Recent researches imply that if this cooperation follows activities it will lead to the creation of a new construct: 'cooperation'. Carrying out this phenomenon in internal mechanisms of manufacturers leads to higher supply chain performance for them. In the present study we aimed to propose and test a comprehensive model for cooperation. We reviewed recent proposed models in relation to cooperation to propose a new model through this study. Our conceptual model consists of cooperation as the main exogenous construct, supply chain performance as the chief endogenous variable and three mediator constructs: degree of integration, success of cooperation and corporate strategy. Structural equation modelling using partial least squares is applied to comprehensively test the research conceptual model. Our findings indicate the significant impacts of cooperation on supply chain performance mediated through the three paths specified.","PeriodicalId":334553,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Strategic Business Alliances","volume":"245 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-09-29","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131201252","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Learning by expatriate and local managers appears far more complex, mutually dependent, and significant to the knowledge transfer process than suggested in the existing literature. Building upon conceptualisations of individual learning and cognitive-behavioural effects in an organisational context while drawing evidence from two cases of Danish-Vietnamese joint ventures, we propose a model of individual-level knowledge transfer and learning in IJVs. With this model, we expect to enhance our understanding of micro-foundations of learning in emerging economy joint ventures and to encourage future research that takes individual learning effects into consideration.","PeriodicalId":334553,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Strategic Business Alliances","volume":"32 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-09-29","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125708402","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

A framework is presented with potential meta-governance mechanisms of change. These are confronted with the practices of three governance arrangements that have the ambition to become a key actor for the advancement of sustainable production in a global value chain: the sustainable fisheries partnership, the Common Code for Coffee Community Association and the World Cocoa Foundation. Although the case studies demonstrate that the mechanisms for change are used in different ways and to varying degrees, the private uptake of meta-governance mechanisms for change particularly relates to networking and capacity building. These are mostly geared towards process management strategies, activating actors and resources, and arranging and facilitating interactions amongst stakeholders. Meta-governors can be strengthened in their efforts to frame the global sustainability discourse and mainstreaming of sustainability goals.","PeriodicalId":334553,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Strategic Business Alliances","volume":"41 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-09-29","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124669662","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The undeniable fact is that she has a formidable chunk of her population at the poorest socio-economic group - the bottom of pyramid (BOP). One of the key growth areas is the healthcare industry. It is one of the few industries yet to be completely disrupted by technology, though its foundation is shifting from within. We talk of making access to good healthcare a fundamental right, yet millions in India struggle for it every day. In an environment of optimism, there is a strong need that leading industry players as healthcare providers and pharmaceutical firms rethink their business models and infuse technology in a big way to reinvent their approach to reach out to serve BOP healthcare consumers. This calls for conceptualising sustainable healthcare models that encompass initiatives of software automation for simplified clinic management. It would thereby help healthcare service providers offer a superior patient experience in the clinic and also facilitate offline access to all their electronic healthcare records. India's healthcare needs and costs are mounting and healthcare start-ups might help target more innovative investment in healthcare and ensure the adoption of 'inclusive business models'.","PeriodicalId":334553,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Strategic Business Alliances","volume":"77 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-09-29","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129381221","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The current study examines the effect of workplace spirituality on two important job outcomes, i.e., affective organisational commitment and job satisfaction. The responses are collected from 480 IT professionals working in various organisations located in several Indian cities. Structural equation modelling is used to analyse the data and test the hypotheses. The findings report a positive influence of workplace spirituality on employee's affective organisational commitment and job satisfaction. In the concluding part, results are discussed, both theoretical and business implications are delineated, limitations of the study are highlighted and future directions are proposed.","PeriodicalId":334553,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Strategic Business Alliances","volume":"64 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-08-10","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126860221","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Divorce is an epidemic, and so is strategic alliance. Both are based on the actions and reactions between people in the context of interpersonal relationships. The number of marriages is going down and correspondingly divorces seem to occur at a more rapid rate, and this phenomenon is found in strategic alliance partnership too. Hence, just like marriages in the recent times, a majority of institutional partnerships fail. What makes a marriage, or a strategic alliance, tick initially? Many, which include romance and mutual desires, goals, and expectations as well as name and fame in the eyes of the public and in general life filled with happiness. However, just like most marriages, strategic alliance partnerships fail too at some point in time, marred by failure, dissatisfaction, bitterness, and yes, eventually, end in divorce. This article discusses findings derived from an empirical survey to identify critical soft and hard factors that negatively influence partnership or relationship dynamics. The article suggests remedial measures that may be used to avoid factors that lead to dissatisfaction and failure in the context of inter-organisational relationships.","PeriodicalId":334553,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Strategic Business Alliances","volume":"74 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-08-10","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128582467","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The literature addresses the importance of increasing the number of partners to reach such goals, and empirically, it is noted that organisations encounter difficulty in this regard. Given this panorama, this study aimed to propose a framework to expand the number of partners in inter-organisational networks. To reach this objective, literature on other inter-organisational relationships supported the construction of a questionnaire and script for interviews. One hundred twenty managers of inter-organisational networks answered the questionnaires, and 16 managers were interviewed. These data were assessed using univariate and interpretative analyses, enabling the complementation of data. The resulting framework consists of 11 steps. This study contributes theoretically to filling a research gap and, in practical terms, serves as a guide for inter-organisational networks seeking to increase their number of partners.","PeriodicalId":334553,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Strategic Business Alliances","volume":"32 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-08-10","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126340579","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

While existing research has looked at factors that influence the success and failure of alliances, such research has been largely scattered, focusing either on a particular set of factors or on a particular stage of alliance life cycle. This paper develops a comprehensive framework of firm-level and alliance-level factors across the formation, initialisation and management stages of a JV that influence its success. The findings are based on primary interviews conducted with the top management executives including CEOs of three JVs of a leading player in the Indian retail sector.","PeriodicalId":334553,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Strategic Business Alliances","volume":"304 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-08-10","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131767393","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The article aims to understand the motives for multisourcing from a transaction cost economics perspective, and tries to resolve the paradox between choosing a form of cooperation that lowers transaction costs (TC), and deciding for multisourcing, which, based on articles and described cases, increases TC by as many parties involved as there are. Multisourcing is a relatively new phenomenon, and few studies have embarked on a topic of why it is undertaken by firms, therefore case study is a relevant research method. The article suggests that multisourcing is not chosen by firms to lower TC, but companies need to act to reduce the costs.","PeriodicalId":334553,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Strategic Business Alliances","volume":"143 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-08-10","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132621357","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Cultural differences are related to deep-seated values and are also often more difficult to observe than language differences, so they may go unnoticed. Language, cultural and time zone differences are obvious problems that complicate offshore process management. To this effect, the problem is investigated using both qualitative and quantitative approach. In qualitative approach, interviews were conducted; and in quantitative approach, interpretative structural modelling (ISM) is used to identify inter relationship among the barriers. Results of qualitative analyses show that main barriers are communication language and belief and attitude. Further analysis using ISM approach shows that belief and attitude act as strong drivers and communication language acts as a linkage.","PeriodicalId":334553,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Strategic Business Alliances","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-09-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130602679","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
