Therefore, this model proposes to combine the strengths of the PSRC model and IEC standards to verify, select, and validate current transformers used in power systems as the primary element that will deliver information to protection relays. EMTP/ATP was used as simulation platform through its ability to create programming blocks (Models function) and use TACS functions. With the digital model, it is possible to capture information of power system and deliver the results to analyze waveforms at the output of a current transformer. It is also possible to verify important sensitivities which are shown in the last part of the document.","PeriodicalId":359559,"journal":{"name":"2010 IEEE ANDESCON","volume":"5 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2010-11-11","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115852872","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The paper carries out the design of the power converter, according to its power and voltage levels. Then, is discussed the design of both control strategies. For the H∞ controller synthesis is discussed the selection of the weight functions and the implication in the close loop system. For the PID controller, is discussed the PID pole-zero placement that secures the close loop system behavior, according to bandwidth and offset requirements. It was found that although the H∞ controller has some problems with the disturbance rejection from variations of the power source and high increments in the load, the amount of energy required by the controller and the dynamical performance of the output voltage against load or power source variation shows a better performance compared with the cascade PID controller, which uses a current sensor for the strategy that can be avoided with a proper H∞ controller or other loop-shaping based controller design.","PeriodicalId":359559,"journal":{"name":"2010 IEEE ANDESCON","volume":"98 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2010-11-11","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122888171","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The hybrid solution is obtained from a general convex formulation for which the existence of the optimal solution is guaranteed. We show that the synthesis of the optimal trajectories yields a partition of the state space with respect to the mode. The design uses singular arcs which are obtained through an algebraic condition. In order to test the performance of the control law, an academical buck converter is taken as an example with a quadratic and a minimum time criteria.","PeriodicalId":359559,"journal":{"name":"2010 IEEE ANDESCON","volume":"17 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2010-11-11","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131781291","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The purpose of this work is to present a novel way to treat this aspect, resulting in the development of expressions with direct application in the design of the radiobase receiving part of modern mobile radio systems. The technique to be described here can be considered as an application of the theory of SIMO (Single Input Multiple Output) systems of order two, since this model assumes two antenas with orthogonal polarizations for the signal reception. It is also considered in this work systems operating in fast fading conditions. The results of simulations contribute to justify the theory here presented.","PeriodicalId":359559,"journal":{"name":"2010 IEEE ANDESCON","volume":"2 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2010-11-11","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"134551188","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
