Understanding this dynamic and its results emerges from the need to understand cities and their inhabitants, places more equitable and resilient to the transformations of society. In the spatial organization of cities, places with green predominance play an important role for their relationship between urban memory, quality of life departing from natural elements, the affection of the inhabitants with the place and the memorialist that is made through the relations between space and time. Thus, we understand that the quality of the urban landscape is measured by an arrangement of infrastructure elements, but also how people perceive the environment. In this study, the analysis of the perception of a public free space is measured by the identification of the elements that are understood by users as significant for the quality of the landscape of the Parque do Rio do Peixe (Videira - SC) and what experiences are felt along the existing paths in the park. The methodology of this analysis was structured according to a compendium of authors, but mainly suggested by Gehl and Svarre (2013), Lynch (1960) and Cullen (1983) and Camara (2018). At the end of the courses, unstructured interviews were conducted with approximately 150 volunteers. The results indicate preferences for areas with a predominance of natural elements, environments that provide safety sensations and elements of historical-cultural identification.","PeriodicalId":369350,"journal":{"name":"GOT - Journal of Geography and Spatial Planning","volume":"42 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-07-31","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128405006","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In the present case, we seek to know practices and perceptions about the Educational Charter through the analysis of 44 Educational Charters and by conducting interviews with municipal representatives about this instrument for territorial management. The data collected indicate that, despite the explanation about the importance of this document, it is, in many municipalities, completely out of date and, probably, of no use. There seems to be, currently, a perspective that it should contemplate other educational dynamics than those of formal education and that it is essential to contemplate its connection to other territorial management instruments in the sense of an effective implementation of municipal educational policies considering an integrated territorial vision.","PeriodicalId":369350,"journal":{"name":"GOT - Journal of Geography and Spatial Planning","volume":"28 6","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-07-31","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132063944","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This statement is corroborated by the fact that, among the guidelines proposed by the United Nations on the last Habitat Conference, there are several compact city principles. Given the importance of this model, this article presented an overview of its development, its main thinkers, the most relevant publications and the context in which the Compact City concept was developed, focusing on the importance of the thought and activity of the Townscape movement in the consolidation of the model since the end of the 1940’s. From the publications analyzed, one can recognize two phases in the concept’s evolution: a formative period (1940-1970), characterized by the search for an alternative to the postwar urban models; and a second moment (since the 1980’s), when the concept took its current form and started to be proposed as an answer to environmental problems and, secondarily, to other challenges of contemporary urbanization.","PeriodicalId":369350,"journal":{"name":"GOT - Journal of Geography and Spatial Planning","volume":"43 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-07-31","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127690895","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This is because it becomes possible to diagnose, evaluate and promote public policies that are aligned with the demands, potentials and expectations for a given ecosystem. Given this, and the growing trend in the use of geotechnologies, this study sought to assess the panorama of research that has possibly studied landscape metrics applied to the assessment of the provision of ecosystem services in an integrated manner. To this end, a bibliometric analysis was carried out on the Scopus Platform using the following keywords: 'valuation of ecosystem services' and 'landscape metrics'. It was found that this topic is not yet complacent; and countries like the United Kingdom, China, Germany, Australia, Spain and the Netherlands have led the research. Especially for forest ecosystems, the gaps are still large, which demands research efforts to consolidate the best and provide solid knowledge bases for an effective management of these sensitive and highly specialized areas for humanity.","PeriodicalId":369350,"journal":{"name":"GOT - Journal of Geography and Spatial Planning","volume":"10 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-07-31","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121126090","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

However, despite the current pattern observed in the peri-urban areas of most Brazilian cities, the planning system implemented does not establish models for investigating conflicts arising from the production of urban space. To expand the forms of assessment and control of environmental impacts, a theoretical-methodological framework is presented for assessing the performance of the space produced in urban areas of environmental preservation. The indicators of that framework are important measures to identify internal discrepancies to the system, showing its heterogeneity. The present study aimed to assess the performance of the Master Plan for Urban Development of the city of Pelotas, RS, Brazil in the production of space in areas of Environmental Preservation. The investigation considered socio-spatial, socioenvironmental and socio-economic aspects. The proposed analysis uses multivariate statistical analysis to classify the space produced. The study is useful in the production of a framework for monitoring and managing the current and future panorama of development in urban environmental preservation areas.","PeriodicalId":369350,"journal":{"name":"GOT - Journal of Geography and Spatial Planning","volume":"221 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-12-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115654594","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The mapping of land use, through photointerpretation of images RapidEye, allowed to verify that the anthropized Caatinga, the Caatinga anthropized park and Agriculture occupy more than half of the region and show decline of vegetation resilience. These are areas of natural pastures that support extensive herds whose overgrazing generates damage and expands areas of environmental degradation. As consequence, the caatingas support capacity declines and the bare soils, exposed to erosion, reach wide extensions. In these conditions, desertification cells and core are observed.","PeriodicalId":369350,"journal":{"name":"GOT - Journal of Geography and Spatial Planning","volume":"34 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-12-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129385007","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Changes in natural components can result in a loss of system functionality and disruption of its state of balance, which can be assessed through environmental fragility. In this sense, the present work aimed to identify and evaluate the areas with the highest and lowest degree of Potential Fragility and Emerging Fragility, in a delimitation of the influence area of the Espora Hydroelectric Power Plant (HPP) located on the border of the municipalities of Serranópolis and Aporé/GO, Brazil . The methodological procedure adopted is that of environmental fragility through the relationship between soil factors, declivity, geology/geomorphology, precipitation and land use. As a result, the predominance of Laterite, sandy and medium texture soils was detected in lands that went from flat to wavy, occupied by extensive pastures and monoculture. The study area was classified for potential fragility in 3.1% - very low, 46.8% - low, 49.5% - average and 0.6 as high potential fragility based on the relationship of soil, slope and climate factors. However, the emerging fragility showed that the use of land had a significant impact on the rates, mainly in agricultural areas, increasing the fragility, characterized in 19.9 - low, 42.4% - average, 17.6 - high fragility. It was noted also that very low emergent fragility increased due to the presence of vegetation cover highlighted in the land use map.","PeriodicalId":369350,"journal":{"name":"GOT - Journal of Geography and Spatial Planning","volume":"14 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-12-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128479360","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The gain of space in the national matrix enabled the wind race, which in turn caused socio-environmental problems as a result of the installation of wind farms. In this direction, this research aimed to identify the changes that occurred in the fishing community of São Cristóvão, located in the municipality of Areia Branca, Rio Grande do Norte (RN), Brazil, from the introduction of the wind farm. A mixed approach was adopted and for data collection, on-site visits associated with photographic record analysis, semi-structured questionnaire applications with open and closed questions were used, cataloged and analyzed with the aid of the Statistical Package for the Social program Sciences (SPSS) version 20.0. 80 (eighty people) participated in the study. As a result, it was possible to identify that the wind farm installation process took place without significant community participation and the absence of an in-depth dialogue between the company and the population located in the vicinity of the wind farm. It was found that the impact on the local economy, after the installation of the enterprise is insignificant, according to the interviewees. It was found that socioenvironmental conflicts related to land tenure and faced with these issues, the community expresses distrust in relation to wind farms in the region.","PeriodicalId":369350,"journal":{"name":"GOT - Journal of Geography and Spatial Planning","volume":"101 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-12-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126056145","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
