Some of the main abilities identified and discussed in this paper are interpersonal and communication skills, research methods, data analysis, project management, professional ethics, and knowledge of the social context and of the object under evaluation. In response, the Mexican heis drafted proposals to incorporate sustainability into their main functions; in this article, we analyze the approaches of those policies. We identify a common discursive strategy that seeks to permeate university policies and debates. We analyze the historical evolution of this transformation, including the new institutional expressions and their regional and differentiated character throughout Latin America. We also identify the causes fueling the process of institutional differentiation and the “universitization” of technological training. The emerging model seeks to articulate professional technological university systems into economic systems with increasingly differentiated subsystems. We designed and tested an Attitudes Towards Tutoring Scale, which demonstrated satisfactory psychometric properties when applied to a sample group of 539 students.</p><p>Overall, the students revealed slightly positive attitudes, although there were some significant differences depending on the gender or college major. The concept acquires a political nature within higher education institutions, given the lack of consensus over institutional missions and the ways in which institutional behavior should be regulated.
