Leadership also requires that a leader must have the power to be able to make others follow what a leader cools. A leader is not necessarily effective in carrying out his role as a leader in a community and its environment. An effective leader is if it can bring change to his followers in a community. The change in question is a change in the quality of life of the community. To obtain information on the influence of sustainable leadership on the quality of life, a study was conducted by selecting the coastal fishing community of Teluk Bintan as the object of study. The study was conducted quantitatively by disseminating questionnaires to 318 respondents and strengthened by qualitative information collected through interviews with figures who are considered influential in the community. The findings show that there is a relationship between sustainable leadership and quality of life, and sustainable leadership has an impact on the quality of life of coastal fishing communities in Bintan Bay. The main characteristic of sustainable leadership that the majority expect from the coastal fishing community in Bintan Bay, namely trust, is caring and modest. The sustainable leadership characteristics desired by the community are believed to bring prosperity to the coastal fishing community in Bintan Bay.","PeriodicalId":333260,"journal":{"name":"The International Journal of Academic Research in Business and Social Sciences","volume":"82 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-03-17","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124409021","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The study utilizes a purposive random sampling involving of 200 employees as respondents at PT. Bank Aceh Syariah in Aceh Province. Data is collected by a questionnaire survey and analyzed by Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) and Hierarchical Regression Model (HRM). The study finds that emotional intelligence effects positively and significantly on leadership capability, it’s subsequently of effectiveness of decision making. However, personality does not effect on leadership capability; oppositely, it does on effectiveness of decision making. The existence of the capability leadership mediates the effect of emotional intelligence on effectiveness of decision making. On the other hand, the capability leadership does not mediate the effect of personality on capability leadership.","PeriodicalId":333260,"journal":{"name":"The International Journal of Academic Research in Business and Social Sciences","volume":"171 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-03-17","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123739087","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

There is a lack of exploration in learning experiences that engage students in realistic, thought-provoking problems, working with others, and applying their knowledge, skills, and creativity to find solutions to real-world problems. One of the biggest challenges for Malaysian secondary chemistry education is that few guidelines or models exist regarding teaching chemistry creatively in the classroom. Therefore, this paper provided a systematic and analytical strategy in mapping out and offering a critical review on design thinking in education. Overall, this study recognized the gains that can be made from utilizing Design Thinking in education, especially in the global quest of teaching 21st-century skills, and had recommended using Design Thinking in the Lesson plan and Project-Based Learning. This paper also suggested a need to pursue further studies on developing a Design Thinking framework for creative teaching and how these could motivate and excite students and themselves in the creative teaching of chemistry in the classroom.","PeriodicalId":333260,"journal":{"name":"The International Journal of Academic Research in Business and Social Sciences","volume":"110 4 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-03-16","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115760237","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Therefore it is paramount to makesure that the working environment the employers prepare for the workforce has to be of their preferences and expectation. Understanding the humanistic requirements of the future workforce who are technological incline is very important to help retain them in the organization. The development of improved technology has pushed the boundaries of human expectation to another level that place the employers to be well prepared for the newer generation which is starting to take their places in the working world. This genenration is non other than Ge n Z. Labelled as “ the always connected generation’’, this generation will definitely have their expectation of the future work environment in order to maintain them in the office. The purpose of this analysis is to examine the response of 347 students from a group of private colleges who are Gen-Z born in 1995 to 2000 in an effort to conceptualize the preferred future working environment that will suit and retain them. The Smart Partial Least Square (Smart PLS) study shows a close relationship between characteristics, preferred communication, preferred leadership, expectation towards the working environment, towards their expected working environment. This study introduces significant results with implications for both practical methods and analytical analysis. by the four predictors. Although there was no large effect size for the four predictors, the expectation has a nearly medium effect size ( f 2 = 0.148) compared to the other three predictors. The lowest effect size was for preferred leadership ( f 2 = 0.017), which means that this construct does not affect the endogenous construct using the current sample. Next, the out-of-sample predictive relevance was assessed using two procedures: blindfolding procedure and PLS predict procedure. Results show Q 2 values were 0.273 and 0.495, respectively, which indicates that the model has good predictive relevance. The Mann Whitney U tests results indicate that two hypotheses are significant, i.e., work expectation and work environment are different based on gender, whereby females have lower levels of agreement to the measures of both constructs as compared to males. The first finding of the Mann Whitney U tests is consistent with a study by Miller and (2018) where female participants from the medical sector perceived more gender-based discrimination at work, i.e., perceptions of workplace discrimination may contribute to the persistence of the gender gap. However, the second finding contrasts with the results of a study by Jaworek and Dyląg (2015) that shows statistically significantly higher levels of all three examined job engagement (i.e., absorption, dedication, vigor) in women compared to men.","PeriodicalId":333260,"journal":{"name":"The International Journal of Academic Research in Business and Social Sciences","volume":"43 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-03-16","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127347074","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The study is in the forms of a transliteration, annotation and translation of the letter and also a general discussion of the historical background and content of the letter. Also a discussion on the common features of the Dutch letter with the style of the Malay rulers’ letter will be made, namely the writing of a short formulaic heading on top of the page as a kind of statement, kind words of endearment and honorable words of addressing the recipients, prayer to the Almighty for the long life and good health of the addressee and the mention of the exchange of precious gifts. One feature that is in complete contrast with the etiquette of Malay rulers’ letter writing was the conspicuous introduction in the opening line of the Governor- General’s letter, of the status of the sender with grandeurs mentions of one’s honor and awards, and also the use of plain paper without illumination by the Dutch Governor-General which contrasted to the Malay rulers’ letter writing style of using intricate illumination. This study also revealed that although the letter is from a Dutch colonial Governor-General to one of the Malay rulers in his dominions, the civility, mutual respect and appropriate decorum of addressing between rulers, were practiced and adopted.","PeriodicalId":333260,"journal":{"name":"The International Journal of Academic Research in Business and Social Sciences","volume":"10 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-03-16","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132073909","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Furthermore we also explore the relationship between students background and their achievement. On the other side, the cognitive style is divided into two dimensions whether it is `Field Independent 'or` Field dependent'. A total of 100 first year students were tested. The measurement tool used was a questionnaire consisting of the background of the students, academic achievement and cognitive style and other factors that have effect on student’s achievement. In general, academic achievement was not affected by gender. While the race factors show that the performance of Chinese students are better than the Malay and other races. However, for the Chinese and Indians, there were no inherent differences in achievement. Study also shows that the correlation coefficient had a positive relation. This means that student’s academi c background influence student achievement for first year students. In terms of cognitive style, the students with analytical cognitive styles (Field Independent) has better achievement than students of global cognitive styles (Field dependent).","PeriodicalId":333260,"journal":{"name":"The International Journal of Academic Research in Business and Social Sciences","volume":"22 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-03-16","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116947501","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
