There is a greater emphasis on communication channels in this segment of Information Technology based industry. Effective, faster and efficient communication channels are essential to ensure continuous tracking and control throughout the software production and development cycle. This paper discusses the modes of communication in the software segment of the information technology industry. People working in this industry are identified as 'knowledge workers.' This special group of technical workers communicate among themselves for official and unofficial purposes using the various modes available to them. Knowledge workers display discretion in selecting communication the modes - interpersonal as well as the technology based. They ideally use appropriate among available modes to suit organizational needs. They also utilize the modes of communication to preserve their freedom at work and at the same time be accountable for their tasks to the authority. This paper is based on intensive case study, using participant observation method and conducted in two large firms in the city of Hyderabad. Aiming at solving this dilemma, this paper explores the latest researches on indigenous innovation, and analyzes the long time innovation practices from the Haier Group. Through the analysis , this paper finds out that the total innovation management (TIM) is the basis of indigenous innovation, as strategic innovation is essential for directing indigenous innovation and market-oriented innovation sets up its goal, while cultural innovation builds up innovation environment and atmosphere. In the end, the paper concludes that enterprises must carry out indigenous innovation for their sustainable development, and indigenous innovation must be based on the TIM with regular mind change as the soul, last but not least, it must be directed by clear strategic goal and plan","PeriodicalId":431021,"journal":{"name":"2006 IEEE International Conference on Management of Innovation and Technology","volume":"25 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2006-06-21","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122910975","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In the project environment, risk management is an effective and prevailing method to deal with project uncertainties. However, it is far from being a panacea. Worse, risk management is filled with pitfalls that we must be aware of and avoid. Otherwise, the process won't help much, on the contrary, significant waste of resources and opportunities could result. Categorically there are three types of risks that we normally face in a project. The first two types of risks are known unknowns. Once they are identified, they can be managed. The third kind is due to human errors, which are often hidden and undetectable until they become crises. Though human errors can be deadly, since they are man-made, they are avoidable. In project risk management, we must do all the five steps right to be effective. Regarding the importance of the issue, the method of implementing the research is based on the explanation and measurement. In this research the statistical community includes all the biotechnology projects in the commercial production scale. The research findings indicated that the most of the projects have chosen the modern technology transfer methods and processes, but their conformity, absorption, application, development, and promotion were respectively incomplete and imperfect. This finding differs from the complete technology transfer which could be successful. Perfect success of technology transfer in general and biotechnology in particular, is achieved when it leads to a complete transfer of the imported technology. Therefore, regarding the research findings and the comprehensive definition of biotechnology transfer, it is concluded that the success level of biotechnology transfer (based on the applied technology transfer methods) in the statistical community is incomplete","PeriodicalId":431021,"journal":{"name":"2006 IEEE International Conference on Management of Innovation and Technology","volume":"6 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2006-06-21","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124956157","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The recruitment and selection process consists of several steps. This paper focuses mainly on the step in which the applicants have to fill out application forms and undergo an initial screening interview. This step is very important because human resource recruiters must choose qualified candidates out of many applicants to be interviewed with the supervisors responsible for the job. Recruiters of many companies face a lot of problems performing this step especially when they have to perform it manually. Thus we were motivated to develop a more efficient way in filling out and processing application forms and develop job application support system to aid interviewers during the preliminary interview process. Job application support system consists of three main components including electronic application form, electronic telephone interview and electronic interview. The application module is constructed based on the competency matrix derived at each level of employment. Interview questions are determined based on the chosen competencies and are used to screen out candidates during a competency-based behavioral interview. A quantitative multi-objective decision model and job assignment model are developed for job-applicant matching process. The models are used to manage the data from the job application forms and evaluate the results from job interviewers. Job application support system is expected to bring about many positive changes. It can speed up the recruitment process by filtering out unwanted applicants and allow a better facilitation of the interview process by providing interviewers with guidelines and forms with which they could fill out. Cost can be saved because there are less paperwork. The quantitative multi-objective decision model and job assignment model that are developed can provide a more efficient way for job-applicant matching process","PeriodicalId":431021,"journal":{"name":"2006 IEEE International Conference on Management of Innovation and Technology","volume":"38 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2006-06-21","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121892973","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The Australian government advocates the formation of SMEs cluster thereby encouraging SMEs to achieve competitive advantage through globalisation. However, the notion of SMEs clusters involves some issues in terms of its adoption by SMEs. Firstly, most academic research shows that SMEs cluster has been treated as a phenomenon in the economy and that its foundation lacks a theoretical perspective. Secondly, there is a lack of understanding of SME clusters in general. Much of the literature on SMEs and clusters has primarily addressed the benefit of industrial clusters; however, the process of how SMEs adopt clusters is given less attention. This study leads to a more refined understanding of SME clusters with an emphasis on its adoption by SMEs. It utilises Roger's Innovation theory to explore the processes involved in the adoption of SMEs cluster by SMEs and also the advantages and disadvantages obtained by doing so. The novelty of this study lies in the assumption that the cluster idea is an innovation per se. In particular, we adopt Roger's S-shaped innovation curve model to investigate how SMEs adopt the cluster idea as an innovation. We look to see if the pattern of joining the cluster in time follows Roger's S-shaped curve. A case study methodology method will be used to collect data from SMEs within a cluster in Australia. It is expected that the data gathered will be analysed to suggest implications as to how SMEs can sustain competitive advantage within SME clusters","PeriodicalId":431021,"journal":{"name":"2006 IEEE International Conference on Management of Innovation and Technology","volume":"117 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2006-06-21","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121530028","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
