Thus, this study had the objective of evaluating the performance of the Soil and Water Assessment Tool (SWAT) model in the flow simulation in the Ribeirão Taquaruçu Hydrographic Basin. Flow data from two fluviometric stations were used from April 2013 to August 2015. The results of the sensitivity analysis indicated that the most influential parameters are the SOL_K (saturated hydraulic conductivity of the soil) and CN2 (curve number for the condition II). The Nash-Sutcliffe (NSE) objective functions and the determination coefficient (R2) indicated, in the calibration period, the following values: -0.05 and 0.55 (sub-basin 1); 0.51 (sub-basin 3), respectively. In the validation period, the following results were presented for NSE and R2: 0.44 and 0.54 (sub-basin 1); 0.24 and 0.29 (sub-basin 3), in that order. In Argentina, the Espinal ecoregion is one of the most affected, with only a few relics remaining. The province of Córdoba is one of the largest agricultural producers, which led to the modification of natural ecosystems, losing the environmental services they provide. This happens in the city of Villa María and especially in its peri-urban territory. The identification and analysis of the fragmentation of the ecosystem structures in this peri-urban area provide a different way of identifying the new ecosystem structures to be considered in the territorial planning of medium or small cities. Six ecosystemic structures (patches) were identified: Residual Ecosystems, Neoecosystems, Neosols, Neohumedales, Surface Runoff Neoredes, and Geophagy. It's processing through a Geographic Information System allowed mapping the survey results and identifying the environmental services that they provide. The fieldwork allowed to show the richness and diversity present; however, their distance and size denote the vulnerability of the patches. The importance of the structures in terms of the provision of services demands the need to consolidate political strategies in municipal management aimed at protecting the patches.","PeriodicalId":369350,"journal":{"name":"GOT - Journal of Geography and Spatial Planning","volume":"15 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-06-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133576067","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Thus the principles of sustainability have been incorporated into the behavior and procedures of the agents involved in the activity in order to mitigate the negative effects. The hotel sector, an active part in this process, is increasingly demanding a conscientious attitude, as well as the adoption of measures and standards of conduct that seek to reduce its socio-environmental impacts. This work proposes to evaluate sustainability practices in the environmental, economic and social dimensions, as well as their degree of applicability, by the hotel sector in the municipality of Bragança, northeast of Trás-os-Montes, from the data collected through a questionnaire survey to managers of all tourist accommodation units. An exploratory and descriptive statistical analysis was performed using the SPSS statistical analysis program. The results revealed a moderate level of hotel sustainability, suggesting that the adoption of sustainable practices is still incipient and that much still remains to be done for the hotels in Bragança to contribute effectively to sustainable tourism. Although this work is restricted to a small territory it opens a window of opportunity to replicate this methodology, in other territories or even at national level, including a larger number of units as well as more specific and adapted indicators.","PeriodicalId":369350,"journal":{"name":"GOT - Journal of Geography and Spatial Planning","volume":"60 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-06-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130654506","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

It is assumed that the new real estate products redefine the processes of socio-spatial segregation, showing the dispersion of the classes of middle and high income for peripheral areas, traditionally occupied by the low-income population. The reframing of the periphery denotes the complexification of the intra-urban socio-spatial structure, indicating the emergence of new patterns of socio-spatial segregation, superimposed on the traditional center-periphery model, constituted in the 20th century. In this context, it is argued that it is possible to recognize ongoing common processes, characterized by significant disruptions with the previous logic of production of intra-urban space.","PeriodicalId":369350,"journal":{"name":"GOT - Journal of Geography and Spatial Planning","volume":"40 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-06-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116115493","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The concept of “flexible planning” is presented to explain the type of planning practiced today and to describe the PE instrument as outlined in the Porto Alegre Master Plan. In the article, the PE normative framework is presented, followed by a statistical and socio-spatial description of the projects undertaken. The patterns regarding the socioeconomic and urban requirements are presented, as well as the community contributions or benefits that resulted from these projects. The research reveals that, rather than being exceptions, Special Projects have become the norm for large developments in Porto Alegre, resulting in a shock wave of large real estate developments in the city.","PeriodicalId":369350,"journal":{"name":"GOT - Journal of Geography and Spatial Planning","volume":"9 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-06-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129843029","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This paper aims at evaluating the usefulness of the SAD-IPH mathematical model to simulate water demand scenarios in the Ribeirão Taquaruçu basin, located in the city of Palmas, state of Tocantins. Simulations provided by the SAD-IPH model indicate that the balance between water availability and demand is already critical in some parts of the basin, especially during the dry season, and the situation worsens over time. These results clearly suggest the local water utility needs to search for new water sources to meet the growing demand, mainly during the dry season. Results show the mathematical tool used in the analysis provides new and valuable information to decision makers (water resources institutions and river basin committees), potentially reducing the risk of making bad decisions. Additionally, as a water security measure, it is crucial to enforce the preservation of sensitive areas in the watershed because there is already an intense occupation in preserved areas next to water sources, a process that is likely to result in water yield reduction, which combined with an increase in the water demand over time, will compromise water security.","PeriodicalId":369350,"journal":{"name":"GOT - Journal of Geography and Spatial Planning","volume":"100 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-06-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126979019","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
