The study was implemented in Remedial English Communication course at Birzeit University / Palestine. The quasi-experimental approach was employed on one experimental group (EG) involving twenty male and female students and another control group (CG) comprised twenty- five students. A reading comprehension pre-test was administered to determine the participants’ level before the program. The experimental group received a five-week intervention program using the jigsaw strategy, while the traditional method was utilized to teach the control group. Both groups were taught by the researcher to control the variables of the study. A post-test was administered after the intervention to find whether there was any improvement in the groups’ performance. The SPSS and t-test results revealed that there was statistically significant difference between the two groups in favor of the experimental group.","PeriodicalId":366273,"journal":{"name":"Ricerche di Pedagogia e Didattica. The second half of the paper reports the results of research conducted through narrative interviews of a sample of female university students who made the unconventional decision to enroll in degree programs in which they are a minority (engineering, computer science, etc.). In this contribution we present a study about the relations between emotions towards mathematics and its teaching of pre-service teacher and their self-efficacy toward mathematics teaching. The paper describes an observational-correlational research on a sample of students enrolled in the “Scienze della Formazione Primaria” master degree. Results show the existence of a strong correlation between emotions towards mathematics and its teaching and the self-efficacy related to this subject. Hence, data are coherent with the idea of working on emotions of future teachers towards mathematics and its teaching to influence their self-efficacy. E' in questa prospettiva che nel presente studio a carattere esplorativo si intende valutare l’apporto delle immagini in un ambito di intervento diverso, riferito all’apprendimento di L2 e in particolare alla comprensione orale. Il problema risulta rilevante dal momento che spesso l'apprendimento della L2 avviene prevalentemente attraverso la forma scritta per cui la comprensione del parlato risulta difficile e frasi pronunciate oralmente spesso non vengono comprese anche se costituite da parole note. D’altra parte, la letteratura che affronta specificatamente l’argomento si presenta carente proprio in relazione alle proprieta che gli stimoli devono avere per facilitare la comprensione. Sono stati pertanto condotti tre esperimenti relativi alla scelta, posizionamento ed eventuale decomposizione di immagini fisse a supporto della comprensione di frasi pronunciate oralmente in L2. I risultati indicano che i benefici maggiori della presentazione visiva si verificano quando le immagini: (a) sono semplici; (b) precedono la frase; (c) vengono presentate decomposte in parti significative, mentre non e risultato importante l'ordine di presentazione delle parti.","PeriodicalId":366273,"journal":{"name":"Ricerche di Pedagogia e Didattica. It focuses on realistically depicted places and explores how their representation changes during a period of 65 years. A comparative content analysis focuses on visual representations of home, school, street and other spaces, the way they are presented as a child’s space of belonging and how they are informed with specific meanings. The aim of the study is to establish the image of child inscribed in the representations of lived spaces during the observed period and to reveal how the child’s role changes in relationship with the society. A diachronic analysis reveals a general shift in focus from outside towards inside spaces and from public towards private places. This is explained through changes in the ideological and political contexts in different periods of Croatian history and interpreted as a shift from collectivism as a dominant social value after WWII, towards re-establishing family values and individual identity. In the process, open didacticism gives way to an acknowledgment of the child’s individual, cultural and literary needs.","PeriodicalId":366273,"journal":{"name":"Ricerche di Pedagogia e Didattica.
