Whereas cognitive processing is a process that involved managing the mental activities that occurred in the students’ mind to process information so that information can be stored and recalled. The objective of this study was to explore the impact of existing knowledge on cognitive processes such as attention, perception, training, coding and recalling of students in mastering the textual content of the Malaysian Economics through reading process. This study used qualitative design that combined two methods: interview and document content analysis. Purposive sampling was used in this study. The study sample consisted of four pre-university students taking Malaysian Economics papers in the Malaysian Higher School Certificate (STPM) in Johor Bahru district. The findings showed that the influence of existing knowledge on the processes of attention, perception, training, coding and recalling performed by students to master the textual reading of the Malaysian Economics. Therefore, the findings of this study could be practiced by students to master the information read from various sources.","PeriodicalId":333260,"journal":{"name":"The International Journal of Academic Research in Business and Social Sciences","volume":"2 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-03-12","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116768189","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This study was been conducted at PERDA Advanced Technical Institute (PERDA-TECH), Nibong Tebal, Malaysia. Students’ misconceptions of heat and temperature concepts was determined through relevant studies and tested through the understanding of heat and temperature concept test. This research involved 70 students from four fields of study. 35 respondents were used as control groups, and the remaining 35 were employed as experimental groups. Both groups received theoretical lessons. Only experimental group conducted experiments on the heat and temperature concepts and been exposed to the conceptual change-based teaching during the experiment. Students in both groups were tested through the understanding of heat and temperature concept test after conventional science teaching and subsequently after conceptual change-based teaching. The study was based on differences in factors of gender, areas of study, socioeconomic status and student age. All data collected, encoded and subsequently analyzed using Statistical Package for Social Science (SPSS) software. Independent sample t-tests and one-way ANOVA tests were used to determine whether there are significant differences in mean sample scores before and after treatment. The results recorded that there was a significant difference between these factors and students who were undergoing a conceptual change-based teaching understand the concepts of heat and temperature more and achieves better performance.","PeriodicalId":333260,"journal":{"name":"The International Journal of Academic Research in Business and Social Sciences","volume":"635-637 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-03-12","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133793651","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In a more in-depth review, this study examines the reliability and validity of a new measure of project success based on the Malaysian Small Public Construction Projects (SPCPs) context. This study uses a measuring tool called Project Success Achieved Instrument (PSAI) that consists of five dimensions with factor loadings ranging from 0.555 to 0.830. Although several researchers have recognized the PSAI as adequate to explain the project success framework, it has not been studied in developing countries with different perspectives such as Malaysia. The questionnaire was distributed to two major federal organizations, Implementation Coordination Unit, Prime Minister Department (ICU JPM), and Ministry of Rural Development (KPLB), which involved 137 active project managers. The reliability and validity of the instrument appear to be very promising and implications of the results for further research shall be discussed.","PeriodicalId":333260,"journal":{"name":"The International Journal of Academic Research in Business and Social Sciences","volume":"656 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-03-11","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121252710","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The original Self Compassion Scale (SCS) comprises of 6 subscales which are self-kindness, self-judgement, common humanity, isolation, mindfulness and overidentification, this scale was translated into Bahasa Melayu (Malay Language) which is the primary language in Malaysia. The Bahasa Melayu translated version of SCS (SCS-MV) was administered on 377 adolescents aged 16 years old who attended secondary school. Exploratory Factor Analysis (EFA) was carried out and Cronbach alphas were used to estimate the reliability or internal consistency of the SCS-MV subscales. Results demonstrated that this study support the use of the six factors scoring method of the original SCS with the overall Cronbach’s alpha for SCS-MV ranging from 0.76 to 0.95. These results provided further psychometric evidence and lent a confirmatory support that SCS-MV can be used among Malay-speaking adolescent populations in Malaysia.","PeriodicalId":333260,"journal":{"name":"The International Journal of Academic Research in Business and Social Sciences","volume":"27 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-03-10","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126821263","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Islamic law can play an important role in foreign policy formulation as Maqasid Al-Shariah (Objectives of Islamic Law) are universal. Maqasid Al-Shariah is divided into three categories: general Maqasid, specific Maqasid, and partial Maqasid. Despite this universality, there is an inadequate explanation of the application of Maqasid Al-Shariah in foreign policy. Therefore, this study aims to explore the application of Maqasid Al-Shariah in the foreign policy of Islamic states. The study employed a qualitative approach in which document analysis was used to gather information from the United Nations Human Rights report of 2015. The study found that Maqasid AlShariah can play a significant role in the foreign policy of Islamic states through the protection of people’s life, property, health, religion, and dignity. Further analysis revealed that Maqasid Al-Shariah can be successfully incorporated in the foreign policy-making process of Islamic states, particularly where international treaties neglect or contradict the principles of Islamic law. Hence, Maqasid Al-Shariah should be fully implemented in the foreign policy process of governments of Islamic countries at both the national and international levels.","PeriodicalId":333260,"journal":{"name":"The International Journal of Academic Research in Business and Social Sciences","volume":"11 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-03-10","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123992079","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Abstract The Malaysian government has developed significant disability provision, policies and legislations since the period of colonialism, but disabled people still encounter major barriers in education and training. Although disability is argued to have some relation to gender and culture, significant research involving Malaysian disabled women in terms of education and training is very limited. This paper therefore sets to explore the lived experiences of Malaysian disabled women in education and training. This study used a full qualitative research approach in which the data was collected from in-depth interviews with 33 Malaysian women with physical (mobility) impairment. 17 Malays, 8 Chinese and 8 Indian women were interviewed twice in Peninsular Malaysia within the period of six months. The majority of women came from low-income and rural families. Findings suggested that structural and attitudinal barriers were found to be the main barriers for many women to access education and training. Hence, their situation was aggravated by complex interactions between individual, familial, sociocultural and gender factors. dystrophy, marfan syndrome, systemic lupus erythematosus, traumatic brain injury, gestational diabetes mellitus, osteosarcoma, spina bifida, teratoma, dysmelia, leg amputation and leg injury.","PeriodicalId":333260,"journal":{"name":"The International Journal of Academic Research in Business and Social Sciences","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-03-10","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121509329","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
