The initial outbreak of COVID-19 in Wuhan spread rapidly, affecting other parts of China and soon other countries becoming a global threat. [1]\u0000On 11 March 2020, the WHO has declared the ‘Pandemic state’ calling the governments to take ‘urgent and aggressive action’ to delay and mitigate the peak of infection.\u0000To respond to COVID-19 public health experts and government officials are taking several measures, including social distancing, self-isolation, or quarantine; strengthening health facilities to control the disease; and asking people to work at home.\u0000To safeguard the health of athletes and others involved all forms of organized sport have been either cancelled or postponed. These range from mass participation events such as marathon races to football league and even to the Olympics and Paralympics that for the first time in the history of the modern games, have been postponed, and will be held in 2021.\u0000All sport in Italy had been suspended from early March and from April the lockdown measures had been extended to the training session for professional and non-professional athletes within all sport facilities. Unlike Italy, the Swiss government has not imposed a general curfew so athletes continued to train outdoor although training in a group was forbidden. [2,3]\u0000Some athletes in this situation will be able to build on existing coping resources while others athletes may experience psychological symptoms including fear of being infected, anxiety of physical recovery if infected, disturbed sleep, eating disorders, obsessive-compulsive disorder, and family conflicts.

Founded in 1969 as a loose working group, the Swiss Association for Sport Psychology SASP became an association in 1987. The focus was on supporting athletes in their performance, but also on questions of rehabilitation and health sport. Reports about dubious practices of self-proclaimed mental coaches brought the question of high-quality psychological counselling into focus. An adaptation of Donabedian’s quality management model (1966) and the analysis of the required competences led to the development of a curriculum and in 2005 to the creation of the specialist title for sport psychology by the FSP. Continuing education courses are offered by the Universities of Bern and Lausanne. Graduates are qualified to work independently and competently in sport psychology with individuals and groups in the field of sport and physical activity. Today, sport psychologists perform numerous tasks in the support system of Swiss sport. With its broad range of services in a wide variety of sport areas, sport psychology will continue to be able to generate added value for practitioners and make an important contr

The study was integrated in regular P.E. lessons. \u0000In addition to the training load, daily changes of easily measurable cardiologic parameters were monitored in order to assess their validity in predicting endurance performance.\u0000The students conducted 12 training sessions in two groups. With pre- and post-tests the endurance capacity was determined via Luc Léger’s shuttle run test.\u0000Heart rate parameters were measured within a time period of one week prior to and after the intervention. \u0000Running performance improved in the HIIT group significantly by 6.5% (p < 0.05), but remained constant in the POL group (+2,4%). \u0000Those students who improved their endurance performance by at least 5% simultaneously had a significantly \u0000(p < 0.05) increased HRV (rMSSD +11%). Participants who could not improve their persormance by 5% showed a significantly (p < 0.05) decreased HRV (rMSSD –8%).\u0000The HIIT group improved their endurance capacity with only 47% of training time compared to the POL group. \u0000HRV was, in contrast to resting heart rate, a valid predictor of endurance capacity.

The correct execution and quality of movement must be supervised so that the training can be implemented in a goal-oriented manner and ultimately lead to adequate muscular fatigue. Individual guidance and occasional monitoring by a physical therapist are helpful. The main focus is on training the gluteal and quadriceps muscles, as well as the corresponding muscular chains of the lower extremity and the trunk, which together provide the conditions for a stable leg axis. As a result, pain can be reduced and muscle function improved in people with patellofemoral knee problems.
