März 2019 in den Räumen der Privatklinik Wyss AG in Münchenbuchsee, Kanton Bern gegründet. Sie ist weltweit, nach der International Society of Sports Psychiatry ISSP, die zweite sportpsychiatrische und -psychotherapeutische Fachgesellschaft und zudem die erste nationale Fachgesellschaft dieser Art. Als Zweck der SGSPP wurde die Förderung der Sportpsychiatrie und -psychotherapie über die Lebensspanne in der Schweiz, im Leistungssport und in der Allgemeinbevölkerung formuliert. Hieraus ergeben sich zwei Tätigkeitsfelder der SGSPP: Psychische Gesundheit im Leistungssport; Sport, Training und Bewegung in Prävention und Therapie psychischer Erkrankungen.","PeriodicalId":424978,"journal":{"name":"Sports & Exercise Medicine Switzerland","volume":"21 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128016427","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The on-going outbreak is of international concern and most countries have already announced a series of protective measures to confront this health threat of unknown magnitude. Travel warnings, scientific congress suspensions, cancellations of national holidays and closing of schools, amusement parks, cinemas, theatres and gyms are only some of these measures.\u0000The impact in sports is also tremendous. Major sport events like the 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games and Euro 2020 have been postponed. Others like the Miami Open and the Wimbledon tennis tournament have been cancelled and there is an ongoing discussion for forthcoming events. However, few have been said regarding the impact of limiting public exercise.","PeriodicalId":424978,"journal":{"name":"Sports & Exercise Medicine Switzerland","volume":"13 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123738562","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Competitive athletes are exposed to risk factors for poor MH specific to the competitive sport context. One such risk factor are athletic career transitions, whereby the junior-to-senior-level transition (JST) is considered one of the most difficult of within career transitions. During this time, developmental changes must be mastered on a psychological, athletic, and educational level and conflicts that occur between the different areas of life, such as school, family, and sports can become more acute. JST is thus a particularly vulnerable period for the MH of competitive sport athletes. In this article, we describe a counseling approach that seems well suited to promote the MH of JST athletes within a sport psychology consulting setting. The approach is based on self-determination theory and ego-state theory. We illustrate the application of our counseling approach with an exemplary case. Finally, we provide recommendations for how sport psychology practitioners can promote MH in JST athletes.","PeriodicalId":424978,"journal":{"name":"Sports & Exercise Medicine Switzerland","volume":"6 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122331789","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

En consultation, l’évaluation rapide des sources de cette fatigue est un réel challenge; les adolescents, leurs parents et les entraineurs peinent en effet à l’expliciter précisément. Cet article a pour but de faciliter la compréhension des déterminants psychologiques et situationnels pouvant mener à une fatigue limitant la performance sportive et potentiellement dangereuse pour la santé des athlètes. Il est important de considérer les facteurs appartenant à la situation sportive du jeune athlète mais également les spécificités relatives à la période de l’adolescence. Dans ce sens, les professionnels de la santé et les acteurs du monde sportif trouveront des outils pour développer des moyens de prévention et de récupération adaptés. Nous nommerons ici l’adolescent sportif «l’athlète» et considérerons les jeunes entre 10 et 19 ans pour suivre les critères d’âge de l’OMS [2].","PeriodicalId":424978,"journal":{"name":"Sports & Exercise Medicine Switzerland","volume":"135 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132583361","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Although exercise addiction is not yet recognized as a psychiatric disorder, evidence for the burden it imposes has gained attention in the last decade. Characterised by a rigid exercise schedule, the prioritization of exercise over one’s own health, family and professional life, and mental wellbeing, and extreme distress when exercise is halted, the phenomenon shares many feature with substance use disorders. While prevalence is thought to be low, affecting one in every 1000 exercisers, current research suggests that the symptoms are extremely burdensome, and may often be accompanied by other psychiatric disorders. It is no longer thought to be the case that only endurance athletes are at risk. While disease history and neural substrates are still to be clarified, there are a number of indicators which may help clinicians and sports physicians identify a possible case of exercise addiction.","PeriodicalId":424978,"journal":{"name":"Sports & Exercise Medicine Switzerland","volume":"17 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122120998","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Poor oral health is an important issue as it has a clear impact on quality of life, confidence, appearance and socialisation. It also has an impact on sport performance and training with impaired preparation for competition. Many causes to impaired oral health can include nutritional diet and carbohydrate supplementation, oral dehydration, depression of various aspect of the immune function due to intense exercise, negative health behaviours, lack of awareness, time and prioritisation. Facial traumas and oro-dental injuries have to be considered because of their high prevalence among athletes. This update tries to raise awareness of the issues of oral health amongst health-care providers and give simple interventions and strategies for prevention and promotion.","PeriodicalId":424978,"journal":{"name":"Sports & Exercise Medicine Switzerland","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130140380","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
