Polak, Barbara Kegl
Introduction: Chronic inflammatory bowel disease is a chronic lifelong disease\u0000\u0000with various triggers, intermediate longer and shorter remissions. Parents\u0000\u0000need to know what kind of nutrition the child with chronic inflammatory bowel\u0000\u0000disease needs because they must be able to make the right decisions regarding\u0000\u0000the child‘s diet. The right choice of diet gives a child enough energy in their daily\u0000\u0000and enables the quality life. They must enjoy a healthy balanced diet so that\u0000\u0000they receive all the nutrients the body needs. In our work, we presented chronic\u0000\u0000inflammatory bowel disease in children and parents’ assessment of the child’s\u0000\u0000quality of life.\u0000\u0000Methods: We chose a quantitative methodology to establish the impact of diet\u0000\u0000on the quality of life of the child with chronic inflammatory bowel disease. To\u0000\u0000describe and define the problem, we used a descriptive method. A structured\u0000\u0000measurement instrument was based on a review of the relevant foreign and\u0000\u0000domestic literature. Statistical data analysis was performed using descriptive\u0000\u0000and inferential statistics. Data were collected by a non-random and occasional\u0000\u0000sampling survey.\u0000\u0000Results: We found that most children whose parents participated in this research\u0000\u0000have Crohn’s disease (n = 20; 50%) and ulcerative colitis (n = 16; 40%).\u0000\u0000The type of food that is harmful to the child is fatty food (n = 33; 83%), followed\u0000\u0000by spicy food (n = 32; 80%) and acidic food (n = 10; 25%). According to the parents’\u0000\u0000assessment, children with chronic inflammatory bowel disease have good\u0000\u0000(n = 22; 55%) health. We found that physicians provide parents with the most\u0000\u0000necessary nutrition information. Through evaluation of the parents, we found\u0000\u0000that there is no statistically significant correlation between the general assessment\u0000\u0000of a child’s health and the type of chronic inflammatory bowel disease\u0000\u0000(X² (2) = 5.925, p = 0.052). Also, there is no statistically significant correlation\u0000\u0000between the eating pattern and parents ’assessment of their child’s quality of\u0000\u0000life (U = 38.00, p. = 1.00).\u0000\u0000Discussion: The health care providers have an important role to play in giving\u0000\u0000appropriate information to parents to ensure the quality of life of the child. She\u0000\u0000teaches parents and children about living with chronic inflammatory bowel disease\u0000\u0000and emphasizes the importance of nutrition, which greatly contributes to\u0000\u0000a better quality of life.

The risk of this disease during life depends on many factors such as age, diet, physical activity, personal and family predisposition. Several preventive measures can reduce the number of colorectal cancer patients. First of all, the regular screening which allows the detection of precancerous polyps or cancer in the early stage and their successful surgical removal. The purpose of this paper is to highlight the importance of screening programs as a preventive measure for the early detection of colorectal cancer and to reduce the morbidity and mortality of this disease. The strategy for improving the early detection of colorectal cancer also implies availability of useful information about the importance of screening programs for everyone as well as educating\u0000health care staff about the program itself.\u0000Number of newly registered colorectal cancer cases in 2009 in the Republic North Macedonia stands at 547 with a rate of 26.7 compared to 2018 with 839 newly registered cases with a rate of 40.4 which clearly indicates an increasing trend of colorectal cancer. Multidisciplinary approach to early detection of colorectal cancer, continuity of Program funding and quality of services will lead to reduction of morbidity and mortality of this type of cancer.
