This paper deals with the translation of the poetic form from a descriptivist perspective from a corpus of 69 Spanish translations of Shakespeare’s Sonnets published between 1877 and 2018. It addresses, particularly, the outer form or macrostructure of the poems using one sonnet of each translation as a prototype. This analysis will serve as a basis for classifying these translations according to James S. Holmes’ metapoem forms and for proposing a revision of this model. While there are certain forms or patterns repeated throughout, the diverse solutions show that there is no single favoured way of rendering these sonnets, not even during a specific period (beyond the preference for verse over prose).","PeriodicalId":42374,"journal":{"name":"Sendebar-Revista de Traduccion e Interpretacion","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.4,"publicationDate":"2021-11-05","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"47289733","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The present study aimed to shed light on the impact of ideology on audiovisual translation with regard to Persian dubbing of three Hollywood animations. First, the concept of ideology and hegemony within Hollywood products were discussed. Then, the translations of culture-specific items (CSIs) and taboos were analytically examined and finally discussed according to Venuti’s (2008) theory. The results indicated that translators tried to produce highly domesticated versions of the originals. The findings showed that the status of cultures, minor or dominant, could play a key role in translators’ decisions. When translators translate from a dominant to a minor culture, some form of resistance may be born. The target community cultural institutions tend to use translation as their last cultural fortress.","PeriodicalId":42374,"journal":{"name":"Sendebar-Revista de Traduccion e Interpretacion","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.4,"publicationDate":"2021-11-05","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"49164507","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

El objetivo del presente estudio es darlos a conocer mediante el análisis temático de 14 entrevistados. Los resultados desvelan que muchos no tienen formación específica; que la mayoría han realizado estancias en países de habla sinófona; que la relación con las editoriales es fluida e incluso algunos les han hecho propuestas, a pesar de no poder vivir de ello; que los programas de formación actuales presentan algunas disfunciones en relación con las demandas del mercado laboral y que los retos a los que se enfrentan al traducir son de diversa índole, aunque las referencias histórico-culturales destacan entre los más recurrentes. Finalmente, se apuntan algunas ideas que se desprenden de los resultados para mejorar la formación, así como posibles futuras líneas de investigación por lo que al perfil profesional del traductor literario del chino se refiere.","PeriodicalId":42374,"journal":{"name":"Sendebar-Revista de Traduccion e Interpretacion","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.4,"publicationDate":"2021-11-05","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"47519147","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Los resultados demostraron que los participantes no se mostraban excesivamente optimistas con respecto a la formación actual, ya que consideraban que, aunque es satisfactoria, resulta insuficiente; también señalaron los problemas que existen en el mercado y en la formación, y ofrecieron maneras de mejorarlos a través de la formación en traducción del japonés. Globalization has created a great need for multilingual versions of all kinds of legal texts. However, both law itself and legal language and terminology have a special characteristic: they are system-bound. Every country or autonomous region sets up its own legal system, and this has far-reaching consequences not only for the drawing up and especially the translation of legal texts, but also for comparative law and international and European law. \u0000In this article, we describe certain typical features of the terminology of labour law and expand on one particular term to show the problems in translation work. The multilingual character of European law, the need for translation and the specific wording of labour law texts in the individual member states lead to many translation problems and to legal insecurity for citizens. By analysing relevant terms in the transport sector, we discuss current research that compares concepts and terms in European, Polish, Dutch and Belgian labour law.","PeriodicalId":42374,"journal":{"name":"Sendebar-Revista de Traduccion e Interpretacion","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.4,"publicationDate":"2021-11-05","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"46857652","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

En primer lugar, podemos indicar la existencia de nuevos espacios alternativos de distribución y publicación que potencian la tendencia a la autotraducción por parte de los dramaturgos de los territorios bilingües del Estado español. La concepción como «Comunidad interliteraria» de nuestro espacio geocultural aparece, pues, reforzada en las prácticas de los nuevos creadores escénicos, quienes, además, conciben el autotrasvase como parte integrante del proceso creativo. Así mismo, se comprueba en la versión analizada cómo aquellos aspectos que pueden suponer algún obstáculo a la traducción, como la reproducción del conflicto diglósico, son neutralizados. El «borrado» de la especificidad de las distintas tradiciones nacionales plantea en último término una amenaza para la propia supervivencia del sistema teatral periférico.","PeriodicalId":42374,"journal":{"name":"Sendebar-Revista de Traduccion e Interpretacion","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.4,"publicationDate":"2021-11-05","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"43390076","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Al igual que Borges, Monterroso parece situar la traducción literaria en un nivel más alto que la obra original. Organizamos los comentarios dispersos según el idioma fuente y también examinamos sus comentarios sobre traducciones del español a otros idiomas. Monterroso se manifiesta como precursor en los estudios de la traducción por la profundidad de sus reflexiones por más contradictorias que sean. Desarrolla diversos tópicos conocidos: los conceptos de originalidad y de fidelidad, lo intraducible, el lugar del traductor, la falta de traducciones de obras importantes, la historia de las traducciones y las traducciones erróneas. Monterroso señala los «peligros» del oficio del traductor, pero con humor e ironía percibe la traducción como un juego que le permite hacer asociaciones inesperadas entre diversos textos literarios.","PeriodicalId":42374,"journal":{"name":"Sendebar-Revista de Traduccion e Interpretacion","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.4,"publicationDate":"2021-11-05","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"48620229","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
