The interleaving technique allows reducing the weight of the total passive components by using parallel phases or channels. In this paper, the dynamic model of an Interleaved Boost DC/DC Converter (IBC) is developed via the Energy Factor (EF) and sub-sequential parameters. In a DC/DC converter, the EF relates the stored energy to its dynamic characteristics, which helps in the converter design. In addition, the developed model enables to study the dynamic behavior of the converter based on its efficiency, taking into account iron and switching losses that are not fully considered in the standard model. The EF model is compared to the switched model and standard average small-signal model in the MATLAB/Simulink environment in order to verify the modeling approach. As an example, a standard dual-loop control system is designed based on the developed models. Finally, an experimental validation has been performed to evaluate the impact of non-Ohmic losses on the converter dynamic.","PeriodicalId":395329,"journal":{"name":"2017 Twelfth International Conference on Ecological Vehicles and Renewable Energies (EVER)","volume":"27 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-04-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125382264","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The proposed method aims at generating the optimum combination of EV chargers, PV panels and local batteries, while considering: 1) EV mobility and uncertainties (PV generation, electricity price, etc.); 2) the impact on the grid; and 3) stochastic charging demand from EVs. The Erlang-loss system and the stochastic programming are adopted to model the EV mobility and uncertainties. Besides, the attribute sets as well as the clustering-based scenario generation method are proposed to generate necessary scenarios for stochastic programming. Finally, numerical experiments are conducted to validate the effectiveness of the proposed approach and show the impact of different factors on the final placement scheme.","PeriodicalId":395329,"journal":{"name":"2017 Twelfth International Conference on Ecological Vehicles and Renewable Energies (EVER)","volume":"35 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-04-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123231947","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The estimated costs for the offshore renewables sectors are presented and accessibility challenges to the offshore structures, specifically off the coast of Ireland, are discussed. One solution is put forward to use a very capable ROV, operated by a two-man team, to inspect the structures, thus reducing the need of large vessels with large crews to carry out routine inspection. The design methodology is discussed, focusing on a number of subsystems namely, shape, thrusters, power, communications and equipment, enclosures, navigational sensor suite and control system. The challenges encountered during the design of the ROV are given with market challenges, and the ROV solutions also discussed. Finally, the future work required for the completion of the ROV is presented.","PeriodicalId":395329,"journal":{"name":"2017 Twelfth International Conference on Ecological Vehicles and Renewable Energies (EVER)","volume":"16 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-04-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116355757","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

As a comprehensive parameter for the assessment of fault tolerance of the components with a number of degradation states, it is proposed to use the criterion “degree of fault tolerance”. On the basis of such a parameter the transition probabilities have been defined for the Multi-State System reliability Markov Models. The simulation and assessment results allow concluding, which power train topology complies best with the design requirements on the reliability and the future operational conditions of electrical helicopters.","PeriodicalId":395329,"journal":{"name":"2017 Twelfth International Conference on Ecological Vehicles and Renewable Energies (EVER)","volume":"33 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-04-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124851869","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In particular, the design of the inverter is more focused on the control system planning, with a particular glance on the grid synchronization problem. After the exposition of general issues concerning renewable energies and associated topics, the case of a grid tied inverter is considered and a methodology of design is sketched starting from the consideration of the DC side and also considering the power device losses, the protection issue against over voltages and over-currents, snubber circuits, heat sinks and, finally the control system for the grid synchronization. Methods and modern technologies are considered and overviewed with a particular glance to the regulation of the generated and converted energy.","PeriodicalId":395329,"journal":{"name":"2017 Twelfth International Conference on Ecological Vehicles and Renewable Energies (EVER)","volume":"3 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-04-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129134904","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

An alternative to the installation of the drivetrain on the real vehicle, is represented by the emulation of performances with a real-time controlled test bench. The paper proposes a test rig for half a bus, which is able to reproduce the real operating conditions of driving during a driving cycle. The test rig is able to emulate slope, adhesion conditions, weather conditions by suitably commanding a load generator/motor drive. The paper explains the test rig architecture and the software implemented in the real time data acquisition and control platform. The drivetrain of an electric bus is tested using the proposed test bench. The results compare the performances of the selected drivetrain for the electric bus in different road/wheel adhesion conditions.","PeriodicalId":395329,"journal":{"name":"2017 Twelfth International Conference on Ecological Vehicles and Renewable Energies (EVER)","volume":"138 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-04-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"117276073","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Among the considered PTC strategies, three novel PTC schemes based on bus-clamping techniques are developed. The proposed bus-clamping PTC (BC-PTC) schemes are founded on the basis of the clamping of each stator phase during 60°-interval in every half-cycle of the stator quantities. The performance of the four considered PTC strategies are evaluated through several simulation results at steady-state operation, with emphasis on various comparison criteria, such as: stator phase voltage and current waveforms, stator flux ripple, electromagnetic torque ripple, average total harmonic distortion, average switching frequency, average switching loss factor, and average quality factor. The simulation results reveal that the proposed BC-PTC schemes are much more efficient in terms of torque ripple, switching frequency, and switching power losses over the entire range of the stator frequency.","PeriodicalId":395329,"journal":{"name":"2017 Twelfth International Conference on Ecological Vehicles and Renewable Energies (EVER)","volume":"324 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-04-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123112249","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
