The evolvement of Vocational Colleges' teaching and learning approaches to Outcome-based Education (OBE) has contributed to curriculum implementation among Vocational Colleges educators. Issues that arise based on previous studies have found problems in implementing OBE among teachers, thus causing the teaching and learning process to be less effective. Therefore, a study was conducted to explore the teaching and learning process based on OBE by Vocational College teacher, especially in the Automotive Technology program in Selangor. This study aims to explore the issues and challenges of OBE implementation in Vocational Colleges. Researchers use a qualitative phenomenology approach to obtain the answers of the formulated research questions. Semi-structured interviews conducted with seven teachers as key informants in this study and two Vocational College administrators as supplementary data. The study results found that the challenges that hinder OBE implementation in Vocational Colleges are the workload of teachers, poor curriculum implementation, unstable system implementation, and lack of administrator support. The results of this study provide feedback to the Division of Vocational-Technical Education and Training (BPLTV), Vocational College administrators, and teachers on issues and challenges in applying OBE in Vocational Colleges. These challenges need to be addressed to ensure improvements, including knowledge, monitoring, and practices being imparted in Vocational Colleges teaching and learning ecosystem.","PeriodicalId":333260,"journal":{"name":"The International Journal of Academic Research in Business and Social Sciences","volume":"240 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-03-09","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123096348","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

A total of six families were interviewed. This involved 21 respondents consisting of six husbands, five first wives, five second wives, one third and fourth wife, as well as three children. In-depth, face-to-face interviews were conducted based on the interview questions. Interviews were transcribed and analyzed using thematic analysis and six themes emerged as follows: relationships of warmth and rejuvenation; use of multi-way communication and a veto; valuing straightforward and deep conversations; feeling well treated as long as comparisons can be avoided; maintaining close relationships; and fair and friendly treatment. The findings of this study are expected to help mitigate the perception that polygamous families always produce bad family environments and are dysfunctional. Instead it is shown that polygamous families often produce more positive, better relationships than those in monogamous marriages. The findings of the study are explained, and major implications discussed, in detail.","PeriodicalId":333260,"journal":{"name":"The International Journal of Academic Research in Business and Social Sciences","volume":"44 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-03-08","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"134118779","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In the effort to flatten the infection curve and reduce total fatalities from the disease, educational institutions are forced to shut down resulting educators grappling for other alternatives for delivering instructions. With urgency to maintain the continuity of the education systems, Malaysia has decided to implement Emergency Remote Teaching (ERT) to replace the withdrawal of face-to-face interaction at school during the Movement Control Order (MCO). This paper reviews the implementation of ER and teachers of primary education perception towards ERT in teaching English as second language (ESL) and challenges faced during the implementation of ERT. This paper also presents some recommendations in addressing the challenges identified to provide better implementation and quality delivery of knowledge through ERT.","PeriodicalId":333260,"journal":{"name":"The International Journal of Academic Research in Business and Social Sciences","volume":"11 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-03-07","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129021187","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

However, not many consumers are aware of the implicit and explicit information that the brand includes in the television advertisement. With this, it is important for consumers to know and understand the importance of the information that is implicitly or explicitly in cooperated in the milk formula television advertisement. The study uses qualitative method, focusing on Fairclough’s (1995) critical discourse analysis, the second dimension which is discourse practice analysis under the sub category of intertextuality which is presupposition. A total of 20 Mother/ or Father with children drinking milk formula will be exposed to 5 different brands of Milk formula television advertisement and will be interviewed on their presupposition of the explicit and implicit information contained in the milk formula advertisement. The finding shows that parents are only aware of the explicit information in the television advertisement as it is directly mentioned, as opposed to the implicit information as the parents don’t have much time to make their own inference on the implicit information. It is hoped that further studies will be done on the importance of explicit and implicit information in television advertisements.","PeriodicalId":333260,"journal":{"name":"The International Journal of Academic Research in Business and Social Sciences","volume":"5 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-03-06","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"120944115","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The study conceptualized strategic intelligence as synergy of business intelligence, competitive intelligence and knowledge management. Data was obtained from the yearly records and publications of the central bank of Kenya, between the years 2016 – 2018. Further the researcher conducted simple linear multivariate analysis to confirm the outcome strategic intelligence has on the return on equity of the saving banks. Hypothesis testing was conducted at P-value<0.5. Findings indicated that strategic intelligence has a positive effect on the return on equity. The results showed that a unit increase of strategic intelligence led to a significant increase on the return on equity. Data collection was limited to the 40 registered Kenyan savings institutions. Further return on equity was used as financial measurement, for three consecutive years (2016 -2018), acquired from the yearly publications of the central bank of Kenya. The main objective was to identify the effect of strategic intelligence on the financial performance in Kenya. The study further revealed the benefits accrued in stability and sustainability of the banks, when strategic intelligence is employed. Moreover, this study exposed the setbacks that emerge in the absence of strategic intelligence in an individual commercial bank and the sector as a whole. The diversification of strategic intelligence of banks in Kenya should focus on growth of return on equity as the most attractive financial ratio, easy to interpret and the fast noticeable by investors, hence the major sources of revenue for the growth, stability and sustainability of the commercial banks in Kenya.","PeriodicalId":333260,"journal":{"name":"The International Journal of Academic Research in Business and Social Sciences","volume":"29 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-03-06","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115213656","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
