With over 26,000 active geocaches, whose metadata can be read out by an open web API, it is also ideally suited for a teaching example of dealing with user-generated geodata. Based on that motivation, this contribution describes a large-scale analysis of geocaching data that can be followed by advanced learners in GIS and data science, but also by interested laypersons. Open Educational Resources for this are available on the OpenGeoEdu learning platform. The results of the analysis show how geocaching activities are distributed in the D-A-CH-LI-area and how the leisure sport relates to demographic and environmental factors.","PeriodicalId":36308,"journal":{"name":"AGIT- Journal fur Angewandte Geoinformatik","volume":"1 1","pages":"58-69"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"85656767","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The support of planning and execution processes of such subsurface operations is the primary scope of the research project NIKE of the Austrian Armed Forces in close cooperation with the Montanuniversität Leoben’s “Zentrum am Berg”. To merge data from building information modeling and functionalities of virtual reality-based 3D visualisation is one important aspect of the NIKE project. Thus 3D visualisation methods translate complex spatial situations to virtual reality scenes that are easy to comprehend and support a successful mission accomplishment.","PeriodicalId":36308,"journal":{"name":"AGIT- Journal fur Angewandte Geoinformatik","volume":"34 1","pages":"126-131"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"84027888","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Increasing traffic volume causes congestions and slow-moving traffic. Further consequences are environmental pollution principally due to particulates and nitrous oxides. Based on georeferenced data approaches towards an environmentally compatible traffic management with less negative impact on inhabitants are designed. By means of these data, traffic management strategies are developed and prototypically implemented in the municipalities involved. Specific traffic management measures enable to lessen the negative effects of urban traffic.","PeriodicalId":36308,"journal":{"name":"AGIT- Journal fur Angewandte Geoinformatik","volume":"22 1","pages":"296-305"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"72708225","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In order to make the counter-argument of longer travel times, which is often mentioned here, measurable, a GPS-based app is developed with dataRide. The implemented algorithm evaluates the driven speed profile and calculates for all sections of the journey, which are driven at higher speed, an additional time share, which would be necessary to cover the same distance at a speed of 130 km/h. The position data is filtered for a high quality of the calculations. The filters applied are intended to exclude inferior quality positions from processing. The evaluation of first test drives showed that a time saving is possible, whereby the subjective perception usually estimates a noticeably higher time gain compared to the objective measurement. On longer motorway sections, which take place outside rush hours, a noticeable time saving can be achieved by high speeds. For the majority of daily trips (e. g. commuters) this effect is limited to a few minutes or even seconds. The App aims at determining the personal time savings in relation to the individual driving behaviour of individual road users and does not provide any generally valid statements. By making the actual time saved visible, the supposed restriction of a speed limit is made conscious.","PeriodicalId":36308,"journal":{"name":"AGIT- Journal fur Angewandte Geoinformatik","volume":"165 1","pages":"280-289"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"76900559","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

ITG simply explained are objects (points, lines, polygons) which carry next to the geometry information, Meta information regarding origin, purpose, accuracy, creation, usability when being created (surveyed). These additional data information can subsequently be integrated into the organisations’ IT system in an automated manner.","PeriodicalId":36308,"journal":{"name":"AGIT- Journal fur Angewandte Geoinformatik","volume":"49 1","pages":"2-12"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"83388887","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

However, the input devices available for this purpose cannot be used equally by all participants in such processes and can impede dynamic group processes. A new technology for human-machine interaction has been developed and tested for participatory workshops on the development of regional expansion targets for renewable energy. By means of object recognition by evaluating a real-time video stream, simple physical game tokens can be used to develop regional renewable energy futures on an interactive GIS-based game board. The technology has been tested in workshops and can be applied to many spatial participatory planning and learning processes by using free data and open source software.","PeriodicalId":36308,"journal":{"name":"AGIT- Journal fur Angewandte Geoinformatik","volume":"51 1","pages":"13-22"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"75144858","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
