These contributed to adverse mental changes. Therefore, our main objective was to study the association of physical activity and mental health among adults in Malaysia during Covid-19. A cross-sectional study was conducted through an online survey and 1161 Malaysian adults were recruited in the study. DASS 21 and IPAQ 7 questionnaires were used to access their mental health and physical activity among adults in Malaysia. A total of 1161 participants (267 males and 894 female) were included in the study. Overall, there were participants having average depression score of 1.55 (SD=1.54) that comprises of normal (40.1%), mild (11.7%), moderate (19.7%), severe (9.8%) and extremely severe (18.6%). As for anxiety, the average is 1.96 (SD=1.65) that included normal (33.5%), mild (6.9%), moderate (20.4%), severe (8.3%) and extremely severe (30.9%). The average for stress-induced participants was 0.93 (SD=1.31) that consisted of normal (59.9%), mild (10.9%), moderate (11.7%), severe (10.9%) and extremely severe (6.5%). There was a significant association of depression, anxiety and stress levels (DASS-21) with age (p<0.001), marital status (p<0.001) and employment status (p<0.001). There was no significant association between low, moderate and high physical activity with levels of depression, anxiety and stress. Instead, there was significance association between level of depression, anxiety and stress towards sociodemographic characteristic such as age, marital status and employment status.","PeriodicalId":38537,"journal":{"name":"Malaysian Journal of Public Health Medicine","volume":"455 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-02-05","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"77522020","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The study was conducted among previously infected dental healthcare personnel (DHCP) in an academic setting to evaluate their willingness to accept vaccines and recommend them to family and patients. Logistic regression was conducted to determine significant variables associated with vaccine attitudes. Among 316 personnel 62 indicated previous infection (19.6%). Personnel who were willing to take the vaccine, or recommend it to patients, or to family were: 67.7%, 87.1%, and 85.5% respectively. Vaccine acceptance was significantly associated with vaccine awareness and number of long-term COVID-19 complications (P=.003, .033 respectively). Vaccine recommendation to family, and patients was significantly associated with vaccine awareness only (P=.005, .006 respectively). It is concluded that some previously infected academic dental personnel are unwilling to accept COVID-19 vaccines or recommend them to others. This was mainly due to lack of vaccine awareness. Low awareness of cardiovascular disease can exacerbate the situation and increase mortality due to delays in treatment. This study aims to identify knowledge of heart attack and stroke in communities in West Sumatra Province and its relation to sex, ownership of health insurance, and delaying medical treatment due to cost. This study used a cross-sectional study design, conducted in West Sumatra Province from May to October 2020. The sample in this study was 223 people aged 18-54 years who were selected by simple random sampling. Data were analyzed by univariate analysis and bivariate analysis with the Mann-Whitney test. Most of the respondents have low knowledge about heart attacks and strokes and first aid response (57.4%). There was significant mean difference in knowledge between the group of respondents who have health insurance and the group that did not. There was no significant mean difference in knowledge of respondents by sex and delaying medical care because of costs. Low of public knowledge about the symptoms of heart attack and stroke should be addressed as an important contribution to reducing mortality and morbidity due to heart attack and stroke.","PeriodicalId":38537,"journal":{"name":"Malaysian Journal of Public Health Medicine","volume":"67 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-12-21","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"78829692","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

There is limited attention to the role of wild animals as sylvatic reservoirs of the rabies virus. Thus, this systematic review aims to identify various types of animals with rabies infection, determine the prevalence of rabies virus in animals, and identify the high-risk animal that could contribute to human rabies. A systematic search was performed in the PubMed and Web of Science databases for papers on rabies in animals published from 2015 until 2019. The articles were analyzed on the prevalence of rabies infection among the animal which ranges from 0% up to 74.16%. The highest was dogs with 0.02% to 74.16% followed by fox 52.93% up to 70.1%. The other two animals namely camel and sheep/goat revealed more than 50% of rabies prevalence of 59.7% and 57.1% respectively. This study shows that the rabies prevalence in the animal varies, and dogs still have the highest prevalence as the leading causes of rabies transmission to the human. Dog and fox are the most common animal with rabies in our systematic review. Thus, domestic animals that are kept as pets especially dogs should be properly vaccinated against rabies. Meanwhile, avoidance or extra cautious while handling wildlife animals should be of primary importance.","PeriodicalId":38537,"journal":{"name":"Malaysian Journal of Public Health Medicine","volume":"120 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-12-21","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"89230287","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
