This study aims to describe the difficulty of surviving due to environmental damage. Enviromental damage can be overcome by blue economy and green economy,especially in economic improvement and environmental protection. The data sources used in this research are four short stories related to the environment. By using a qualitative descriptive method, the following things were found. The description of environmental damage is depicted through narrative quotes and dialogues from the characters:(1) the difficulty of finding the three-colored bahar root as a drug, (2) the scarcity of clean water sources due to pollution and construction building, (3) the decline in crop yields due to changes in weather, and (4) the ancestral lands no longer able to give life. Second, the survival difficulties of the characters which are described through the narrative quotes and dialogues of the characters. Descriptions of difficulties in survival are (1) difficulties to find food to sustain life in coastal communities, (2) difficulties to find food to the point of sacrificing lives, (3) difficulties to find clean water sources, (4) rubber plantations that are unable to support farmers and their families, (5) the occurrence of crime, and (6) migration some people for a better life. Third, the importance of green economy and blue economy in overcoming the life difficulties of the characters in short stories and reducing environmental damage.AbstrakPenelitian ini mengkaji kerusakan lingkungan dalam karya sastra yang memengaruhi kehidupan masyarakat. Penelitian ini bertujuan mendeskripsikan sulitnya bertahan hidup akibat kerusakan lingkungan. Kerusakan lingkungan dapat diatasi dengan blue economy dan green economy,khususnya dalam peningkatan ekonomi dan pelindungan lingkungan. Sumber data yang digunakan dalam penelitian adalah empat cerpen yang berkaitan dengan lingkungan. Dengan menggunakan metode deskriptif kualitatif, ditemukan hal-hal berikut. Pertama, gambaran kerusakan lingkungan digambarkan melalui kutipan narasi dan dialog para tokoh. Gambaran kerusakan lingkungan meliputi (1) sulitnya menemukan akar bahar tiga warna sebagai obat, (2) langkanya sumber air bersih akibat pencemaran dan pembangunan gedung, (3) menurunnya hasil panen akibat adanya perubahan cuaca, dan (4) tanah leluhur yang sudah tidak mampu memberikan kehidupan. Kedua, kesulitan bertahan hidup para tokoh yang digambarkan melalui kutipan narasi dan dialognya. Gambaran kesulitan bertahan hidup meliputi (1) sulit mencari makanan untuk menyambung hidup masyarakat pesisir, (2) sulitnya mencari makan hingga mengorbankan nyawa, (3) sulitnya menemukan sumber air bersih, (4) perkebunan karet yang tidak mampu menghidupi petani dan keluarganya, (5) terjadinya kriminalitas, dan (6) perantauan beberapa orang untuk mencari kehidupan yang lebih baik. This research is a qualitative descriptive study that helps researchers to have a thorough analysis of the data. Linguistic landscape and visual semiotics theories proposed by Landry and Bourhis, Kress and van Leeuwen, and Scollon and Scollon are applied to discuss the results. The visual semiotics theory is specified for only composition, especially given and new composition. The study finds that there are 687 data with 957 compositions of given-new, ideal-real, and center-margin information. Among them are 54 (6%) given compositions and 221 (23%) new compositions. It indicates that the business owners in Padang mostly use English as a subordinate language on the signboard. The business owners use English on the signboards to give new information to promote their stores. Hopefully, this research can give more contributions to the linguistic landscape in Padang. It also can broaden the readers’ horizons about the language in public spaces, especially the language used in business areas.AbstrakPenelitian ini bertujuan mengungkap penggambaran bahasa Inggris pada papan nama bisnis di beberapa pusat bisnis di Padang. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian deskriptif kualitatif yang membantu peneliti untuk melakukan analisis data secara mendalam. Teori lanskap linguistik dan semiotika visual oleh Landry dan Bourhis, Kress dan van Leeuwen, dan Scollon dan Scollon diterapkan untuk membahas hasil penelitian. Teori semiotika visual dikhususkan hanya untuk komposisi, terutama komposisi ‘given’ dan komposisi ‘new’. Penelitian ini menemukan bahwa ada 687 data dengan 957 komposisi informasi yang given-new, ideal-real, dan center-margin. Diantaranya, terdapat 54 (6%) komposisi given dan 221 (23%) komposisi new. Hal ini menunjukkan bahwa pemilik bisnis di Padang sebagian besar menggunakan bahasa Inggris sebagai bahasa pelengkap pada papan nama. Pemilik usaha menggunakan bahasa Inggris pada papan nama untuk memberikan informasi baru untuk mempromosikan toko mereka. Diharapkan penelitian ini dapat menambah kontribusi penelitian lanskap linguistik di kota Padang. The animated films Upin-Ipin are popular for children in Indonesian society. This film is considered to be interesting because it is a foreign animated film featuring Indonesian children's characters. Susanti is presented as a representation of Indonesian children in a multicultural society. Seeing this phenomenon, the researcher aims to further explore Susanti’s utterance in the context of politeness. This study focuses on examining Susanti's politeness based on Leech's politeness principles which consists of six maxims. The qualitative method used in this study utilizes a pragmatic approach as an analytical tool. The research data are utterances of Susanti which were collected from eight events in six episodes of the film. The data source was the six episodes uploaded by Les'copaqe YouTube channel. The results of the study show that Susanti's utterances tens to represent the maxim of wisdom. These results show that Susanti’s utterances represented the politeness of Indonesian children, especially in the preschool context, which was in accordance with the background of the character of Susanti. AbstrakTujuan penelitian ini adalah menginvestigasi kesantunan anak Indonesia melalui tuturan yang direpresentasikan oleh tokoh Susanti dalam film animasi Upin dan Ipin. Film animasi Upin dan Ipin merupakan salah satu film animasi anak yang populer di masyarakat Indonesia. Film ini dikatakan menarik karena menjadi salah satu film animasi asing yang memunculkan karakter anak Indonesia. Tokoh Susanti dihadirkan sebagai representasi anak Indonesia dalam masyarakat multikultural. Melihat fenomena itu, penulis menelaah lebih lanjut tuturan tokoh Susanti dalam konteks kesantunan. Secara khusus, penelitian ini berfokus pada kesantunan tokoh Susanti berdasarkan prinsip kesantunan Leech yang terdiri atas enam maksim. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah kualitatif dengan memanfaatkan pendekatan pragmatik. Data penelitian adalah tuturan tokoh Susanti yang ditemukan dari delapan peristiwa di enam episode film Upin dan Ipintersebut. Sumber data diambil dari kanal Youtube @lescopaque. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan, dari delapan peristiwa tutur tokoh Susanti, tuturan tokoh Susanti cenderung didominasi oleh maksim kebijaksanaan. This research uses literary sociology theory with text analysis to identify the factors of the negotiation of social sanctions against former PKI sympathizers in the novel. The results show that (1) Pegaten Village community is thick with rural life and Javanese philosophy inherent in each individual; (2) Javanese philosophy described in the novel includes kamanungsan, tepa slira, sikap perwira, aja dumeh, manungaling kawula gusti, and budi luhur, (3) negotiation of social sanctions materialized in the novel due to Javanese cultural values in life adopted by the local community. Instead of punishing former PKI sympathizers, Pegaten villagers gave Karman the opportunity to make a mosque dome as a form of acceptance of one's dark past. AbstrakPenelitian ini mengkaji negosiasi atas sanksi sosial terhadap tokoh utama Karman dalam novel Kubah karya Ahmad Tohari. Penelitian ini menggunakan teori sosiologi sastra dengan analisis teks untuk mengidentifikasi faktor adanya negosiasi sanksi sosial terhadap eks simpatisan PKI dalam novel. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa (1) masyarakat Desa Pegaten kental akan kehidupan perdesaan dan falsafah Jawa yang melekat dalam diri tiap individu; (2) falsafah Jawa yang digambarkan dalam novel Kubah meliputi kamanungsan, tepa slira, sikap perwira, aja dumeh, manungaling kawula gusti dan budi luhur, (3) negosiasi atas sanksi sosial terwujud dalam novel Kubah disebabkan oleh nilai-nilai kebudayaan Jawa dalam berkehidupan yang dianut oleh masyarakat setempat. This study is descriptive-qualitative in nature. Data were collected using the documentation method through the note-taking technique, namely by listening to reports about the Taliban on the CNN Indonesia, Tribunnews.com, and Kompas.com websites, then recording the findings and analyzing them by adopting the Pan and Kosicki analysis model. The results of the study show that those three online media arrange news information in an inverted pyramid structure with an orderly and complete scheme. The comparison of those media can be seen in the theme of the news that is presented about the Taliban, including the impact or consequences of the rule of the Taliban in Afghanistan, the policies or system of the Taliban government in Afghanistan, and the efforts made by the Taliban to have their government recognized immediately. The framing results from those media eventually resulted in a different direction of view, including CNN Indonesia wanting to give a negative view of the Taliban, Tribunnews.com indirectly directing that the Taliban is still a radical group with cruel rules, and Kompas.com being a media that runs its media with balance.Abstrak Penelitian ini mendeskripsikan bagaimana CNN Indonesia, Tribunnews.com, dan Kompas.com menyusun liputan mereka tentang Taliban di Indonesia. Penelitian ini berjenis kualitatif deskriptif. Data dikumpulkan dengan menggunakan metode dokumentasi melalui teknik simak catat, yaitu mendengarkan laporan tentang Taliban di laman CNN Indonesia, Tribunnews.com, dan Kompas.com, kemudian mencatat temuan data dan dianalisis dengan mengadopsi model analisis Pan dan Kosicki. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa ketiga media daring tersebut menyusun informasi berita dengan struktur piramida terbalik dengan skema yang disusun secara teratur dan lengkap. Perbandingan ketiga media daring tersebut tampak pada tema pemberitaan yang dibawakan mengenai Taliban, di antaranya dampak atau akibat dari kekuasaan Taliban di Afghanistan, kebijakan atau sistem pemerintahan Taliban di Afghanistan dan upaya yang dilakukan Taliban agar pemerintahannya segera diakui. Hasil framing dari ketiga media massa itu pun akhirnya menghasilkan perbedaan arah pandangan. This research decided to apply a qualitative method, specifically in the form of a case study. Meanwhile, the researchers chose observation through social media, namely Instagram, as the data collection process. The data analysis consists of three stages, such as reduction, presentation, and conclusion. The researchers found that the female influencers use speech features are intensifier, emphatic stress, tag question, rising intonation, empty adjectives, specialized, hypercorrect grammar, super polite forms, avoidance of strong swear, and one form that belongs to the men known as command and directive. Meanwhile, the speech features employed by the men are command and directive, swearing and taboo words, compliments, and theme, and three forms of speech feature that belong to women, which are intensifier, empty adjective, and emphatic stress. The finding of this study is that both genders are not constantly with their own speech features. Both genders also applied speech features that belong to the opposite gender while doing promotion, although the language features of each gender dominate the respective results. AbstrakPenelitian ini bertujuan mengidentifikasi fitur tuturan yang digunakan oleh influencer pria dan wanita saat melakukan promosi makanan. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode kualitatif, khususnya dalam bentuk studi kasus. Penulis memilih observasi melalui salah satu media sosial, yakni Instagram, pada proses pengumpulan data. Proses analisis data terdiri atas tiga tahap, yaitu reduksi, penyajian, dan penarikan simpulan. Penulis menemukan bahwa para influencer wanita menggunakan fitur ucapan yang intensif, penekanan tegas, tanda pertanyaan, intonasi tinggi, kata sifat kosong, kata khusus, tata bahasa yang berlebihan, bentuk sangat sopan, menghindari umpatan yang kuat, dan satu bentuk milik pria yang dikenal sebagai perintah dan direktif. Sementara itu, ciri-ciri tuturan yang digunakan oleh influencer laki-laki adalah tuturan perintah dan direktif, umpatan dan kata-kata tabu, pujian, dan tema, serta tiga bentuk tuturan yang dimiliki wanita, yaitu intensifier, kata sifat kosong, dan tekanan empatik. Temuan dari penelitian ini adalah bahwa kedua jenis influencer tidak selalu memiliki fitur bicara mereka sendiri. Mereka juga menerapkan fitur bicara milik lawan jenis saat melakukan promosi meskipun hasilnya didominasi oleh ciri fitur bahasa pada masing-masing gender. The novel tells the life of colonial society in the Dutch East Indies era. This study examines the colonial discourse and resistance in the novel with a postcolonial approach. The colonial discourse in question is discrimination, racial superiority, and racism. Forms of resistance in question are stereotype, mimicry, ambivalence, and hybridity. The method used is descriptive qualitative. As a result, the novel contains colonial discourses and resistance. Acts of racial superiority and racism are shown in scenes of harsh treatment of natives, and different treatment before the law. The mimicry is shown in the imitation of the way of dressing, attitude, and reading habits of Dutch novels. The negative assumptions about other parties outside the group show the stereotype is shown in the negative assumptions about other parties outside the group. The ambivalence is shown in the indigenous interest in Dutch newspapers and the Dutch dislike of working as government employees. Hybridity is shown in the embodiment of Dutch houses decorated with local ornaments and the nickname \"mientje\" for native women. This novel complexly shows colonial discourse with strong responses against it. AbstrakW.R. Supratman menulis novel Perawan Desa (1929) pada era kolonial. Novel itu bercerita tentang kehidupan masyarakat kolonial pada era Hindia Belanda. Penelitian ini mengkaji wacana kolonial dan resistensi dalam novel tersebut dengan pendekatan poskolonial. Wacana kolonial yang dimaksud ialah diskriminasi, superioritas ras, dan rasisme, yang disampaikan melalui tindakan dan ucapan tokoh. Adapun bentuk resistensi adalah stereotipe, mimikri, ambivalensi, dan hibriditas yang disampaikan dalam bentuk penampilan, cara berpikir tokoh, dan bentuk tempat tinggal. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini ialah deskriptif kualitatif. Novel Perawan Desa menyuarakan wacana kolonial berupa ucapan orang Belanda yang menyatakan rasnya lebih unggul, perlakuan kasar terhadap bumiputra, dan perbedaan perlakuan di depan hukum. Resistensi terbukti pada tindakan mimikri berupa peniruan cara berpakaian dan kebiasaan membaca roman Belanda. Ambivalensi terbukti pada asumsi negatif terhadap pihak lain di luar kelompoknya, ketertarikan bumiputra pada koran Belanda, dan ketidaksukaan orang Belanda pada pekerjaan pegawai kolonial. Hibriditas terbukti pada pewujudan bangunan rumah Belanda yang dihiasi ornamen lokal dan panggilan “mientje” pada perempuan bumiputra. Despite the differences in their sociocultural conditions, both characters experience some similarities with the recurring trauma, dissociative effect, and reorientation of consciousness. The phenomena is crucial to investigate because Franz Fanon has attempted to prove that psychoanalysis is not a universally applied theory. The purpose of this study is to find out the form of traumatic feelings experienced by the two main characters and identify how dissociative effects and reorientation of consciousness are presented due to traumatic events. The theory of literary trauma by Caruth is employed as the theory to be used in this research. The impact of Malala's and Yuni's traumatic experiences are significantly different. Yuni tends to have the effects of Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), while Malala tends to have a Post Traumatic Growth (PTG). PTSD is regarded as a severe condition that needs expert care to manage and recover from. PTG, on the other hand, describes the positive psychological improvements that certain people may experience after a traumatic occurrence.AbstrakArtikel ini bertujuan membandingkan dan menyelidiki Yuni (2021) dan He Named Me Malala (2015) dalam kaitannya dengan bagaimana lingkungan sosiokultural memengaruhi kondisi psikologis tokoh utama. Terlepas dari perbedaan kondisi sosiokultural mereka, kedua karakter mengalami beberapa kesamaan dengan trauma berulang, efek disosiatif, dan reorientasi kesadaran. Fenomena ini penting untuk diselidiki karena Franz Fanon telah berusaha membuktikan bahwa psikoanalisis bukanlah teori yang diterapkan secara universal. Selain itu, tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah mengetahui bentuk perasaan traumatis yang dialami oleh kedua tokoh utama dan mengidentifikasi bagaimana efek disosiatif dan reorientasi kesadaran yang dihadirkan akibat peristiwa traumatis. Teori trauma sastra oleh Cathy Caruth digunakan sebagai teori yang akan digunakan dalam penelitian ini. Dampak pengalaman traumatis Malala dan Yuni sangat berbeda. Yuni cenderung mengalami Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), sedangkan Malala cenderung mengalami Post Traumatic Growth (PTG). PTSD dianggap sebagai kondisi parah yang membutuhkan perawatan ahli untuk dikelola dan dipulihkan. PTG, di sisi lain, menggambarkan peningkatan psikologis positif yang mungkin dialami orang-orang tertentu setelah kejadian traumatis. These ideologies lead us to find out the motive beyond the adaptation work. So, this research discusses two objects. The first object is how the transformations of The Lightning Thief adaptation (from novel to film) are. The second object is the motive beyond the adaptation of The Lightning Thief from a book into a film. This research uses Linda Hutchon’s theory of adaptation as a basis of theory, Roland Barthes’ Mythologies, and the theory film of mise-en-scene as the method to find out the ideology from both the novel and film. The results show some transformations of the ideologies from the book into a film. The novel brings the emergence of feminism, the motherhood role, collectivism, fantasy as the uniqueness of the story, and cultural universality. While the film changes into the emergence of patriarchal ideology, the fatherhood role, individualism, competitiveness, and freedom of American values. These results show three motives of adaptation: cultural capital, personal motive, and economic lures. AbstrakPenelitian ini bertujuan menemukan beberapa ideologi dalam adaptasi novel ke dalam film dengan menggunakan metode penelitian kualitatif dan metode komparatif. Ideologi ini membawa kita untuk menemukan motif dalam karya adaptasi. Jadi, penelitian ini membahas dua objek. Objek pertama adalah bagaimana transformasi adaptasi The Lightning Thief (dari novel ke film). Objek kedua adalah apa motif dibalik adaptasi The Lightning Thief dari sebuah novel menjadi sebuah film. Penelitian ini menggunakan teori adaptasi Linda Hutchon sebagai dasar teori,Mythologies Roland Barthes dan teori film mise-en-scene sebagai metode untuk menemukan ideologi baik dari novel maupun film. Hasilnya menunjukkan beberapa transformasi ideologi dari novel ke film. Novel membawa kemunculan feminisme, peran keibuan, kolektivisme, fantasi sebagai keunikan cerita, dan universalitas budaya. Sementara film berubah menjadi kemunculan ideologi patriarki, peran kebapakan, individualisme, daya saing, dan kebebasan sebagai nilai-nilai Amerika. Rendra's poem “Nyanyian Dunia” can be brought closer to semantics, worldviews, and humanities values. However, the three things above become a contrast when faced with research that focuses on eroticism and Newmark's method of translation. Mainly “Di Antara Kita” by Ajip Rosidi, which has not yet been analyzed. This study aims to explain how erotic texts are presented to create aesthetics in poetry writing and how the three poems above are translated through the perspective of the Newmark translation method. The method used in this article is qualitative. The results show that “Di Antara Kita” on ‘Between Us’ and “Nyanyian Duniawi” on ‘A Worldly Song’, translated by Harry Aveling above, is dominated by the free translation method, and the diction contained in the source text and translation cannot be classified into in pornographic texts. The conclusion is that eroticism in the two poems above is confronted with the choice of diction, so the poems “Di Antara Kita” and “Nyanyian Duniawi” are not included in pornography, which is so verbal and obscene. Also, the eroticism in the two poems above reflects the desire of the two subjects who want each other’s love and bodies. AbstrakTidak diragukan lagi, puisi W. S. Rendra yang berjudul “Nyanyian Dunia” memiliki nilai semantik, pandangan dunia, dan humaniora yang kental. Akan tetapi, ketiga hal itu menjadi kontras ketika dihadapkan pada penelitian yang menitikberatkan pada erotisme dan metode penerjemahan ala Newmark. Terlebih “Di Antara Kita” karya Ajip Rosidi yang belum pernah dianalisis. Tujuan kajian ini ialah menjelaskan bagaimana teks erotisme dihadirkan untuk menciptakan estetika dalam penulisan puisi dan bagaimana ketiga puisi di atas diterjemahkan melalui perspektif metode penerjemahan Newmark. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode kualitatif. Analisis menunjukkan bahwa “Antara Kita” atas Between Us dan “Nyanyian Duniawi” atas A Worldly Song yang diterjemahkan oleh Harry Aveling didominasi oleh metode free translation dan diksi yang terdapat di dalam teks sumber dan terjemahan tidak dapat digolongkan ke dalam teks pornografi. Simpulan yang diperoleh adalah erotisme di kedua puisi itu dihadapkan pada pemilihan diksi sehingga tidak termasuk ke dalam pornografi yang begitu verbal dan cabul.
