Bernal-Torres","doi":"10.4067/s0718-50062022000200129","DOIUrl":"https://doi.org/10.4067/s0718-50062022000200129","url":null,"abstract":"The present study compares the perception that university students have about working out at home (online-based) to their perceptions of working out in spaces specifically designed for that purpose. The survey assesses 399 university students that exercise daily and that were forced to exercise at home because of the implementation of COVID-19 preventive isolation measures. The results show that, in general, both women and men prefer doing exercise in places designed for that purpose rather than at home. The study is qualitative and the narrative method and the technique applied is a semi-structured interview. The results indicate that teacher training, classroom practices assessment, and teacher-student relationships are the areas in which the most significant changes occur. The changes implemented to continue training of students are oriented to follow policy. However, there is no critical nor reflective stance about the modifications. Aguilera, David Chávez","doi":"10.4067/s0718-50062022000200151","DOIUrl":"https://doi.org/10.4067/s0718-50062022000200151","url":null,"abstract":"This study aims to analyze how effective an educational robotics unit in a simulated environment is for improving primary school teachers’ understanding of basic concepts in robotics while assessing their didactic use when teaching mathematics. A descriptive and exploratory case study is developed based on a qualitative methodology. Seventeen teachers in training are assessed by using open questionnaires and learning scenarios created by the participants. The results showed that even though the teachers surveyed thought it was impossible to learn robotics concepts without a physical kit, they changed their main perceptions and managed to understand the concepts and designed activities that promote the resolution of mathematical problems. Gamboa","doi":"10.4067/s0718-50062022000200163","DOIUrl":"https://doi.org/10.4067/s0718-50062022000200163","url":null,"abstract":"The purpose of this study is to characterize the profile of students that enroll in bachelor’s science programs at the Universidad Andres Bello (UNAB) between the years 2016 and 2020 by using data collected from the Single Admission System, the Higher Education Information Service, and the Chilean National Council of Education. The results show that there are non-specialized as well as specialized bachelor’s degrees for specific careers that vary in length from two to four semesters. In the case of UNAB, most of the students enrolled were females. The weighted university selection scores with which students entered UNAB programs ranged from 450 points to 700 points, showing an increase towards highest scores in the most recent years.
