenesis and severity of covid-19 by its wide distribution throughout the body organs and its role in modulating the immune system. Aim of the work was to collect and analyze the hematological characteristics of patients with COVID-19 admitted at FUH. Type of the study: Retrospective cohort study. We performed a retrospective study of the hematological characteristics in confirmed cases with COVID-19 by RT-PCR hospitalized at FUH between April and July 2020. Baseline demographic data of the studied patients. The main gender was male with 69.3% percentage with mean age 37.4 ±15.6 (between 4 and 6 decade), about 61.4% of them came from rural areas. Our results revealed that, the predictor importance of CRP; it is directly related to the patient's age, positively affects the duration of hospital stay, fever and to some extent on the O2 saturation /hypoxia. Based on the current study results, we can conclude that: CRP, has perfect accuracy in predicting cases with positive RTPCR for COVID-19 and their severity. In Egypt, these are most notably schistosomiasis and fascioliasis. The aim of this study is to survey and examine fresh water snails in some water courses of rural districts at Al-Fayoum governorate for the presence of parasitic infective stages. Eight different watercourses were involved in this study. Snail sampling was conducted seasonally between spring 2018 to winter 2019. Eleven Trematode species of fresh water snails were detected in the chosen watercourses, out of them only 5 speies were naturally infected with trematodes, (e.g. B.alexandrina with Schistosoma mansoni, B. trancatus with S. haematobium). Informationgained from such studies supposed to help in giving indication on the risk sites and times where the snail vectors of trematodes should be attacked.","PeriodicalId":436341,"journal":{"name":"Fayoum University Medical Journal","volume":"27 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125465223","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
