However, there are numerous factors affecting reading, and related research needs to be deepened continuously. The purpose of this paper is to investigate the relationship between reading anxiety and reading ability among Chinese non-English majors. It is found that lexical-grammatical anxiety, chapter genre anxiety, emotional anxiety and cultural anxiety affect college English reading ability. Through the quantitative-descriptive research method, the study explored pragmatic competence and intercultural sensitivity of Chinese EFL learners and tested whether the respondents’ pragmatic competence and intercultural sensitivity are significantly correlated with each other. The results reveals that Chinese EFL learners were at the intermediate level of overall pragmatic competence and intercultural sensitivity. The correlations between respondents’ pragmatic competence and intercultural sensitivity were highly significant.
