The physical distancing is considered an essential public health intervention that could curb the transmission of the coronavirus. This study adopted a qualitatively structured and open ended question using interview protocol. The questions were designed to find out the respondents’ experience of COVID -19 and the effects of physical distancing and self-quarantine on them and the ways of adjustment to cope with the situation. Initially, calls on WhatsApp were made to ascertain the willingness of those selected to be part of the survey. An online interview protocol was sent to students at various locations in Kota Samarahan and Gombak. The protocol was administered through email and a period of 10 days (April 18 – 28, 2020) was given for it to be returned. Half of the 30 protocols returned were postgraduate who served as respondent for the study. The study found that those who stay off campus could go to the supermarket for groceries but needs to observe the physical distancing.","PeriodicalId":333260,"journal":{"name":"The International Journal of Academic Research in Business and Social Sciences","volume":"271 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-03-16","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"134332354","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Nevertheless, most studies focus more on examining different types of coping strategies in dealing with conflict as well as those that improve well-being. This study aims to examine the mediating roles of religiosity on the relationships between work-family conflict, work-family enrichment, and well-being. The body of data used in this research was gathered from 140 Muslim women academicians at Universiti Teknologi MARA. The analytical evaluation was conducted using SEM-AMOS 21.0 . The relationships between well-being, work-family conflict, work-family enrichment, and religiosity were found to be significant. The key findings of this study are religiosity fully mediates the association between work-family conflict and well-being, and partially mediates the relationship between work-family enrichment and well-being. Since most of the researchers often test religiosity as an independent variable in influencing well-being, the findings of this study are expected to bridge the gap by providing empirical support that religiosity could act as a mediator in the relationships between work-family conflict and work-family enrichment on well-being. The originality of this study may contribute to the formation of a new body of knowledge, and enrich the literature sources in the field of work-family conflict, work-family enrichment, and well-being that will benefit the academicians.","PeriodicalId":333260,"journal":{"name":"The International Journal of Academic Research in Business and Social Sciences","volume":"16 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-03-16","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115251037","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Instruction in a note-taking technique served as a control condition, and a pre-test-post-test design was utilised. The study involved 135 Sixth-Form Economics students (24 males and 111 females) and four Economics teachers. The effectiveness of the technique was assessed by four types of assessment tests, and the tests were developed on the basis of Bloom’s taxonomy of educational objectives for the cognitive domain (Bloom, 1956), and followed the procedure suggested by Gronlund (1982). It was hypothesised that the knowledge mapping technique would assist students to perform better in the performance tests in comparison with the control group using the note-taking technique. The influences of gender, ethnicity, cognitive style and learners’ characteristics were also assessed. Furthermore, the research also investigated the effects of the technique on measures of students’ self-efficacy beliefs and cognitive effort investment.","PeriodicalId":333260,"journal":{"name":"The International Journal of Academic Research in Business and Social Sciences","volume":"27 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-03-16","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"117075997","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The increase in demand has also brings with it an alarming number of incidents and accidents connected with children’s toy products worldwide particularly within European Union and United States, which largely imports the said products from Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN). To make matters worse, there is an absence of comprehensive children’s toys safety legislations within several ASEAN Member States. Therefore, there is an urgent call for the establishment of Children’s Toys Safety Policy in ASEAN in order to enhance the safety of children’s toys and facilitate trade. Hence, for the purpose of proposing components of Children’s Toys Safety Policy in ASEAN, this qualitative research utilised data from European Union Toy Safety Directives (Directive 2009/48/EC), New Zealand ISO 10377:2017, ASEAN Food Safety Policy and ASEAN Good Regulatory Practice in light of potential harmonisation mechanisms. The finding shows that there are four (4) principles suggested in the proposed Policy, which are promoting toy safety culture; toy safety commitment and responsibility; systematic toy safety framework; and responsibility of ASEAN Member States.","PeriodicalId":333260,"journal":{"name":"The International Journal of Academic Research in Business and Social Sciences","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-03-16","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133631952","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Winstedt is an orientalist who had been serving in Malaya as a British administrator. His form of thinking was based on the philosophy of logical empirical positivism, which is an understanding that emphasizes on making full use of the intellect as the main approach to obtain facts based on systematic and thorough research methods. This philosophy rejects revelation as proof and source of facts because religious proofs are considered as irrelevant in the field of history. This article focuses on the analysis of Winstedt’s view on the influence of Hinduism in the life of the Malay community, especially in Malaya through his four works. The authors have used historiography, comparisons and content analysis to analyse the views. The study found that Winstedt’s thinking approach, in assessing the impact of Hinduism in the Malay community life, especially in culture, legal and myth, was dubious and biased. He believed that the community had been influenced by the culture and the lifestyle of the Hindus, including the ability to expand a civilization; denying the contribution of Islam. This understanding, which was based on the European-centered thinking known as Euro-centrism, emerged due to the failure of the orientalists in understanding the content of Islam. The Eurocentrism has propagated the European nation as a great and civilized nation compared to other nations and should be regarded as the \"ambassador of civilization\"; the saviour of tobe-civilised people.","PeriodicalId":333260,"journal":{"name":"The International Journal of Academic Research in Business and Social Sciences","volume":"22 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-03-15","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123842027","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
