For subjects related to computer science, programming assignments can't be avoided. But it's hard for human to review massive answers. Therefore, on the basis of former study, we put forward a new method, which is on the level of source code comprehension. In this paper, we revealed a method of programming assignment automatic assessing. Our project, Programming Assignments Automatic Assessing (PAAA), imitates human reviewers' action, and take such strategy to look through the source code. Furthermore, with the help of general grammar analyze tool ANTLR, it is able to read source code written in different languages, and build a language-independent program directed graph. Through a lot of tests, PAAA can be up to a lot of grading jobs of programming assignments assessment. And the result shows that PAAA's result is very close to human's marking.","PeriodicalId":402709,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of the 2019 4th International Conference on Distance Education and Learning","volume":"405 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-05-24","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115321139","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Among them, the teacher's leading MOOC represented by Khan Academy has become an emerging form that is widely welcomed. With the goal of Khan Academy, this paper proposes and implements a lightweight recording system -- QingMOOC. Its advantage lies in: 1) QingMOOC has a simple structure and easy operation with automation, which releases the work intensity of the users. 2) The custom \"video-like\" format resource not only suits distribution, but also occupies small space. 3) It is multipurpose, thus can be used in various network platforms and applications in a fragmented manner. After a small-scale application, it has proven that QingMOOC can have an easier access to MOOC production and effectively reduce the cost of it. Although the resource size is as small as one-tenth of the way it was made, the quality of it is the same as that of Khan Academy. It satisfies the needs of some teachers to produce MOOC resources regularly and much easier. Its friendly functions have been fully recognized by users.","PeriodicalId":402709,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of the 2019 4th International Conference on Distance Education and Learning","volume":"78 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-05-24","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122740268","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This paper adopts the method of literature research and based on the SECI model to construct the model of teachers' knowledge transformation in online collective lesson preparation, moreover, this paper also deeply analyzes the cyclic transformation process of teachers' knowledge between individuals and organizations with concrete examples. The results show that the members of the online collective lesson preparation community are independent and related to each other, on the one hand, members share knowledge through online communication of teaching ideas, teaching methods and teaching experience, and then put them together into a holistic organization of knowledge to transform tacit knowledge into explicit knowledge; on the other hand, teachers internalize the new explicit knowledge into tacit knowledge through practice and reflection, and promote their own professional development in the continuous iteration and update of knowledge.","PeriodicalId":402709,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of the 2019 4th International Conference on Distance Education and Learning","volume":"24 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-05-24","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126437724","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

With the continuous advancement of \"The Belt and Road Initiative\", the demand for highly skilled talents in various industries is increasing, the technology is changing rapidly, and it is more and more urgent to update knowledge. How can talents in various industries learn and update knowledge without the limitation of time and place has become an urgent problem for education in the new era, and the birth and development of distance continuing education have made all these dreams come true. The country's emphasis on educational informationization has also greatly promoted the rapid development of distance education. Xinjiang Vocational & Technical College of Communications was approved as a national-level continuing education base in 2015. The construction was successfully completed in 2018 through five aspects: mechanism construction, curriculum resources, online platform, teaching staff and scientific research. The base is mainly based on distance education, supplemented by face-to-face education. It is hoped that this paper can provide some reference for other colleges which are building continuing education bases.","PeriodicalId":402709,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of the 2019 4th International Conference on Distance Education and Learning","volume":"534 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-05-24","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133387970","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This study is an empirical case study in which a group of graduate students' participation and knowledge construction in two online discussion settings is explored and compared. We examine participants' interactions by dividing their online discussion posts into four types and investigate their knowledge construction by coding and analyzing the discourse. Results reveal that the participants tended to create more words and contents in the audio or video posts than those in the text posts. Besides, although most of knowledge construction behaviors took place in the early phases, the participants involved in the process of knowledge construction more frequently when the discussions occurred in the VoiceThread platform.","PeriodicalId":402709,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of the 2019 4th International Conference on Distance Education and Learning","volume":"95 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-05-24","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129253681","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

To gain a panoramic perspective on how information and communication technology are used in foreign language teaching, 157 papers from Computer-Assisted Foreign Language Education, the only prominent journal connecting distance education and foreign language teaching in China, were examined following Zawacki-Richter's classification framework. Content analyses were performed on distance education formats, research areas and research designs to identify the research trends and then point to the direction of future research. Research findings indicate that English teachers in China show special attention to blended learning and flipped classroom; they focus on research areas like instructional design and learners characteristics and tend to use empirical research design. However, the volume of distance education research remains small, indicating that it is still a marginalized research topic in EFL teaching. This paper contributes to the professionalism of the distance education research in EFL setting in China and proposes suggestions on forwarding this line of research.","PeriodicalId":402709,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of the 2019 4th International Conference on Distance Education and Learning","volume":"50 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-05-24","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127148881","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Next, the paper concentrates on the opportunities, challenges and policies of fulfilling distance education in foreign literature teaching in China. Specifically, lifelong education in China invites distance education to offer Chinese people diverse opportunities to make a difference, which involves those opportunities for Chinese students, teachers, institutions and society. Besides, unexpected challenges, particularly those between students and teachers, will happen, compared with the traditional campus-based teaching environment, which relate to the teaching thoughts, ways, resources and assessments. As for the policies to guarantee the effects of distance education upon foreign literature teaching in China, the paper holds that openness, fairness, democracy and love are worth observing. In summary, distance education provides a wonderful platform for foreign language teaching in China to develop on line. However, to make distance education a great channel to develop foreign language teaching, we still have a long way to go.","PeriodicalId":402709,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of the 2019 4th International Conference on Distance Education and Learning","volume":"86 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-05-24","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132126835","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

TED Talks, one of the largest and most successful online video-lecture platforms, has unique features that can attract audiences from multicultural background. Through analyzing 10 of the TED videos with the highest hits, this research aims to identify the specific features of the most popular videos in terms of 1) the rhetorical techniques applied in the video content and 2) the format of the speaker's gestures. An understanding of these rhetorical techniques and speaker gestures can provide useful and practical suggestions to other instructors who are interested in attracting their students' attention in online lecture videos. 12 rhetorical techniques were identified, among which contrast and list were the most commonly used. Moreover, using body language can emphasize the core point of the speech, keeping audience concentrated and enlightened. The most commonly used body gesture by speakers when delivering their talks was open-body gestures, including movements by hands, arms, and whole body. Therefore, if teachers want to motivate their students in online courses, in order to generate greater learning outcomes, they could design the video content embracing those two rhetorical devices and apply open-body gestures while recording the course, especially hands gestures.","PeriodicalId":402709,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of the 2019 4th International Conference on Distance Education and Learning","volume":"106 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-05-24","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116855878","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
