This study uses data from smartphone accelerometers and a k-means++ algorithm to determine the quality of road sections. Results of conventional approaches of quality assessment based on the comparison with reference data can thus not be applied to the entire dataset. Hence, the completeness of OSM data is usually analysed using intrinsic methods. Here, we propose a novel approach that consists in the generation of reference data via a regression model. Using demographic and socio-economic raster datasets and sporadically available GTFS data, the number of local bus routes is predicted on the cells of a global hexagon grid. These sensors are primarily designed to internally control miscellaneous comfort and safety functions but are also offering potential to be used externally in cross-sectoral applications, such as water management use cases. At this point, the general suitability of vehicle sensor data for realtime agglomeration of precipitation information using the example of Emscher and Lippe region is one of the key issues of the research project mobileVIEW. A major challenge in implementation in order to be able to conduct spatio-temporal adjustments of precipitation data is to derive valid precipitation values from vehicle sensor measurements. For this purpose, a decision tree trained with historical precipitation radar data is used to derive precipitation intensities from a combination of rain related measurements with additional environmental values based on the position of the vehicle. The phases of the digital age and the contributions GI processing can make for a train ride are opposed. Full reconstruction as a 3D-model becomes increasingly time-consuming, while volumetric scanning is prone to scanning artefacts. In this paper we present a method based on linked monoand stereo-panoramas, using as an example the botanical garden of Rostock. In addition to the basics of capture and presentation of these panoramas, we discuss how to include further multimedia content and how to guide user navigation. A 3D basemap is the basis for different 3D map applications and can be used for overlays, analyzes or for realistic mapping of the entire environment. However, many of the available basemaps are currently available in 2D only. In this article, we present strategies for converting the freely available basemap.at from 2D to 3D. Therefore, the technical implementation and some design decisions for the digital terrain model (DTM), point data, line data and polygon data are described in more detail.
